יְהוֹשָׁפָֽט׃ but Jehoshaphat yə·hō·wō·šā·p̄āṭ וַיִּזְעַ֖ק cried out . way·yiz·‘aq 1 Kings 22:33 וַיְהִ֗י And way·hî הָרֶ֔כֶב when the chariot hā·re·ḵeḇ שָׂרֵ֣י commanders śā·rê כִּרְאוֹת֙ saw kir·’ō·wṯ כִּֽי־ that kî- ה֑וּא he hū לֹא־ was not lō- מֶ֥לֶךְ the king me·leḵ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel , yiś·rā·’êl וַיָּשׁ֖וּבוּ they turned back way·yā·šū·ḇū מֵאַחֲרָֽיו׃ from pursuing him . mê·’a·ḥă·rāw 1 Kings 22:34 וְאִ֗ישׁ However, a [certain] man wə·’îš מָשַׁ֤ךְ drew mā·šaḵ בַּקֶּ֙שֶׁת֙ his bow baq·qe·šeṯ לְתֻמּ֔וֹ without taking special aim , lə·ṯum·mōw וַיַּכֶּה֙ and he struck way·yak·keh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- מֶ֣לֶךְ the king me·leḵ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of Israel yiś·rā·’êl בֵּ֥ין between bên הַדְּבָקִ֖ים the joints had·də·ḇā·qîm וּבֵ֣ין . . . ū·ḇên הַשִּׁרְיָ֑ן of his armor . haš·šir·yān וַיֹּ֣אמֶר So [the king] said way·yō·mer לְרַכָּב֗וֹ to his charioteer , lə·rak·kā·ḇōw הֲפֹ֥ךְ “ Turn around hă·p̄ōḵ יָדְךָ֛ . . . yā·ḏə·ḵā וְהוֹצִיאֵ֥נִי and take me out wə·hō·w·ṣî·’ê·nî מִן־ of min- הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֖ה the battle , ham·ma·ḥă·neh כִּ֥י for kî הָחֳלֵֽיתִי׃ I am badly wounded ! ” hā·ḥo·lê·ṯî 1 Kings 22:35 הַמִּלְחָמָה֙ The battle ham·mil·ḥā·māh וַתַּעֲלֶ֤ה raged wat·ta·‘ă·leh הַה֔וּא throughout that ha·hū בַּיּ֣וֹם day , bay·yō·wm וְהַמֶּ֗לֶךְ and the king wə·ham·me·leḵ הָיָ֧ה was hā·yāh מָעֳמָ֛ד propped up mā·‘o·māḏ בַּמֶּרְכָּבָ֖ה in his chariot bam·mer·kā·ḇāh נֹ֣כַח facing nō·ḵaḥ אֲרָ֑ם the Arameans . ’ă·rām דַּֽם־ And the blood dam- הַמַּכָּ֖ה from his wound ham·mak·kāh וַיִּ֥צֶק ran out way·yi·ṣeq אֶל־ onto ’el- חֵ֥יק the floor ḥêq הָרָֽכֶב׃ of the chariot , hā·rā·ḵeḇ בָּעֶ֔רֶב and that evening bā·‘e·reḇ וַיָּ֣מָת he died . way·yā·māṯ 1 Kings 22:36 הַשֶּׁ֖מֶשׁ As the sun haš·še·meš כְּבֹ֥א was setting , kə·ḇō הָרִנָּה֙ the cry hā·rin·nāh וַיַּעֲבֹ֤ר rang out way·ya·‘ă·ḇōr בַּֽמַּחֲנֶ֔ה in the army bam·ma·ḥă·neh לֵאמֹ֑ר - : lê·mōr אִ֥ישׁ “ Every man ’îš אֶל־ to ’el- עִיר֖וֹ his own city , ‘î·rōw וְאִ֥ישׁ and every man wə·’îš אֶל־ to ’el- אַרְצֽוֹ׃ his own land ! ” ’ar·ṣōw 1 Kings 22:37 הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ So the king ham·me·leḵ וַיָּ֣מָת died way·yā·māṯ וַיָּב֖וֹא and was brought way·yā·ḇō·w שֹׁמְר֑וֹן to Samaria , šō·mə·rō·wn וַיִּקְבְּר֥וּ where they buried way·yiq·bə·rū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ [him] ham·me·leḵ בְּשֹׁמְרֽוֹן׃ - . bə·šō·mə·rō·wn 1 Kings 22:38 הָרֶ֜כֶב And the chariot hā·re·ḵeḇ וַיִּשְׁטֹ֨ף was washed way·yiš·ṭōp̄ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- עַ֣ל׀ at ‘al בְּרֵכַ֣ת the pool bə·rê·ḵaṯ שֹׁמְר֗וֹן of Samaria šō·mə·rō·wn וְהַזֹּנ֖וֹת where the prostitutes wə·haz·zō·nō·wṯ רָחָ֑צוּ bathed , rā·ḥā·ṣū הַכְּלָבִים֙ and the dogs hak·kə·lā·ḇîm אֶת־ - ’eṯ-
