אֶל־ to ’el- עִ֣יר the City ‘îr דָּוִ֔ד of David dā·wiḏ עַ֣ד until ‘aḏ כַּלֹּת֗וֹ he had finished kal·lō·ṯōw לִבְנ֤וֹת building liḇ·nō·wṯ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- בֵּיתוֹ֙ his palace bê·ṯōw וְאֶת־ and wə·’eṯ- בֵּ֣ית the house bêṯ יְהוָ֔ה of YHWH , Yah·weh וְאֶת־ as well as wə·’eṯ- חוֹמַ֥ת the wall ḥō·w·maṯ סָבִֽיב׃ around sā·ḇîḇ יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם Jerusalem . yə·rū·šā·lim 1 Kings 3:2 הָעָ֔ם The people , hā·‘ām רַ֣ק however , raq מְזַבְּחִ֖ים were still sacrificing mə·zab·bə·ḥîm בַּבָּמ֑וֹת on the high places bab·bā·mō·wṯ כִּ֠י because kî בַ֙יִת֙ a house ḇa·yiṯ לְשֵׁ֣ם for the Name lə·šêm יְהוָ֔ה of YHWH Yah·weh לֹא־ had not lō- עַ֖ד yet ‘aḏ הָהֵֽם׃פ . . . hā·hêm הַיָּמִ֥ים . . . hay·yā·mîm נִבְנָ֥ה been built . niḇ·nāh 1 Kings 3:3 שְׁלֹמֹה֙ And Solomon šə·lō·mōh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיֶּאֱהַ֤ב loved way·ye·’ĕ·haḇ יְהוָ֔ה YHWH Yah·weh לָלֶ֕כֶת [and] walked lā·le·ḵeṯ בְּחֻקּ֖וֹת in the statutes bə·ḥuq·qō·wṯ אָבִ֑יו of his father ’ā·ḇîw דָּוִ֣ד David , dā·wiḏ רַ֚ק except that raq ה֥וּא he hū מְזַבֵּ֖חַ sacrificed mə·zab·bê·aḥ וּמַקְטִֽיר׃ and burned incense ū·maq·ṭîr בַּבָּמ֔וֹת on the high places . bab·bā·mō·wṯ 1 Kings 3:4 הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ Now the king ham·me·leḵ וַיֵּ֨לֶךְ went way·yê·leḵ גִּבְעֹ֙נָה֙ to Gibeon giḇ·‘ō·nāh לִזְבֹּ֣חַ to sacrifice liz·bō·aḥ שָׁ֔ם there , šām כִּ֥י for kî הִ֖יא it [was] hî הַגְּדוֹלָ֑ה the great hag·gə·ḏō·w·lāh הַבָּמָ֣ה high place . hab·bā·māh שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה Solomon šə·lō·mōh יַעֲלֶ֣ה offered ya·‘ă·leh אֶ֤לֶף a thousand ’e·lep̄ עֹלוֹת֙ burnt offerings ‘ō·lō·wṯ עַ֖ל on ‘al הַהֽוּא׃ the ha·hū הַמִּזְבֵּ֥חַ altar [there] . ham·miz·bê·aḥ 1 Kings 3:5 הַלָּ֑יְלָה One night hal·lā·yə·lāh בְּגִבְע֗וֹן at Gibeon bə·ḡiḇ·‘ō·wn יְהֹוָ֛ה YHWH Yah·weh נִרְאָ֧ה appeared nir·’āh אֶל־ to ’el- שְׁלֹמֹ֖ה Solomon šə·lō·mōh בַּחֲל֣וֹם in a dream , ba·ḥă·lō·wm אֱלֹהִ֔ים and God ’ĕ·lō·hîm וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said , way·yō·mer שְׁאַ֖ל “ Ask šə·’al מָ֥ה - , māh אֶתֶּן־ [and] I will give it ’et·ten- לָֽךְ׃ to you ! ” lāḵ 1 Kings 3:6 שְׁלֹמֹ֗ה Solomon šə·lō·mōh וַיֹּ֣אמֶר replied , way·yō·mer אַתָּ֨ה “ You ’at·tāh עָשִׂ֜יתָ have shown ‘ā·śî·ṯā גָּדוֹל֒ much gā·ḏō·wl חֶ֣סֶד loving devotion ḥe·seḏ עִם־ to ‘im- עַבְדְּךָ֙ Your servant , ‘aḇ·də·ḵā אָבִי֮ my father ’ā·ḇî דָוִ֣ד David , ḏā·wiḏ כַּאֲשֶׁר֩ because ka·’ă·šer הָלַ֨ךְ he walked hā·laḵ לְפָנֶ֜יךָ before You lə·p̄ā·ne·ḵā בֶּאֱמֶ֧ת in faithfulness , be·’ĕ·meṯ וּבִצְדָקָ֛ה righteousness , ū·ḇiṣ·ḏā·qāh
