1 Chronicles 21:22 דָּוִ֜יד Then David dā·wîḏ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר said way·yō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- אָרְנָ֗ן Ornan , ’ā·rə·nān תְּנָה־ “ Grant tə·nāh- לִּי֙ me lî מְק֣וֹם the site mə·qō·wm הַגֹּ֔רֶן of this threshing floor , hag·gō·ren וְאֶבְנֶה־ that I may build wə·’eḇ·neh- בּ֥וֹ bōw מִזְבֵּ֖חַ an altar miz·bê·aḥ לַיהוָ֑ה to YHWH . Yah·weh תְּנֵ֣הוּ Sell it tə·nê·hū לִ֔י to me lî מָלֵא֙ for the full mā·lê בְּכֶ֤סֶף price , bə·ḵe·sep̄ הַמַּגֵּפָ֖ה so that the plague ham·mag·gê·p̄āh מֵעַ֥ל upon mê·‘al הָעָֽם׃ the people hā·‘ām וְתֵעָצַ֥ר may be halted . ” wə·ṯê·‘ā·ṣar 1 Chronicles 21:23 אָרְנָ֤ן Ornan ’ā·rə·nān וַיֹּ֨אמֶר said way·yō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- דָּוִיד֙ David , dā·wîḏ אֲדֹנִ֥י “ My lord ’ă·ḏō·nî הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ the king ham·me·leḵ קַֽח־ may take qaḥ- לָ֔ךְ lāḵ וְיַ֛עַשׂ whatever [seems] good wə·ya·‘aś הַטּ֣וֹב . . . haṭ·ṭō·wḇ בְּעֵינָ֑יו . . . . bə·‘ê·nāw רְאֵה֩ Look , rə·’êh נָתַ֨תִּי I will give nā·ṯat·tî הַבָּקָ֜ר the oxen hab·bā·qār לָֽעֹל֗וֹת for the burnt offerings , lā·‘ō·lō·wṯ וְהַמּוֹרִגִּ֧ים the threshing sledges wə·ham·mō·w·rig·gîm לָעֵצִ֛ים for the wood , lā·‘ê·ṣîm וְהַחִטִּ֥ים and the wheat wə·ha·ḥiṭ·ṭîm לַמִּנְחָ֖ה for the grain offering — lam·min·ḥāh נָתָֽתִּי׃ I will give nā·ṯāt·tî הַכֹּ֥ל it all . ” hak·kōl 1 Chronicles 21:24 לֹ֕א “ No , ” lō וַיֹּ֨אמֶר replied way·yō·mer לְאָרְנָ֔ן - lə·’ā·rə·nān הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ King ham·me·leḵ דָּוִיד֙ David , dā·wîḏ כִּֽי־ “ - kî- קָנֹ֥ה I insist on paying qā·nōh אֶקְנֶ֖ה . . . ’eq·neh מָלֵ֑א the full mā·lê בְּכֶ֣סֶף price , bə·ḵe·sep̄ כִּ֠י for kî לֹא־ I will not lō- אֶשָּׂ֤א take ’eś·śā לַיהוָ֔ה for YHWH Yah·weh אֲשֶׁר־ what ’ă·šer- לְךָ֙ belongs to you , lə·ḵā וְהַעֲל֥וֹת nor will I offer wə·ha·‘ă·lō·wṯ עוֹלָ֖ה burnt offerings ‘ō·w·lāh חִנָּֽם׃ that cost me nothing . ” ḥin·nām 1 Chronicles 21:25 דָּוִ֛יד So David dā·wîḏ וַיִּתֵּ֥ן paid way·yit·tên לְאָרְנָ֖ן Ornan lə·’ā·rə·nān שֵׁ֥שׁ six šêš מֵאֽוֹת׃ hundred mê·’ō·wṯ שִׁקְלֵ֣י shekels šiq·lê זָהָ֔ב of gold zā·hāḇ מִשְׁקָ֖ל . . . miš·qāl בַּמָּק֑וֹם for the site . bam·mā·qō·wm 1 Chronicles 21:26 דָּוִ֤יד And dā·wîḏ שָׁ֨ם there šām וַיִּבֶן֩ he built way·yi·ḇen מִזְבֵּ֙חַ֙ an altar miz·bê·aḥ לַיהוָ֔ה to YHWH Yah·weh וַיַּ֥עַל and offered way·ya·‘al עֹל֖וֹת burnt offerings ‘ō·lō·wṯ וּשְׁלָמִ֑ים and peace offerings . ū·šə·lā·mîm וַיִּקְרָא֙ He called way·yiq·rā אֶל־ upon ’el- יְהוָ֔ה YHWH , Yah·weh וַיַּֽעֲנֵ֤הוּ who answered him way·ya·‘ă·nê·hū בָאֵשׁ֙ with fire ḇā·’êš מִן־ from min- הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם heaven haš·šā·ma·yim עַ֖ל on ‘al מִזְבַּ֥ח the altar miz·baḥ
