בִּשְׁנַ֨ת year biš·naṯ שָׁנָ֔ה šā·nāh לַעֲזַרְיָ֖ה of Azariah’s la·‘ă·zar·yāh מֶ֣לֶךְ reign me·leḵ יְהוּדָ֑ה over Judah , yə·hū·ḏāh מְנַחֵ֨ם Menahem mə·na·ḥêm בֶּן־ son ben- גָּדִ֧י of Gadi gā·ḏî מָ֠לַךְ became king mā·laḵ עַל־ of ‘al- יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל Israel , yiś·rā·’êl בְּשֹׁמְרֽוֹן׃ [and he reigned] in Samaria bə·šō·mə·rō·wn עֶ֥שֶׂר ten ‘e·śer שָׁנִ֖ים years . šā·nîm 2 Kings 15:18 וַיַּ֥עַשׂ And he did way·ya·‘aś הָרַ֖ע evil hā·ra‘ בְּעֵינֵ֣י in the sight bə·‘ê·nê יְהוָ֑ה of YHWH , Yah·weh כָּל־ and throughout kāl- יָמָֽיו׃ his reign yā·māw לֹ֣א he did not lō סָ֠ר turn away sār מֵעַ֨ל from mê·‘al חַטֹּ֜אות the sins that ḥaṭ·ṭō·wṯ יָרָבְעָ֧ם Jeroboam yā·rā·ḇə·‘ām בֶּן־ son ben- נְבָ֛ט of Nebat nə·ḇāṭ אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל had caused Israel yiś·rā·’êl הֶחֱטִ֥יא to commit . he·ḥĕ·ṭî אֶת־ - ’eṯ- 2 Kings 15:19 פ֤וּל Then Pul p̄ūl מֶֽלֶךְ־ king me·leḵ- אַשּׁוּר֙ of Assyria ’aš·šūr בָּ֣א invaded bā עַל־ . . . ‘al- הָאָ֔רֶץ the land , hā·’ā·reṣ מְנַחֵם֙ and Menahem mə·na·ḥêm וַיִּתֵּ֤ן gave way·yit·tên לְפ֔וּל Pul lə·p̄ūl אֶ֖לֶף a thousand ’e·lep̄ כִּכַּר־ talents kik·kar- כָּ֑סֶף of silver kā·sep̄ לִהְי֤וֹת in order to gain his support lih·yō·wṯ יָדָיו֙ . . . yā·ḏāw אִתּ֔וֹ . . . ’it·tōw לְהַחֲזִ֥יק and strengthen lə·ha·ḥă·zîq בְּיָדֽוֹ׃ his own grip bə·yā·ḏōw הַמַּמְלָכָ֖ה on the kingdom . ham·mam·lā·ḵāh 2 Kings 15:20 מְנַחֵ֨ם Menahem mə·na·ḥêm אֶת־ ’eṯ- וַיֹּצֵא֩ exacted way·yō·ṣê הַכֶּ֜סֶף this money hak·ke·sep̄ עַל־ from ‘al- עַ֚ל . . . ‘al כָּל־ each kāl- הַחַ֔יִל of the wealthy ha·ḥa·yil גִּבּוֹרֵ֣י men gib·bō·w·rê יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל of Israel — yiś·rā·’êl חֲמִשִּׁ֧ים fifty ḥă·miš·šîm שְׁקָלִ֛ים shekels šə·qā·lîm כֶּ֖סֶף of silver ke·sep̄ אֶחָ֑ד from each ’e·ḥāḏ לְאִ֣ישׁ man — lə·’îš לָתֵת֙ to give lā·ṯêṯ לְמֶ֣לֶךְ to the king lə·me·leḵ אַשּׁ֔וּר of Assyria . ’aš·šūr מֶ֣לֶךְ So the king me·leḵ אַשּׁ֔וּר of Assyria ’aš·šūr וַיָּ֙שָׁב֙ withdrew way·yā·šāḇ וְלֹא־ and did not wə·lō- עָ֥מַד remain ‘ā·maḏ שָׁ֖ם . . . šām בָּאָֽרֶץ׃ in the land . bā·’ā·reṣ 2 Kings 15:21 וְיֶ֛תֶר As for the rest wə·ye·ṯer דִּבְרֵ֥י of the acts diḇ·rê מְנַחֵ֖ם of Menahem , mə·na·ḥêm וְכָל־ along with all wə·ḵāl אֲשֶׁ֣ר his accomplishments ’ă·šer עָשָׂ֑ה . . . , ‘ā·śāh הֲלוֹא־ . . . hă·lō·w- הֵ֣ם . . . hêm כְּתוּבִ֗ים are they not written kə·ṯū·ḇîm עַל־ in ‘al- סֵ֛פֶר the Book sê·p̄er דִּבְרֵ֥י of the Chronicles diḇ·rê הַיָּמִ֖ים . . . hay·yā·mîm לְמַלְכֵ֥י of the Kings lə·mal·ḵê
