1 Chronicles 14:8 פְלִשְׁתִּ֗ים When the Philistines p̄ə·liš·tîm וַיִּשְׁמְע֣וּ heard way·yiš·mə·‘ū כִּי־ that kî- דָּוִ֤יד David dā·wîḏ נִמְשַׁ֨ח had been anointed nim·šaḥ לְמֶ֙לֶךְ֙ king lə·me·leḵ עַל־ over ‘al- כָּל־ all kāl- יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל Israel , yiś·rā·’êl פְּלִשְׁתִּ֖ים they pə·liš·tîm כָל־ all ḵāl וַיַּעֲל֥וּ went way·ya·‘ă·lū לְבַקֵּ֣שׁ in search lə·ḇaq·qêš אֶת־ - ’eṯ- דָּוִ֑יד of [him] ; dā·wîḏ דָּוִ֔יד but David dā·wîḏ וַיִּשְׁמַ֣ע learned [of this] way·yiš·ma‘ וַיֵּצֵ֖א and went out way·yê·ṣê לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃ to face them . lip̄·nê·hem 1 Chronicles 14:9 וּפְלִשְׁתִּ֖ים Now the Philistines ū·p̄ə·liš·tîm בָּ֑אוּ had come bā·’ū וַֽיִּפְשְׁט֖וּ and raided way·yip̄·šə·ṭū בְּעֵ֥מֶק the Valley bə·‘ê·meq רְפָאִֽים׃ of Rephaim . rə·p̄ā·’îm 1 Chronicles 14:10 דָּוִ֤יד So David dā·wîḏ וַיִּשְׁאַ֨ל inquired way·yiš·’al בֵּאלֹהִים֙ of God bê·lō·hîm לֵאמֹ֔ר , lê·mōr הַאֶֽעֱלֶה֙ “ Should I go up ha·’e·‘ĕ·leh עַל־ against ‘al- פְּלִשְׁתִּיִּים the Philistines ? pə·liš·tī·yīm וּנְתַתָּ֖ם Will You deliver them ū·nə·ṯat·tām בְּיָדִ֑י into my hand ? ” bə·yā·ḏî עֲלֵ֔ה “ Go , ” ‘ă·lêh וַיֹּ֨אמֶר replied way·yō·mer ל֤וֹ lōw יְהוָה֙ YHWH , Yah·weh וּנְתַתִּ֖ים “ for I will deliver them ū·nə·ṯat·tîm בְּיָדֶֽךָ׃ into your hand . ” bə·yā·ḏe·ḵā 1 Chronicles 14:11 וַיַּעֲל֥וּ So [David and his men] went up way·ya·‘ă·lū בְּבַֽעַל־ to bə·ḇa·‘al- פְּרָצִים֮ Baal-perazim , pə·rā·ṣîm דָּוִיד֒ where [he] dā·wîḏ וַיַּכֵּ֣ם defeated way·yak·kêm שָׁ֣ם the Philistines šām דָּוִ֔יד [and] dā·wîḏ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said , way·yō·mer כְּפֶ֣רֶץ “ Like a bursting kə·p̄e·reṣ מָ֑יִם flood , mā·yim הָֽאֱלֹהִ֧ים God hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm אֶת־ - ’eṯ- פָּרַ֨ץ has burst out pā·raṣ אוֹיְבַ֛י against my enemies ’ō·wy·ḇay בְּיָדִ֖י by my hand . ” bə·yā·ḏî עַל־ So ‘al- כֵּ֗ן . . . kên קָֽרְא֛וּ they called qā·rə·’ū שֵֽׁם־ . . . šêm- הַה֖וּא that ha·hū בַּ֥עַל ba·‘al הַמָּק֥וֹם place ham·mā·qō·wm פְּרָצִֽים׃ Baal-perazim . pə·rā·ṣîm 1 Chronicles 14:12 שָׁ֖ם There šām וַיַּעַזְבוּ־ the Philistines abandoned way·ya·‘az·ḇū- אֱלֹֽהֵיהֶ֑ם their gods , ’ĕ·lō·hê·hem אֶת־ - ’eṯ- דָּוִ֔יד and David dā·wîḏ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ordered way·yō·mer וַיִּשָּׂרְפ֖וּ that they be burned way·yiś·śā·rə·p̄ū בָּאֵֽשׁ׃פ in the fire . bā·’êš 1 Chronicles 14:13 וַיֹּסִ֤יפוּ Once again way·yō·sî·p̄ū עוֹד֙ . . . ‘ō·wḏ פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים the Philistines pə·liš·tîm וַֽיִּפְשְׁט֖וּ raided way·yip̄·šə·ṭū בָּעֵֽמֶק׃ the valley . bā·‘ê·meq 1 Chronicles 14:14 דָּוִיד֙ So David dā·wîḏ ע֤וֹד again ‘ō·wḏ וַיִּשְׁאַ֨ל inquired way·yiš·’al בֵּֽאלֹהִ֔ים of God , bê·lō·hîm הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים who hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm וַיֹּ֤אמֶר answered way·yō·mer
