2 Kings 14:4 רַ֥ק Nevertheless , raq הַבָּמ֖וֹת the high places hab·bā·mō·wṯ לֹא־ were not lō- סָ֑רוּ taken away , sā·rū הָעָ֛ם and the people hā·‘ām ע֥וֹד continued ‘ō·wḏ מְזַבְּחִ֥ים sacrificing mə·zab·bə·ḥîm וּֽמְקַטְּרִ֖ים and burning incense ū·mə·qaṭ·ṭə·rîm בַּבָּמֽוֹת׃ on the high places . bab·bā·mō·wṯ 2 Kings 14:5 וַיְהִ֕י - way·hî כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר As soon as ka·’ă·šer הַמַּמְלָכָ֖ה the kingdom ham·mam·lā·ḵāh חָזְקָ֥ה was firmly ḥā·zə·qāh בְּיָד֑וֹ in his grasp , bə·yā·ḏōw וַיַּךְ֙ Amaziah executed way·yaḵ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- עֲבָדָ֔יו the servants ‘ă·ḇā·ḏāw הַמַּכִּ֖ים who had murdered ham·mak·kîm אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אָבִֽיו׃ his father ’ā·ḇîw הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ the king . ham·me·leḵ 2 Kings 14:6 וְאֶת־ Yet wə·’eṯ- לֹ֣א he did not lō בְּנֵ֥י put the sons bə·nê הַמַּכִּ֖ים of the murderers ham·mak·kîm הֵמִ֑ית to death , hê·mîṯ כַּכָּת֣וּב [but acted] according to what is written kak·kā·ṯūḇ בְּסֵ֣פֶר in the Book bə·sê·p̄er תּֽוֹרַת־ of the Law tō·w·raṯ- מֹ֠שֶׁה of Moses , mō·šeh אֲשֶׁר־ where ’ă·šer- יְהוָ֜ה YHWH Yah·weh לֵאמֹ֗ר . . . lê·mōr צִוָּ֨ה commanded : ṣiw·wāh אָב֤וֹת “ Fathers ’ā·ḇō·wṯ לֹא־ must not lō- יוּמְת֨וּ be put to death yū·mə·ṯū עַל־ for ‘al- בָּנִים֙ their children , bā·nîm וּבָנִים֙ and children ū·ḇā·nîm לֹא־ must not lō- יוּמְת֣וּ be put to death yū·mə·ṯū עַל־ for ‘al- אָב֔וֹת their fathers ; ’ā·ḇō·wṯ כִּ֛י kî אִם־ ’im- אִ֥ישׁ each ’îš יָמוּת׃ is to die yå̄·mūṯ בְּחֶטְא֖וֹ for his own sin . ” bə·ḥeṭ·’ōw 2 Kings 14:7 הוּא־ Amaziah hū- הִכָּ֨ה struck down hik·kāh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- עֲשֶׂ֣רֶת 10,000 {} ‘ă·śe·reṯ אֲלָפִ֔ים . . . ’ă·lā·p̄îm אֱד֤וֹם Edomites ’ĕ·ḏō·wm בְּגֵיא־ in the Valley of Salt . bə·ḡê- הַמֶּלַח . . . ham·mɛ·laḥ וְתָפַ֥שׂ He took wə·ṯā·p̄aś אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַסֶּ֖לַע Sela has·se·la‘ בַּמִּלְחָמָ֑ה in battle bam·mil·ḥā·māh וַיִּקְרָ֤א and called way·yiq·rā אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יָקְתְאֵ֔ל it Joktheel , yā·qə·ṯə·’êl שְׁמָהּ֙ [which is] its name šə·māh עַ֖ד to ‘aḏ הַזֶּֽה׃פ this very haz·zeh הַיּ֥וֹם day . hay·yō·wm 2 Kings 14:8 אָ֣ז Then ’āz אֲמַצְיָה֙ Amaziah ’ă·maṣ·yāh שָׁלַ֤ח sent šā·laḥ מַלְאָכִ֔ים messengers mal·’ā·ḵîm אֶל־ to ’el- מֶ֥לֶךְ the king me·leḵ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel yiś·rā·’êl יְהוֹאָ֨שׁ Jehoash yə·hō·w·’āš בֶּן־ son ben- יְהוֹאָחָ֧ז of Jehoahaz , yə·hō·w·’ā·ḥāz בֶּן־ the son ben- יֵה֛וּא of Jehu . yê·hū לְכָ֖ה “ Come , lə·ḵāh נִתְרָאֶ֥ה let us meet niṯ·rā·’eh פָנִֽים׃ face to face , ” p̄ā·nîm לֵאמֹ֑ר he said . lê·mōr
