שָׁנָה֙ . . . šā·nāh בְּמָלְכ֔וֹ when he became king , bə·mā·lə·ḵōw מָלַ֖ךְ and he reigned mā·laḵ בִּירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם in Jerusalem bî·rū·šā·lim וְשֵׁשׁ־ sixteen wə·šêš- עֶשְׂרֵ֣ה . . . ‘eś·rêh שָׁנָ֔ה years . šā·nāh כְּדָוִ֥יד And unlike David kə·ḏā·wîḏ אָבִֽיו׃ his father , ’ā·ḇîw וְלֹא־ he did not wə·lō- עָשָׂ֧ה do ‘ā·śāh הַיָּשָׁ֛ר [what was] right hay·yā·šār בְּעֵינֵ֥י in the eyes bə·‘ê·nê יְהוָ֖ה of YHWH . Yah·weh 2 Chronicles 28:2 וַיֵּ֕לֶךְ Instead, he walked way·yê·leḵ בְּדַרְכֵ֖י in the ways bə·ḏar·ḵê מַלְכֵ֣י of the kings mal·ḵê יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל of Israel yiś·rā·’êl וְגַ֧ם and even wə·ḡam עָשָׂ֖ה made ‘ā·śāh מַסֵּכ֛וֹת cast images mas·sê·ḵō·wṯ לַבְּעָלִֽים׃ of the Baals . lab·bə·‘ā·lîm 2 Chronicles 28:3 וְה֥וּא Moreover, Ahaz wə·hū הִקְטִ֖יר burned incense hiq·ṭîr בְּגֵ֣יא in the Valley of Hinnom bə·ḡê וַיַּבְעֵ֤ר and sacrificed way·yaḇ·‘êr אֶת־ ’eṯ- הִנֹּ֑ם [his] hin·nōm בֶן־ sons ḇen- בָּנָיו֙ - bā·nāw בָּאֵ֔שׁ in the fire , bā·’êš כְּתֹֽעֲבוֹת֙ according to the abominations kə·ṯō·‘ă·ḇō·wṯ הַגּוֹיִ֔ם of the nations hag·gō·w·yim אֲשֶׁר֙ that ’ă·šer יְהוָ֔ה YHWH ha·šêm הֹרִ֣ישׁ had driven out hō·rîš מִפְּנֵ֖י before mip·pə·nê בְּנֵ֥י the Israelites bə·nê יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ . . . . yiś·rā·’êl 2 Chronicles 28:4 וַיְזַבֵּ֧חַ And he sacrificed way·zab·bê·aḥ וַיְקַטֵּ֛ר and burned incense way·qaṭ·ṭêr בַּבָּמ֖וֹת on the high places , bab·bā·mō·wṯ וְעַל־ on wə·‘al- הַגְּבָע֑וֹת the hills , hag·gə·ḇā·‘ō·wṯ וְתַ֖חַת and under wə·ṯa·ḥaṯ כָּל־ every kāl- רַעֲנָֽן׃ green ra·‘ă·nān עֵ֥ץ tree . ‘êṣ 2 Chronicles 28:5 יְהוָ֣ה So YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהָיו֮ his God ’ĕ·lō·hāw וַֽיִּתְּנֵ֜הוּ delivered Ahaz way·yit·tə·nê·hū בְּיַ֣ד into the hand bə·yaḏ מֶ֣לֶךְ of the king me·leḵ אֲרָם֒ of Aram , ’ă·rām וַיַּ֨כּוּ־ who attacked way·yak·kū- ב֔וֹ him ḇōw וַיִּשְׁבּ֤וּ and took way·yiš·bū מִמֶּ֙נּוּ֙ . . . mim·men·nū גְדוֹלָ֔ה many ḡə·ḏō·w·lāh וַיָּבִ֖יאוּ . . . way·yā·ḇî·’ū שִׁבְיָ֣ה captives šiḇ·yāh דַּרְמָ֑שֶׂק to Damascus . dar·mā·śeq וְ֠גַם Ahaz was also wə·ḡam נִתָּ֔ן delivered nit·tān בְּיַד־ into the hand bə·yaḏ- מֶ֤לֶךְ of the king me·leḵ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ of Israel , yiś·rā·’êl וַיַּךְ־ who struck way·yaḵ- בּ֖וֹ him bōw גְדוֹלָֽה׃ס with great ḡə·ḏō·w·lāh מַכָּ֥ה force . mak·kāh 2 Chronicles 28:6 אֶחָ֖ד For in one ’e·ḥāḏ בְּי֥וֹם day bə·yō·wm פֶּ֨קַח Pekah pe·qaḥ בֶּן־ son ben- רְמַלְיָ֜הוּ of Remaliah rə·mal·yā·hū וַיַּהֲרֹג֩ killed way·ya·hă·rōḡ מֵאָ֨ה 120,000 {} mê·’āh וְעֶשְׂרִ֥ים . . . wə·‘eś·rîm אֶ֛לֶף . . . ’e·lep̄ הַכֹּ֣ל - hak·kōl חָ֑יִל valiant ḥā·yil בְּנֵי־ men bə·nê- בִּֽיהוּדָ֗ה in Judah . bî·hū·ḏāh בְּעָזְבָ֕ם [This happened] because they had forsaken bə·‘ā·zə·ḇām
