1 Kings 3:16 אָ֣ז At that time ’āz שְׁתַּ֛יִם two šə·ta·yim נָשִׁ֥ים vvv nā·šîm זֹנ֖וֹת prostitutes zō·nō·wṯ תָּבֹ֗אנָה came tā·ḇō·nāh אֶל־ to ’el- הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ the king ham·me·leḵ וַֽתַּעֲמֹ֖דְנָה and stood wat·ta·‘ă·mō·ḏə·nāh לְפָנָֽיו׃ before him . lə·p̄ā·nāw 1 Kings 3:17 הָֽאַחַת֙ One hā·’a·ḥaṯ הָאִשָּׁ֤ה woman hā·’iš·šāh וַתֹּ֜אמֶר said , wat·tō·mer בִּ֣י “ Please , bî אֲדֹנִ֔י my lord , ’ă·ḏō·nî הַזֹּ֔את this haz·zōṯ וְהָאִשָּׁ֣ה woman wə·hā·’iš·šāh אֲנִי֙ and I ’ă·nî יֹשְׁבֹ֖ת live yō·šə·ḇōṯ אֶחָ֑ד in the same ’e·ḥāḏ בְּבַ֣יִת house , bə·ḇa·yiṯ וָאֵלֵ֥ד and I gave birth wā·’ê·lêḏ עִמָּ֖הּ while she [was] ‘im·māh בַּבָּֽיִת׃ in the house . bab·bā·yiṯ 1 Kings 3:18 וַיְהִ֞י - way·hî הַשְּׁלִישִׁי֙ On the third haš·šə·lî·šî בַּיּ֤וֹם day bay·yō·wm לְלִדְתִּ֔י after I gave birth , lə·liḏ·tî הָאִשָּׁ֣ה this woman hā·’iš·šāh הַזֹּ֑את . . . haz·zōṯ גַּם־ also gam- וַתֵּ֖לֶד had a baby . wat·tê·leḏ וַאֲנַ֣חְנוּ We wa·’ă·naḥ·nū יַחְדָּ֗ו were alone , yaḥ·dāw אִתָּ֙נוּ֙ with ’it·tā·nū אֵֽין־ no ’ên- זָ֤ר one zār בַּבַּ֔יִת in the house bab·ba·yiṯ זוּלָתִ֥י but zū·lā·ṯî שְׁתַּֽיִם־ the two šə·ta·yim- אֲנַ֖חְנוּ of us ’ă·naḥ·nū בַּבָּֽיִת׃ . . . . bab·bā·yiṯ 1 Kings 3:19 לָ֑יְלָה During the night lā·yə·lāh הַזֹּ֖את this haz·zōṯ הָאִשָּׁ֥ה woman’s hā·’iš·šāh בֶּן־ son ben- וַיָּ֛מָת died way·yā·māṯ אֲשֶׁ֥ר because ’ă·šer שָׁכְבָ֖ה she rolled over šā·ḵə·ḇāh עָלָֽיו׃ on him . ‘ā·lāw 1 Kings 3:20 וַתָּקָם֩ So she got up wat·tā·qām בְּת֨וֹךְ in the middle bə·ṯō·wḵ הַלַּ֜יְלָה of the night hal·lay·lāh וַתִּקַּ֧ח and took wat·tiq·qaḥ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- בְּנִ֣י my son bə·nî מֵֽאֶצְלִ֗י from my side mê·’eṣ·lî וַאֲמָֽתְךָ֙ while wa·’ă·mā·ṯə·ḵā יְשֵׁנָ֔ה I was asleep . yə·šê·nāh וַתַּשְׁכִּיבֵ֖הוּ She laid him wat·taš·kî·ḇê·hū בְּחֵיקָ֑הּ in her bosom bə·ḥê·qāh וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- הִשְׁכִּ֥יבָה and put hiš·kî·ḇāh הַמֵּ֖ת her dead ham·mêṯ בְּנָ֥הּ son bə·nāh בְחֵיקִֽי׃ at my bosom . ḇə·ḥê·qî 1 Kings 3:21 בַּבֹּ֛קֶר The next morning , bab·bō·qer וָאָקֻ֥ם when I got up wā·’ā·qum לְהֵינִ֥יק to nurse lə·hê·nîq אֶת־ - ’eṯ- בְּנִ֖י my son , bə·nî וְהִנֵּה־ I discovered wə·hin·nêh- מֵ֑ת he was dead . mêṯ בַּבֹּ֔קֶר - bab·bō·qer וָאֶתְבּוֹנֵ֤ן But when I examined him wā·’eṯ·bō·w·nên אֵלָיו֙ . . . , ’ê·lāw וְהִנֵּ֛ה I realized wə·hin·nêh הָיָ֥ה that he was hā·yāh לֹֽא־ not lō- בְנִ֖י the son ḇə·nî אֲשֶׁ֥ר - ’ă·šer יָלָֽדְתִּי׃ I had borne . ” yā·lā·ḏə·tî
