נִפְרָדִים֙ are spread out nip̄·rā·ḏîm רְחוֹקִ֖ים far rə·ḥō·w·qîm אִ֥ישׁ from one ’îš מֵאָחִֽיו׃ another mê·’ā·ḥîw עַל־ along ‘al- הַ֣חוֹמָ֔ה the wall . ha·ḥō·w·māh Nehemiah 4:20 בִּמְק֗וֹם Wherever bim·qō·wm אֲשֶׁ֤ר - ’ă·šer תִּשְׁמְעוּ֙ you hear tiš·mə·‘ū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- ק֣וֹל the sound qō·wl הַשּׁוֹפָ֔ר of the horn , haš·šō·w·p̄ār תִּקָּבְצ֣וּ rally tiq·qā·ḇə·ṣū אֵלֵ֑ינוּ to us ’ê·lê·nū שָׁ֖מָּה there . šām·māh אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ Our God ’ĕ·lō·hê·nū יִלָּ֥חֶם will fight yil·lā·ḥem לָֽנוּ׃ for us ! ” lā·nū Nehemiah 4:21 וַאֲנַ֖חְנוּ So we wa·’ă·naḥ·nū עֹשִׂ֣ים continued ‘ō·śîm בַּמְּלָאכָ֑ה the work , bam·mə·lā·ḵāh וְחֶצְיָ֗ם while half of [the men] wə·ḥeṣ·yām מַחֲזִיקִים֙ held ma·ḥă·zî·qîm בָּֽרְמָחִ֔ים spears bā·rə·mā·ḥîm מֵעֲל֣וֹת from the break mê·‘ă·lō·wṯ הַשַּׁ֔חַר of dawn haš·ša·ḥar עַ֖ד until ‘aḏ הַכּוֹכָבִֽים׃ the stars hak·kō·w·ḵā·ḇîm צֵ֥את came out . ṣêṯ Nehemiah 4:22 הַהִיא֙ At that ha·hî בָּעֵ֤ת time bā·‘êṯ גַּ֣ם I also gam אָמַ֣רְתִּי said ’ā·mar·tî לָעָ֔ם to the people , lā·‘ām אִ֣ישׁ “ Let every man ’îš וְנַעֲר֔וֹ and his servant wə·na·‘ă·rōw יָלִ֖ינוּ spend the night yā·lî·nū בְּת֣וֹךְ inside bə·ṯō·wḵ יְרוּשָׁלִָ֑ם Jerusalem , yə·rū·šā·lim וְהָֽיוּ־ so that they can stand wə·hā·yū- לָ֧נוּ lā·nū מִשְׁמָ֖ר guard miš·mār הַלַּ֛יְלָה by night hal·lay·lāh מְלָאכָֽה׃ and work mə·lā·ḵāh וְהַיּ֥וֹם by day . ” wə·hay·yō·wm Nehemiah 4:23 אֲנִ֜י So neither I ’ă·nî וְאֵ֨ין - wə·’ên וְאַחַ֣י nor my brothers wə·’a·ḥay וּנְעָרַ֗י nor my servants ū·nə·‘ā·ray וְאַנְשֵׁ֤י . . . wə·’an·šê הַמִּשְׁמָר֙ nor the guards ham·miš·mār אֲשֶׁ֣ר - ’ă·šer אַחֲרַ֔י with me ’a·ḥă·ray אֵין־ . . . ’ên- אֲנַ֥חְנוּ . . . ’ă·naḥ·nū פֹשְׁטִ֖ים changed out of p̄ō·šə·ṭîm בְּגָדֵ֑ינוּ our clothes ; bə·ḡā·ḏê·nū אִ֖ישׁ each ’îš שִׁלְח֥וֹ carried his weapon , šil·ḥōw הַמָּֽיִם׃ס [even to go] for water . ham·mā·yim Nehemiah 5:1 וַתְּהִ֨י About that time there was wat·tə·hî גְּדוֹלָ֑ה a great gə·ḏō·w·lāh צַעֲקַ֥ת outcry ṣa·‘ă·qaṯ הָעָ֛ם from the people hā·‘ām וּנְשֵׁיהֶ֖ם and their wives ū·nə·šê·hem אֶל־ against ’el- אֲחֵיהֶ֖ם their fellow ’ă·ḥê·hem הַיְּהוּדִֽים׃ Jews . hay·yə·hū·ḏîm Nehemiah 5:2 וְיֵשׁ֙ - wə·yêš אֲשֶׁ֣ר Some ’ă·šer אֹמְרִ֔ים were saying , ’ō·mə·rîm אֲנַ֣חְנוּ “ We ’ă·naḥ·nū בָּנֵ֥ינוּ [and] our sons bā·nê·nū וּבְנֹתֵ֖ינוּ and daughters ū·ḇə·nō·ṯê·nū רַבִּ֑ים are numerous . rab·bîm וְנִקְחָ֥ה We must get wə·niq·ḥāh דָגָ֖ן grain ḏā·ḡān וְנֹאכְלָ֥ה in order to eat wə·nō·ḵə·lāh וְנִחְיֶֽה׃ and stay alive . ” wə·niḥ·yeh
