וַיָּצֻ֙רוּ֙ They besieged way·yā·ṣu·rū עַל־ . . . ‘al- אָחָ֔ז Ahaz ’ā·ḥāz יָכְל֖וּ but could yā·ḵə·lū וְלֹ֥א not wə·lō לְהִלָּחֵֽם׃ overcome [him] . lə·hil·lā·ḥêm 2 Kings 16:6 הַהִ֗יא At that ha·hî בָּעֵ֣ת time bā·‘êṯ רְצִ֨ין Rezin rə·ṣîn מֶֽלֶךְ־ king me·leḵ- אֲרָ֤ם of Aram ’ă·rām אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הֵ֠שִׁיב recovered hê·šîḇ אֵילַת֙ Elath ’ê·laṯ לַֽאֲרָ֔ם for Aram , la·’ă·rām וַיְנַשֵּׁ֥ל drove out way·naš·šêl אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַיְהוּדִ֖ים the men of Judah hay·hū·ḏîm מֵֽאֵיל֑וֹת - , mê·’ê·lō·wṯ בָּ֣אוּ and sent bā·’ū וַאֲרַמִּים the Edomites wa·ʾă·ram·mīm אֵילַ֔ת into Elath , ’ê·laṯ שָׁ֔ם where šām וַיֵּ֣שְׁבוּ they live way·yê·šə·ḇū עַ֖ד to ‘aḏ הַזֶּֽה׃פ this haz·zeh הַיּ֥וֹם day . hay·yō·wm 2 Kings 16:7 אָחָ֜ז So Ahaz ’ā·ḥāz וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח sent way·yiš·laḥ מַלְאָכִ֗ים messengers mal·’ā·ḵîm אֶל־ to ’el- תִּ֠גְלַת vvv tiḡ·laṯ פְּלֶ֤סֶר Tiglath-pileser pə·le·ser מֶֽלֶךְ־ king me·leḵ- אַשּׁוּר֙ of Assyria , ’aš·šūr לֵאמֹ֔ר saying , lê·mōr אָ֑נִי “ I ’ā·nî עַבְדְּךָ֥ am your servant ‘aḇ·də·ḵā וּבִנְךָ֖ and your son . ū·ḇin·ḵā עֲלֵ֨ה Come up ‘ă·lêh וְהוֹשִׁעֵ֜נִי and save me wə·hō·wō·ši·‘ê·nî מִכַּ֣ף from the hands mik·kap̄ מֶֽלֶךְ־ of the kings me·leḵ- אֲרָ֗ם of Aram ’ă·rām וּמִכַּף֙ . . . ū·mik·kap̄ מֶ֣לֶךְ [and] me·leḵ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל Israel , yiś·rā·’êl הַקּוֹמִ֖ים who are rising up haq·qō·w·mîm עָלָֽי׃ against me . ” ‘ā·lāy 2 Kings 16:8 אָחָ֜ז Ahaz ’ā·ḥāz אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיִּקַּ֨ח also took way·yiq·qaḥ הַכֶּ֣סֶף the silver hak·ke·sep̄ וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- הַזָּהָ֗ב and gold haz·zā·hāḇ הַנִּמְצָא֙ found han·nim·ṣā בֵּ֣ית in the house bêṯ יְהוָ֔ה of YHWH Yah·weh וּבְאֹֽצְר֖וֹת and in the treasuries ū·ḇə·’ō·ṣə·rō·wṯ הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ of the king’s ham·me·leḵ בֵּ֣ית palace , bêṯ וַיִּשְׁלַ֥ח and he sent it way·yiš·laḥ שֹֽׁחַד׃ as a gift šō·ḥaḏ לְמֶֽלֶךְ־ to the king lə·me·leḵ- אַשּׁ֖וּר of Assyria . ’aš·šūr 2 Kings 16:9 מֶ֣לֶךְ So the king me·leḵ אַשּׁ֔וּר of Assyria ’aš·šūr וַיִּשְׁמַ֤ע responded way·yiš·ma‘ אֵלָיו֙ to him , ’ê·lāw וַיַּעַל֩ marched up way·ya·‘al מֶ֨לֶךְ . . . me·leḵ אַשּׁ֤וּר . . . ’aš·šūr אֶל־ to ’el- דַּמֶּ֙שֶׂק֙ Damascus , dam·me·śeq וַֽיִּתְפְּשֶׂ֔הָ and captured it . way·yiṯ·pə·śe·hā וַיַּגְלֶ֖הָ He took its people way·yaḡ·le·hā קִ֑ירָה to Kir as captives qî·rāh וְאֶת־ and wə·’eṯ- רְצִ֖ין put Rezin rə·ṣîn הֵמִֽית׃ to death . hê·mîṯ 2 Kings 16:10 הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ Then King ham·me·leḵ אָחָ֡ז Ahaz ’ā·ḥāz וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ went way·yê·leḵ דּוּמֶּ֔שֶׂק to Damascus dūm·me·śeq לִ֠קְרַאת to meet liq·raṯ
