יְהוָ֣ה׀ YHWH , Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵ֣י the God ’ĕ·lō·hê יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל of Israel , yiś·rā·’êl נָתַ֨ן has given nā·ṯan מַמְלָכָ֧ה the kingship mam·lā·ḵāh עַל־ of ‘al- יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל Israel yiś·rā·’êl לְדָוִ֛יד to David lə·ḏā·wîḏ וּלְבָנָ֖יו and his descendants ū·lə·ḇā·nāw לְעוֹלָ֑ם forever lə·‘ō·w·lām ל֥וֹ lōw בְּרִ֥ית by a covenant bə·rîṯ מֶֽלַח׃ס of salt ? me·laḥ 2 Chronicles 13:6 יָרָבְעָ֣ם Yet Jeroboam yā·rā·ḇə·‘ām בֶּן־ son ben- נְבָ֔ט of Nebat , nə·ḇāṭ עֶ֖בֶד a servant ‘e·ḇeḏ שְׁלֹמֹ֣ה of Solomon šə·lō·mōh בֶן־ son ḇen- דָּוִ֑יד of David , dā·wîḏ וַיָּ֙קָם֙ rose up way·yā·qām וַיִּמְרֹ֖ד and rebelled way·yim·rōḏ עַל־ against ‘al- אֲדֹנָֽיו׃ his master . ’ă·ḏō·nāw 2 Chronicles 13:7 רֵקִים֙ Then worthless rê·qîm בְלִיַּ֔עַל and wicked ḇə·lî·ya·‘al בְּנֵ֣י men bə·nê וַיִּקָּבְצ֣וּ gathered way·yiq·qā·ḇə·ṣū עָלָ֗יו around him ‘ā·lāw אֲנָשִׁ֤ים . . . ’ă·nā·šîm וַיִּֽתְאַמְּצ֖וּ to resist way·yiṯ·’am·mə·ṣū עַל־ . . . ‘al- רְחַבְעָ֣ם Rehoboam rə·ḥaḇ·‘ām בֶּן־ son ben- שְׁלֹמֹ֑ה of Solomon šə·lō·mōh וּרְחַבְעָ֗ם when [he] ū·rə·ḥaḇ·‘ām הָ֤יָה was hā·yāh נַ֙עַר֙ young , na·‘ar וְרַךְ־ inexperienced , wə·raḵ- לֵבָ֔ב . . . lê·ḇāḇ וְלֹ֥א and unable wə·lō הִתְחַזַּ֖ק to resist hiṯ·ḥaz·zaq לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃ them . lip̄·nê·hem 2 Chronicles 13:8 וְעַתָּ֣ה׀ And now wə·‘at·tāh אַתֶּ֣ם you ’at·tem אֹֽמְרִ֗ים think ’ō·mə·rîm לְהִתְחַזֵּק֙ you can resist lə·hiṯ·ḥaz·zêq לִפְנֵי֙ . . . lip̄·nê מַמְלֶ֣כֶת the kingdom mam·le·ḵeṯ יְהוָ֔ה of YHWH , Yah·weh בְּיַ֖ד which is in the hands bə·yaḏ דָוִ֑יד of David’s ḏā·wîḏ בְּנֵ֣י descendants . bə·nê וְאַתֶּם֙ You wə·’at·tem רָ֔ב are indeed a vast rāḇ הָמ֣וֹן army , hā·mō·wn וְעִמָּכֶם֙ and you have with you wə·‘im·mā·ḵem זָהָ֔ב the golden zā·hāḇ עֶגְלֵ֣י calves ‘eḡ·lê אֲשֶׁ֨ר that ’ă·šer יָרָבְעָ֖ם Jeroboam yā·rā·ḇə·‘ām עָשָׂ֥ה made ‘ā·śāh לָכֶ֛ם for you lā·ḵem לֵאלֹהִֽים׃ as gods . lê·lō·hîm 2 Chronicles 13:9 הֲלֹ֤א But did you not hă·lō הִדַּחְתֶּם֙ drive out hid·daḥ·tem אֶת־ - ’eṯ- כֹּהֲנֵ֣י the priests kō·hă·nê יְהוָ֔ה of YHWH , Yah·weh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- בְּנֵ֥י the sons bə·nê אַהֲרֹ֖ן of Aaron , ’a·hă·rōn וְהַלְוִיִּ֑ם and the Levites ? wə·hal·wî·yim וַתַּעֲשׂ֨וּ And [did you not] make wat·ta·‘ă·śū כֹּהֲנִים֙ priests kō·hă·nîm לָכֶ֤ם for yourselves lā·ḵem כְּעַמֵּ֣י as do the peoples kə·‘am·mê הָאֲרָצ֔וֹת of other lands ? hā·’ă·rā·ṣō·wṯ כָּל־ Now whoever kāl- הַבָּ֗א comes hab·bā לְמַלֵּ֨א to consecrate lə·mal·lê יָד֜וֹ himself yā·ḏōw בְּפַ֤ר with a young bull bə·p̄ar בֶּן־ . . . ben- בָּקָר֙ . . . bā·qār שִׁבְעָ֔ה and seven šiḇ·‘āh וְאֵילִ֣ם rams wə·’ê·lim וְהָיָ֥ה can become wə·hā·yāh
