אֵלָֽיו׃ for himself . ’ê·lāw 2 Chronicles 32:2 יְחִזְקִיָּ֔הוּ When Hezekiah yə·ḥiz·qî·yā·hū וַיַּרְא֙ saw way·yar כִּי־ that kî- סַנְחֵרִ֑יב Sennacherib san·ḥê·rîḇ וּפָנָ֕יו . . . ū·p̄ā·nāw בָ֖א had come ḇā לַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה to make war lam·mil·ḥā·māh עַל־ against ‘al- יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ Jerusalem , yə·rū·šā·lim 2 Chronicles 32:3 וַיִּוָּעַ֗ץ he consulted way·yiw·wā·‘aṣ עִם־ with ‘im- שָׂרָיו֙ his leaders śā·rāw וְגִבֹּרָ֔יו and commanders wə·ḡib·bō·rāw לִסְתּוֹם֙ about stopping up lis·tō·wm אֶת־ - ’eṯ- מֵימֵ֣י the waters mê·mê הָעֲיָנ֔וֹת of the springs hā·‘ă·yā·nō·wṯ אֲשֶׁ֖ר - ’ă·šer מִח֣וּץ outside mi·ḥūṣ לָעִ֑יר the city , lā·‘îr וַֽיַּעְזְרֽוּהוּ׃ and they helped him carry it out . way·ya‘·zə·rū·hū 2 Chronicles 32:4 רָ֔ב Many rāḇ עַם־ people ‘am- וַיִּקָּבְצ֣וּ assembled way·yiq·qā·ḇə·ṣū וַֽיִּסְתְּמוּ֙ and stopped way·yis·tə·mū אֶת־ ’eṯ- כָּל־ up all kāl- הַמַּעְיָנ֔וֹת the springs ham·ma‘·yā·nō·wṯ וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- הַנַּ֛חַל and the stream han·na·ḥal הַשּׁוֹטֵ֥ף that flowed haš·šō·w·ṭêp̄ בְּתוֹךְ־ through bə·ṯō·wḵ- הָאָ֖רֶץ the land . hā·’ā·reṣ לָ֤מָּה “ Why lām·māh מַלְכֵ֣י should the kings mal·ḵê אַשּׁ֔וּר of Assyria ’aš·šūr יָב֙וֹאוּ֙ come yā·ḇō·w·’ū וּמָצְא֖וּ and find ū·mā·ṣə·’ū רַבִּֽים׃ plenty rab·bîm מַ֥יִם of water ?” ma·yim לֵאמֹ֑ר they said . lê·mōr 2 Chronicles 32:5 וַיִּתְחַזַּ֡ק Then Hezekiah worked resolutely way·yiṯ·ḥaz·zaq וַיִּבֶן֩ to rebuild way·yi·ḇen אֶת־ - ’eṯ- כָּל־ all kāl- הַפְּרוּצָ֜ה the broken sections of hap·pə·rū·ṣāh הַחוֹמָ֨ה the wall ha·ḥō·w·māh וַיַּ֣עַל and to raise up way·ya·‘al עַל־ . . . ‘al- הַמִּגְדָּל֗וֹת towers [on it] . ham·miḡ·dā·lō·wṯ אַחֶ֔רֶת [He also built] an ’a·ḥe·reṯ וְלַח֙וּצָה֙ outer wə·la·ḥū·ṣāh הַחוֹמָ֣ה wall ha·ḥō·w·māh וַיְחַזֵּ֥ק and reinforced way·ḥaz·zêq אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַמִּלּ֖וֹא the supporting terraces ham·mil·lō·w עִ֣יר of the City ‘îr דָּוִ֑יד of David , dā·wîḏ וַיַּ֥עַשׂ and he produced way·ya·‘aś לָרֹ֖ב an abundance of lā·rōḇ שֶׁ֛לַח weapons še·laḥ וּמָגִנִּֽים׃ and shields . ū·mā·ḡin·nîm 2 Chronicles 32:6 וַיִּתֵּ֛ן Hezekiah appointed way·yit·tên מִלְחָמ֖וֹת military mil·ḥā·mō·wṯ שָׂרֵ֥י commanders śā·rê עַל־ over ‘al- הָעָ֑ם the people hā·‘ām וַיִּקְבְּצֵ֣ם and gathered way·yiq·bə·ṣêm אֵלָ֗יו the people in ’ê·lāw אֶל־ . . . ’el- רְחוֹב֙ the square rə·ḥō·wḇ הָעִ֔יר of the city hā·‘îr שַׁ֣עַר gate . ša·‘ar וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר Then he encouraged way·ḏab·bêr עַל־ . . . ‘al- לְבָבָ֖ם them , lə·ḇā·ḇām לֵאמֹֽר׃ saying , lê·mōr 2 Chronicles 32:7 חִזְק֣וּ “ Be strong ḥiz·qū וְאִמְצ֔וּ and courageous ! wə·’im·ṣū אַל־ Do not ’al- תִּֽירְא֣וּ be afraid tî·rə·’ū
