הַטּ֖וֹב what seems good haṭ·ṭō·wḇ בְּעֵינֶ֑יךָ in your sight , bə·‘ê·ne·ḵā אֶֽעֱשֶׂה־ and I will do ’e·‘ĕ·śeh- לָּֽךְ׃ for you lāḵ וְכֹ֛ל whatever wə·ḵōl אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- תִּבְחַ֥ר you desire tiḇ·ḥar עָלַ֖י of me . ” ‘ā·lay 2 Samuel 19:39 כָּל־ So all kāl- הָעָ֛ם the people hā·‘ām אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיַּעֲבֹ֧ר crossed way·ya·‘ă·ḇōr הַיַּרְדֵּ֖ן the Jordan , hay·yar·dên וְהַמֶּ֣לֶךְ and then the king wə·ham·me·leḵ עָבָ֑ר crossed over . ‘ā·ḇār הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ The king ham·me·leḵ וַיִּשַּׁ֨ק kissed way·yiš·šaq לְבַרְזִלַּי֙ Barzillai lə·ḇar·zil·lay וַיְבָ֣רֲכֵ֔הוּ and blessed him , way·ḇā·ră·ḵê·hū וַיָּ֖שָׁב and Barzillai returned way·yā·šāḇ לִמְקֹמֽוֹ׃ס home . lim·qō·mōw 2 Samuel 19:40 הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ Then the king ham·me·leḵ וַיַּעֲבֹ֤ר went on way·ya·‘ă·ḇōr הַגִּלְגָּ֔לָה to Gilgal , hag·gil·gā·lāh וְכִמְהָ֖ן and Chimham wə·ḵim·hān עָבַ֣ר crossed over ‘ā·ḇar עִמּ֑וֹ with him . ‘im·mōw וְכָל־ All wə·ḵāl עַ֤ם the troops ‘am יְהוּדָה֙ of Judah yə·hū·ḏāh וַיַּעֲבִרוּ . . . way·ya·ʿă·ḇi·rū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וְגַ֕ם and wə·ḡam חֲצִ֖י half ḥă·ṣî עַ֥ם the troops ‘am יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ of Israel yiś·rā·’êl הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ escorted the king . ham·me·leḵ 2 Samuel 19:41 וְהִנֵּ֛ה Soon wə·hin·nêh כָּל־ all kāl- אִ֥ישׁ the men ’îš יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel yiś·rā·’êl בָּאִ֣ים came bā·’îm אֶל־ to ’el- הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ the king ham·me·leḵ וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ and asked way·yō·mə·rū אֶל־ . . . ’el- הַמֶּ֡לֶךְ . . . , ham·me·leḵ מַדּוּעַ֩ “ Why mad·dū·a‘ אַחֵ֜ינוּ did our brothers , ’a·ḥê·nū אִ֣ישׁ the men ’îš יְהוּדָ֗ה of Judah , yə·hū·ḏāh גְּנָב֨וּךָ take you away secretly gə·nā·ḇū·ḵā הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ and bring the king ham·me·leḵ וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- בֵּיתוֹ֙ and his household bê·ṯōw אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיַּעֲבִ֨רוּ across way·ya·‘ă·ḇi·rū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן the Jordan , hay·yar·dên עִמּֽוֹ׃ס together with ‘im·mōw וְכָל־ all wə·ḵāl דָוִ֖ד of David’s ḏā·wiḏ אַנְשֵׁ֥י men ? ” ’an·šê 2 Samuel 19:42 כָּל־ And all kāl- אִ֨ישׁ the men ’îš יְהוּדָ֜ה of Judah yə·hū·ḏāh וַיַּעַן֩ replied way·ya·‘an עַל־ to ‘al- אִ֣ישׁ the men ’îš יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל of Israel , yiś·rā·’êl כִּֽי־ “ [We did this] because kî- הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ the king ham·me·leḵ אֵלַ֔י is our ’ê·lay קָר֤וֹב relative . qā·rō·wḇ וְלָ֤מָּה Why wə·lām·māh זֶּה֙ does this zeh חָרָ֣ה anger ḥā·rāh לְךָ֔ you ? lə·ḵā עַל־ . . . ‘al- הַדָּבָ֖ר . . . had·dā·ḇār הַזֶּ֑ה . . . haz·zeh הֶאָכ֤וֹל Have we ever eaten he·’ā·ḵō·wl אָכַ֙לְנוּ֙ . . . ’ā·ḵal·nū מִן־ at min- הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ the king’s [expense] ham·me·leḵ אִם־ or ’im- נִשָּׂ֖א received niś·śā נִשֵּׂ֥את anything niś·śêṯ
