יָקִ֨ים may fulfill yā·qîm דְּבָר֗וֹ His promise də·ḇā·rōw אֲשֶׁ֨ר - ’ă·šer דִּבֶּ֣ר - dib·ber עָלַי֮ to me : ‘ā·lay לֵאמֹר֒ . . . lê·mōr אִם־ ‘ If ’im- בָנֶ֜יךָ your descendants ḇā·ne·ḵā אֶת־ - ’eṯ- דַּרְכָּ֗ם - dar·kām יִשְׁמְר֨וּ take heed yiš·mə·rū לָלֶ֤כֶת to walk lā·le·ḵeṯ בֶּאֱמֶ֔ת faithfully be·’ĕ·meṯ לְפָנַי֙ before Me lə·p̄ā·nay בְּכָל־ with all bə·ḵāl לְבָבָ֖ם their heart lə·ḇā·ḇām וּבְכָל־ . . . ū·ḇə·ḵāl נַפְשָׁ֑ם and soul , nap̄·šām לֵאמֹ֕ר . . . lê·mōr לֹֽא־ you will never lō- יִכָּרֵ֤ת fail yik·kā·rêṯ לְךָ֙ - lə·ḵā אִ֔ישׁ to have a man ’îš מֵעַ֖ל on mê·‘al כִּסֵּ֥א the throne kis·sê יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ of Israel . ’ yiś·rā·’êl 1 Kings 2:5 וְגַ֣ם Moreover , wə·ḡam אַתָּ֣ה you ’at·tāh יָדַ֡עְתָּ know yā·ḏa‘·tā אֵת֩ - ’êṯ אֲשֶׁר־ what ’ă·šer- יוֹאָ֣ב Joab yō·w·’āḇ בֶּן־ son ben- צְרוּיָ֗ה of Zeruiah ṣə·rū·yāh עָ֨שָׂה did ‘ā·śāh לִ֜י to me — lî אֲשֶׁ֣ר what ’ă·šer עָשָׂ֣ה he did ‘ā·śāh לְאַבְנֵ֨ר to Abner lə·’aḇ·nêr בֶּן־ son ben- נֵ֜ר of Ner nêr וְלַעֲמָשָׂ֤א and Amasa wə·la·‘ă·mā·śā בֶן־ son ḇen- יֶ֙תֶר֙ of Jether , ye·ṯer לִשְׁנֵֽי־ the two liš·nê- שָׂרֵ֣י commanders śā·rê צִבְא֣וֹת of the armies ṣiḇ·’ō·wṯ יִ֠שְׂרָאֵל of Israel . yiś·rā·’êl וַיַּ֣הַרְגֵ֔ם He killed them way·ya·har·ḡêm בְּשָׁלֹ֑ם in peacetime bə·šā·lōm וַיָּ֥שֶׂם to avenge way·yā·śem דְּמֵֽי־ the blood də·mê- מִלְחָמָ֖ה of war . mil·ḥā·māh וַיִּתֵּ֞ן He stained way·yit·tên דְּמֵ֣י with the blood də·mê מִלְחָמָ֗ה of war mil·ḥā·māh בַּחֲגֹֽרָתוֹ֙ the belt ba·ḥă·ḡō·rā·ṯōw אֲשֶׁ֣ר - ’ă·šer בְּמָתְנָ֔יו around his waist bə·mā·ṯə·nāw וּֽבְנַעֲל֖וֹ and the sandals ū·ḇə·na·‘ă·lōw אֲשֶׁ֥ר - ’ă·šer בְּרַגְלָֽיו׃ on his feet . bə·raḡ·lāw 1 Kings 2:6 וְעָשִׂ֖יתָ So act wə·‘ā·śî·ṯā כְּחָכְמָתֶ֑ךָ according to your wisdom , kə·ḥā·ḵə·mā·ṯe·ḵā וְלֹֽא־ and do not wə·lō- שֵׂיבָת֛וֹ let his gray head śê·ḇā·ṯōw תוֹרֵ֧ד go down ṯō·w·rêḏ שְׁאֹֽל׃ס to Sheol šə·’ōl בְּשָׁלֹ֖ם in peace . bə·šā·lōm 1 Kings 2:7 תַּֽעֲשֶׂה־ But show ta·‘ă·śeh- חֶ֔סֶד loving devotion ḥe·seḏ וְלִבְנֵ֨י to the sons wə·liḇ·nê בַרְזִלַּ֤י of Barzillai ḇar·zil·lay הַגִּלְעָדִי֙ the Gileadite , hag·gil·‘ā·ḏî וְהָי֖וּ and let them be wə·hā·yū בְּאֹכְלֵ֣י among those who eat bə·’ō·ḵə·lê שֻׁלְחָנֶ֑ךָ at your table , šul·ḥā·ne·ḵā כִּי־ because kî- כֵן֙ . . . ḵên קָרְב֣וּ they stood by qā·rə·ḇū אֵלַ֔י me ’ê·lay בְּבָרְחִ֕י when I fled bə·ḇā·rə·ḥî מִפְּנֵ֖י from mip·pə·nê אָחִֽיךָ׃ your brother ’ā·ḥî·ḵā אַבְשָׁל֥וֹם Absalom . ’aḇ·šā·lō·wm 1 Kings 2:8 וְהִנֵּ֣ה Keep an eye on wə·hin·nêh שִֽׁמְעִ֨י Shimei šim·‘î בֶן־ the son ḇen-
