וְה֖וּא and he wə·hū הֹלֵ֣ךְ was walking hō·lêḵ יָחֵ֑ף barefoot . yā·ḥêp̄ וְכָל־ And all wə·ḵāl הָעָ֣ם the people hā·‘ām אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- אִתּ֗וֹ with him ’it·tōw חָפוּ֙ covered ḥā·p̄ū אִ֣ישׁ . . . ’îš רֹאשׁ֔וֹ their heads rō·šōw וְעָל֥וּ and went up , wə·‘ā·lū וּבָכֹֽה׃ weeping ū·ḇā·ḵōh עָלֹ֖ה as they went . ‘ā·lōh 2 Samuel 15:31 הִגִּ֣יד Now someone told hig·gîḏ לֵאמֹ֔ר lê·mōr וְדָוִד֙ David : wə·ḏā·wiḏ אֲחִיתֹ֥פֶל “ Ahithophel [is] ’ă·ḥî·ṯō·p̄el בַּקֹּשְׁרִ֖ים among the conspirators baq·qō·šə·rîm עִם־ with ‘im- אַבְשָׁל֑וֹם Absalom . ” ’aḇ·šā·lō·wm דָּוִ֔ד So David dā·wiḏ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר pleaded , way·yō·mer יְהוָֽה׃ “ O YHWH , Yah·weh נָ֛א please nā אֶת־ - ’eṯ- עֲצַ֥ת turn the counsel ‘ă·ṣaṯ אֲחִיתֹ֖פֶל of Ahithophel ’ă·ḥî·ṯō·p̄el סַכֶּל־ into foolishness ! ” sak·kel- 2 Samuel 15:32 וַיְהִ֤י When way·hî דָוִד֙ David ḏā·wiḏ בָּ֣א came bā עַד־ to ‘aḏ- הָרֹ֔אשׁ the summit , hā·rōš אֲשֶֽׁר־ where ’ă·šer- יִשְׁתַּחֲוֶ֥ה he used to worship yiš·ta·ḥă·weh שָׁ֖ם . . . šām לֵאלֹהִ֑ים God , lê·lō·hîm חוּשַׁ֣י Hushai ḥū·šay הָאַרְכִּ֔י the Archite hā·’ar·kî וְהִנֵּ֤ה was there wə·hin·nêh לִקְרָאתוֹ֙ to meet him liq·rā·ṯōw כֻּתָּנְתּ֔וֹ with his robe kut·tā·nə·tōw קָר֙וּעַ֙ torn qā·rū·a‘ וַאֲדָמָ֖ה and dust wa·’ă·ḏā·māh עַל־ on ‘al- רֹאשֽׁוֹ׃ his head . rō·šōw 2 Samuel 15:33 דָּוִ֑ד David dā·wiḏ וַיֹּ֥אמֶר said way·yō·mer ל֖וֹ to him , lōw אִ֚ם “ If ’im עָבַ֣רְתָּ you go on ‘ā·ḇar·tā אִתִּ֔י with me , ’it·tî וְהָיִ֥תָ you will be wə·hā·yi·ṯā לְמַשָּֽׂא׃ a burden lə·maś·śā עָלַ֖י to me . ‘ā·lay 2 Samuel 15:34 וְהֵפַרְתָּ֣ה But you can thwart wə·hê·p̄ar·tāh אֵ֖ת ’êṯ עֲצַ֥ת the counsel ‘ă·ṣaṯ אֲחִיתֹֽפֶל׃ of Ahithophel ’ă·ḥî·ṯō·p̄el לִ֔י for me lî וְאִם־ if wə·’im- תָּשׁ֗וּב you return tā·šūḇ הָעִ֣יר to the city hā·‘îr וְאָמַרְתָּ֤ and say wə·’ā·mar·tā לְאַבְשָׁלוֹם֙ to Absalom : lə·’aḇ·šā·lō·wm אֲנִ֤י ‘ I ’ă·nî אֶֽהְיֶ֔ה will be ’eh·yeh עַבְדְּךָ֨ your servant , ‘aḇ·də·ḵā הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ my king ; ham·me·leḵ מֵאָ֔ז in the past mê·’āz וַֽאֲנִי֙ I wa·’ă·nî אָבִ֤יךָ was your father’s ’ā·ḇî·ḵā עֶ֣בֶד servant , ‘e·ḇeḏ וְעַתָּ֖ה but now wə·‘at·tāh וַאֲנִ֣י I wa·’ă·nî עַבְדֶּ֑ךָ will be your servant . ’ ‘aḇ·de·ḵā 2 Samuel 15:35 וַהֲל֤וֹא Will not wa·hă·lō·w צָד֥וֹק Zadok ṣā·ḏō·wq וְאֶבְיָתָ֖ר and Abiathar wə·’eḇ·yā·ṯār הַכֹּהֲנִ֑ים the priests hak·kō·hă·nîm וְהָיָ֗ה . . . wə·hā·yāh שָׁ֔ם be there šām עִמְּךָ֙ with you ? ‘im·mə·ḵā תַּגִּ֕יד Report tag·gîḏ לְצָד֥וֹק [to them] lə·ṣā·ḏō·wq
