וַיּוֹרִדֵ֤ם brought them down way·yō·w·ri·ḏêm אֶל־ to ’el- קִישׁ֔וֹן the Kishon qî·šō·wn נַ֣חַל Valley na·ḥal וַיִּשְׁחָטֵ֖ם and slaughtered them way·yiš·ḥā·ṭêm שָֽׁם׃ there . šām 1 Kings 18:41 אֵלִיָּ֙הוּ֙ And Elijah ’ê·lî·yā·hū וַיֹּ֤אמֶר said way·yō·mer לְאַחְאָ֔ב to Ahab , lə·’aḥ·’āḇ עֲלֵ֖ה “ Go up , ‘ă·lêh אֱכֹ֣ל eat ’ĕ·ḵōl וּשְׁתֵ֑ה and drink , ū·šə·ṯêh כִּי־ for kî- ק֖וֹל there is the sound qō·wl הֲמ֥וֹן of a heavy hă·mō·wn הַגָּֽשֶׁם׃ rain . ” hag·gā·šem 1 Kings 18:42 אַחְאָ֖ב So Ahab ’aḥ·’āḇ וַיַּעֲלֶ֥ה went up way·ya·‘ă·leh לֶאֱכֹ֣ל to eat le·’ĕ·ḵōl וְלִשְׁתּ֑וֹת and drink . wə·liš·tō·wṯ וְאֵ֨לִיָּ֜הוּ But Elijah wə·’ê·lî·yā·hū עָלָ֨ה climbed ‘ā·lāh אֶל־ to ’el- רֹ֤אשׁ the summit rōš הַכַּרְמֶל֙ of Carmel , hak·kar·mel וַיִּגְהַ֣ר bent down way·yiḡ·har אַ֔רְצָה on the ground , ’ar·ṣāh וַיָּ֥שֶׂם and put way·yā·śem פָּנָ֖יו his face pā·nāw בֵּ֥ין between bên בְּרָכוֹ׃ his knees . bə·rå̄·ḵō 1 Kings 18:43 עֲלֵֽה־ “ Go ‘ă·lêh- נָא֙ . . . nā הַבֵּ֣ט and look hab·bêṭ דֶּֽרֶךְ־ toward de·reḵ- יָ֔ם the sea , ” yām וַיֹּ֣אמֶר he said way·yō·mer אֶֽל־ to ’el- נַעֲר֗וֹ his servant . na·‘ă·rōw וַיַּ֙עַל֙ So [the servant] went way·ya·‘al וַיַּבֵּ֔ט and looked , way·yab·bêṭ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר and he said , way·yō·mer אֵ֣ין “ [There is] nothing there ’ên מְא֑וּמָה . . . . ” mə·’ū·māh שֶׁ֥בַע Seven še·ḇa‘ פְּעָמִֽים׃ times pə·‘ā·mîm וַיֹּ֕אמֶר Elijah said , way·yō·mer שֻׁ֖ב “ Go back . ” šuḇ 1 Kings 18:44 וַֽיְהִי֙ - way·hî בַּשְּׁבִעִ֔ית On the seventh time baš·šə·ḇi·‘îṯ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר [the servant] reported , way·yō·mer הִנֵּה־ “ There is hin·nêh- עָ֛ב a cloud ‘āḇ קְטַנָּ֥ה as small qə·ṭan·nāh אִ֖ישׁ as a man’s ’îš כְּכַף־ hand kə·ḵap̄- עֹלָ֣ה rising ‘ō·lāh מִיָּ֑ם from the sea . ” mî·yām וַיֹּ֗אמֶר And Elijah replied , way·yō·mer עֲלֵ֨ה “ Go ‘ă·lêh אֱמֹ֤ר and tell ’ĕ·mōr אֶל־ . . . ’el- אַחְאָב֙ Ahab , ’aḥ·’āḇ אֱסֹ֣ר ‘ Prepare [your chariot] ’ĕ·sōr וָרֵ֔ד and go down wā·rêḏ הַגָּֽשֶׁם׃ before the rain hag·gā·šem וְלֹ֥א . . . wə·lō יַעַצָרְכָ֖ה stops you . ’” ya·‘a·ṣā·rə·ḵāh 1 Kings 18:45 וַיְהִ֣י׀ Meanwhile way·hî עַד־ . . . ‘aḏ- כֹּ֣ה . . . kōh וְעַד־ . . . wə·‘aḏ- כֹּ֗ה . . . , kōh וְהַשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙ the sky wə·haš·šā·ma·yim הִֽתְקַדְּרוּ֙ grew dark hiṯ·qad·də·rū עָבִ֣ים with clouds ‘ā·ḇîm וְר֔וּחַ and wind , wə·rū·aḥ גָּד֑וֹל and a heavy gā·ḏō·wl גֶּ֣שֶׁם rain ge·šem וַיְהִ֖י began to fall . way·hî אַחְאָ֖ב So Ahab ’aḥ·’āḇ וַיִּרְכַּ֥ב rode away way·yir·kaḇ וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ and went way·yê·leḵ יִזְרְעֶֽאלָה׃ to Jezreel . yiz·rə·‘e·lāh
