1 Kings 3:22 לֹ֣א “ No , ” lō כִ֗י . . . ḵî וַתֹּאמֶר֩ said wat·tō·mer הָאַחֶ֜רֶת the other hā·’a·ḥe·reṯ הָאִשָּׁ֨ה woman , hā·’iš·šāh הַחַי֙ “ the living one [is] ha·ḥay בְּנִ֤י my son bə·nî הַמֵּ֔ת and the dead one [is] ham·mêṯ וּבְנֵ֣ךְ your son . ” ū·ḇə·nêḵ וְזֹ֤את But the first woman wə·zōṯ אֹמֶ֙רֶת֙ insisted , ’ō·me·reṯ לֹ֣א “ No , lō כִ֔י . . . ḵî הַמֵּ֖ת the dead one [is] ham·mêṯ בְּנֵ֥ךְ yours bə·nêḵ הֶחָ֑י and the living one [is] he·ḥāy וּבְנִ֣י mine . ” ū·ḇə·nî וַתְּדַבֵּ֖רְנָה So they argued wat·tə·ḏab·bê·rə·nāh לִפְנֵ֥י before lip̄·nê הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ the king . ham·me·leḵ 1 Kings 3:23 הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ Then the king ham·me·leḵ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר replied , way·yō·mer זֹ֣את “ This zōṯ אֹמֶ֔רֶת woman says , ’ō·me·reṯ זֶה־ ‘ - zeh- בְּנִ֥י My son bə·nî הַחַ֖י is alive ha·ḥay וּבְנֵ֣ךְ and yours ū·ḇə·nêḵ הַמֵּ֑ת is dead , ’ ham·mêṯ וְזֹ֤את but that wə·zōṯ אֹמֶ֙רֶת֙ woman says , ’ō·me·reṯ לֹ֣א ‘ No , lō כִ֔י . . . ḵî בְּנֵ֥ךְ your son bə·nêḵ הַמֵּ֖ת is dead ham·mêṯ וּבְנִ֥י and mine ū·ḇə·nî הֶחָֽי׃פ is alive . ’” he·ḥāy 1 Kings 3:24 הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ The king ham·me·leḵ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר continued , way·yō·mer קְח֣וּ “ Bring qə·ḥū לִי־ me lî- חָ֑רֶב a sword . ” ḥā·reḇ וַיָּבִ֥אוּ So they brought him way·yā·ḇi·’ū הַחֶ֖רֶב a sword ha·ḥe·reḇ לִפְנֵ֥י - lip̄·nê הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ - , ham·me·leḵ 1 Kings 3:25 הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ and the king ham·me·leḵ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר declared , way·yō·mer גִּזְר֛וּ “ Cut giz·rū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַחַ֖י the living ha·ḥay הַיֶּ֥לֶד child hay·ye·leḏ לִשְׁנָ֑יִם in two liš·nā·yim וּתְנ֤וּ and give ū·ṯə·nū אֶֽת־ - ’eṯ- הַחֲצִי֙ half ha·ḥă·ṣî לְאַחַ֔ת to one lə·’a·ḥaṯ וְאֶֽת־ - wə·’eṯ- הַחֲצִ֖י and half ha·ḥă·ṣî לְאֶחָֽת׃ to the other . ” lə·’e·ḥāṯ 1 Kings 3:26 הָאִשָּׁה֩ Then the woman hā·’iš·šāh אֲשֶׁר־ whose ’ă·šer- בְּנָ֨הּ son bə·nāh הַחַ֜י was alive ha·ḥay וַתֹּ֣אמֶר spoke wat·tō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ the king ham·me·leḵ כִּֽי־ because kî- נִכְמְר֣וּ she yearned niḵ·mə·rū רַחֲמֶיהָ֮ with compassion ra·ḥă·me·hā עַל־ for ‘al- בְּנָהּ֒ her son . bə·nāh בִּ֣י “ Please , bî אֲדֹנִ֗י my lord , ” ’ă·ḏō·nî וַתֹּ֣אמֶר׀ she said , wat·tō·mer תְּנוּ־ “ give tə·nū- לָהּ֙ her lāh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַחַ֔י the living ha·ḥay הַיָּל֣וּד baby . hay·yā·lūḏ אַל־ Do not ’al- תְּמִיתֻ֑הוּ kill him tə·mî·ṯu·hū וְהָמֵ֖ת - ! ” wə·hā·mêṯ וְזֹ֣את But the other wə·zōṯ אֹמֶ֗רֶת [woman] said , ’ō·me·reṯ יִהְיֶ֖ה “ He will be yih·yeh לֹ֥א neither lō גַּם־ gam-
