אַחְאָ֖ב of Ahab , ’aḥ·’āḇ לֵאמֹֽר׃ saying : lê·mōr 2 Kings 10:2 הַזֶּה֙ “ When this haz·zeh אֲלֵיכֶ֔ם . . . ’ă·lê·ḵem הַסֵּ֤פֶר letter has·sê·p̄er כְּבֹ֨א arrives , kə·ḇō וְעַתָּ֗ה since wə·‘at·tāh אֲדֹנֵיכֶ֑ם your master’s ’ă·ḏō·nê·ḵem בְּנֵ֣י sons bə·nê וְאִתְּכֶ֖ם are with you wə·’it·tə·ḵem וְאִתְּכֶם֙ and you have wə·’it·tə·ḵem הָרֶ֣כֶב chariots hā·re·ḵeḇ וְהַסּוּסִ֔ים and horses , wə·has·sū·sîm מִבְצָ֖ר a fortified miḇ·ṣār וְעִ֥יר city wə·‘îr וְהַנָּֽשֶׁק׃ and weaponry , wə·han·nā·šeq 2 Kings 10:3 וּרְאִיתֶ֞ם select ū·rə·’î·ṯem הַטּ֤וֹב the best haṭ·ṭō·wḇ וְהַיָּשָׁר֙ and most worthy wə·hay·yā·šār מִבְּנֵ֣י son mib·bə·nê אֲדֹנֵיכֶ֔ם of your master , ’ă·ḏō·nê·ḵem וְשַׂמְתֶּ֖ם set him wə·śam·tem עַל־ on ‘al- אָבִ֑יו his father’s ’ā·ḇîw כִּסֵּ֣א throne , kis·sê וְהִֽלָּחֲמ֖וּ and fight wə·hil·lā·ḥă·mū עַל־ for ‘al- אֲדֹנֵיכֶֽם׃ your master’s ’ă·ḏō·nê·ḵem בֵּ֥ית house . ” bêṯ 2 Kings 10:4 וַיִּֽרְאוּ֙ But they were terrified way·yir·’ū מְאֹ֣ד . . . mə·’ōḏ מְאֹ֔ד . . . mə·’ōḏ וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ and reasoned , way·yō·mə·rū הִנֵּה֙ “ If hin·nêh שְׁנֵ֣י two šə·nê הַמְּלָכִ֔ים kings ham·mə·lā·ḵîm לֹ֥א could not lō עָמְד֖וּ stand ‘ā·mə·ḏū לְפָנָ֑יו against him , lə·p̄ā·nāw וְאֵ֖יךְ how wə·’êḵ נַעֲמֹ֥ד . . . na·‘ă·mōḏ אֲנָֽחְנוּ׃ can we ? ” ’ă·nā·ḥə·nū 2 Kings 10:5 הַבַּ֣יִת So the palace hab·ba·yiṯ אֲשֶׁר־ administrator ’ă·šer- עַל־ . . . , ‘al- וַאֲשֶׁ֪ר the overseer wa·’ă·šer עַל־ . . . ‘al- הָעִ֟יר of the city , hā·‘îr וְהַזְּקֵנִים֩ the elders , wə·haz·zə·qê·nîm וְהָאֹמְנִ֨ים and the guardians wə·hā·’ō·mə·nîm וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח sent way·yiš·laḥ אֶל־ a message to ’el- יֵה֤וּא׀ Jehu : yê·hū לֵאמֹר֙ lê·mōr אֲנַ֔חְנוּ “ We ’ă·naḥ·nū עֲבָדֶ֣יךָ are your servants , ‘ă·ḇā·ḏe·ḵā נַעֲשֶׂ֑ה and we will do na·‘ă·śeh וְכֹ֛ל whatever wə·ḵōl אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- תֹּאמַ֥ר you say tō·mar אֵלֵ֖ינוּ . . . . ’ê·lê·nū לֹֽא־ We will not lō- אִ֔ישׁ make anyone ’îš נַמְלִ֣יךְ king . nam·lîḵ עֲשֵֽׂה׃ Do ‘ă·śêh הַטּ֥וֹב [whatever is] good haṭ·ṭō·wḇ בְּעֵינֶ֖יךָ in your sight . ” bə·‘ê·ne·ḵā 2 Kings 10:6 וַיִּכְתֹּ֣ב Then Jehu wrote way·yiḵ·tōḇ אֲלֵיהֶם֩ them ’ă·lê·hem שֵׁנִ֜ית a second šê·nîṯ סֵ֨פֶר׀ letter sê·p̄er לֵאמֹ֗ר and said : lê·mōr אִם־ “ If ’im- לִ֨י vvv lî אַתֶּ֜ם you are on my side , ’at·tem וּלְקֹלִ֣י׀ - ū·lə·qō·lî אַתֶּ֣ם and if you ’at·tem שֹׁמְעִ֗ים will obey me , šō·mə·‘îm קְחוּ֙ then bring qə·ḥū רָאשֵׁי֙ the heads rā·šê אַנְשֵׁ֣י . . . ’an·šê אֲדֹנֵיכֶ֔ם of your master’s ’ă·ḏō·nê·ḵem וּבֹ֧אוּ . . . ū·ḇō·’ū אֵלַ֛י . . . ’ê·lay בְנֵֽי־ sons ḇə·nê-
