2 Chronicles 34:2 וַיַּ֥עַשׂ And he did way·ya·‘aś הַיָּשָׁ֖ר [what was] right hay·yā·šār בְּעֵינֵ֣י in the eyes bə·‘ê·nê יְהוָ֑ה of YHWH Yah·weh וַיֵּ֗לֶךְ and walked way·yê·leḵ בְּדַרְכֵי֙ in the ways bə·ḏar·ḵê אָבִ֔יו of his father ’ā·ḇîw דָּוִ֣יד David ; dā·wîḏ וְלֹא־ he did not wə·lō- סָ֖ר turn aside sār יָמִ֥ין to the right yā·mîn וּשְׂמֹֽאול׃ or to the left . ū·śə·mō·wl 2 Chronicles 34:3 וּבִשְׁמוֹנֶ֨ה In the eighth ū·ḇiš·mō·w·neh שָׁנִ֜ים year šā·nîm לְמָלְכ֗וֹ of his reign , lə·mā·lə·ḵōw וְהוּא֙ while he wə·hū עוֹדֶ֣נּוּ was still ‘ō·w·ḏen·nū נַ֔עַר young , na·‘ar הֵחֵ֕ל Josiah began hê·ḥêl לִדְר֕וֹשׁ to seek liḏ·rō·wōš לֵאלֹהֵ֖י the God lê·lō·hê אָבִ֑יו of his father ’ā·ḇîw דָּוִ֣יד David , dā·wîḏ וּבִשְׁתֵּ֧ים and in the twelfth ū·ḇiš·têm עֶשְׂרֵ֣ה . . . ‘eś·rêh שָׁנָ֗ה year šā·nāh הֵחֵל֙ he began hê·ḥêl לְטַהֵ֔ר to cleanse lə·ṭa·hêr אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יְהוּדָה֙ Judah yə·hū·ḏāh וִיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם and Jerusalem wî·rū·šā·lim מִן־ of min- הַבָּמוֹת֙ the high places , hab·bā·mō·wṯ וְהָ֣אֲשֵׁרִ֔ים the Asherah poles , wə·hā·’ă·šê·rîm וְהַפְּסִלִ֖ים the carved idols , wə·hap·pə·si·lîm וְהַמַּסֵּכֽוֹת׃ and the cast images . wə·ham·mas·sê·ḵō·wṯ 2 Chronicles 34:4 לְפָנָ֗יו Then in his presence lə·p̄ā·nāw אֵ֚ת - ’êṯ מִזְבְּח֣וֹת the altars miz·bə·ḥō·wṯ הַבְּעָלִ֔ים of the Baals hab·bə·‘ā·lîm וַיְנַתְּצ֣וּ were torn down , way·nat·tə·ṣū גִּדֵּ֑עַ and he cut to pieces gid·dê·a‘ וְהַֽחַמָּנִ֛ים the incense altars wə·ha·ḥam·mā·nîm אֲשֶׁר־ that ’ă·šer- לְמַ֥עְלָה were above lə·ma‘·lāh מֵעֲלֵיהֶ֖ם them . mê·‘ă·lê·hem שִׁבַּ֣ר He shattered šib·bar וְ֠הָאֲשֵׁרִים the Asherah poles , wə·hā·’ă·šê·rîm וְהַפְּסִלִ֤ים the carved idols , wə·hap·pə·si·lîm וְהַמַּסֵּכוֹת֙ and the cast images , wə·ham·mas·sê·ḵō·wṯ וְהֵדַ֔ק crushed them to dust , wə·hê·ḏaq וַיִּזְרֹק֙ and scattered them way·yiz·rōq עַל־ over ‘al- פְּנֵ֣י . . . pə·nê הַקְּבָרִ֔ים the graves haq·qə·ḇā·rîm הַזֹּבְחִ֖ים of those who had sacrificed haz·zō·ḇə·ḥîm לָהֶֽם׃ to them . lā·hem 2 Chronicles 34:5 שָׂרַ֖ף Then he burned śā·rap̄ וְעַצְמוֹת֙ the bones wə·‘aṣ·mō·wṯ כֹּֽהֲנִ֔ים of the priests kō·hă·nîm עַל־ on ‘al- מִזְבְּחוֹתָים their altars . miz·bə·ḥō·ṯå̄ym וַיְטַהֵ֥ר So he cleansed way·ṭa·hêr אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יְהוּדָ֖ה Judah yə·hū·ḏāh וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ and Jerusalem . yə·rū·šā·lim 2 Chronicles 34:6 וּבְעָרֵ֨י [Josiah] did the same in the cities ū·ḇə·‘ā·rê מְנַשֶּׁ֧ה of Manasseh , mə·naš·šeh וְאֶפְרַ֛יִם Ephraim , wə·’ep̄·ra·yim וְשִׁמְע֖וֹן and Simeon , wə·šim·‘ō·wn וְעַד־ as wə·‘aḏ- נַפְתָּלִ֑י far as Naphtali , nap̄·tā·lî בְּהַר and in the ruins bə·har בָּתֵּיהֶם . . . bå̄t·tē·hɛm סָבִֽיב׃ around them . sā·ḇîḇ 2 Chronicles 34:7 וַיְנַתֵּ֣ץ He tore down way·nat·têṣ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַֽמִּזְבְּח֗וֹת the altars ham·miz·bə·ḥō·wṯ וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- הָאֲשֵׁרִ֤ים and Asherah poles , hā·’ă·šê·rîm כִּתַּ֣ת crushed kit·taṯ וְהַפְּסִלִים֙ the idols wə·hap·pə·si·lîm לְהֵדַ֔ק to powder , lə·hê·ḏaq גִּדַּ֖ע and cut to pieces gid·da‘
