עַ֥ל ? ‘al שׁ֣וּב Go back šūḇ וְהָשֵׁ֧ב and take wə·hā·šêḇ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אַחֶ֛יךָ your brothers ’a·ḥe·ḵā עִמָּ֖ךְ with you . ‘im·māḵ חֶ֥סֶד [May YHWH show you] loving devotion ḥe·seḏ וֶאֱמֶֽת׃ and faithfulness . ” we·’ĕ·meṯ 2 Samuel 15:21 אִתַּ֛י But Ittai ’it·tay וַיַּ֧עַן answered way·ya·‘an אֶת־ ’eṯ- וַיֹּאמַ֑ר - way·yō·mar הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ the king , ham·me·leḵ יְהוָ֗ה “ As surely as YHWH Yah·weh חַי־ lives , ḥay- אֲדֹנִ֣י and as my lord ’ă·ḏō·nî הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ the king ham·me·leḵ כִּ֠י . . . kî וְחֵי֙ lives , wə·ḥê בִּמְק֞וֹם wherever bim·qō·wm אֲשֶׁ֥ר - ’ă·šer אֲדֹנִ֣י my lord ’ă·ḏō·nî הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ the king ham·me·leḵ יִֽהְיֶה־ may be , yih·yeh- אִם־ - ’im- אִם־ whether ’im- לְחַיִּ֔ים it means life lə·ḥay·yîm כִּי־ . . . kî- שָׁ֖ם . . . šām אִם־ or ’im- לְמָ֙וֶת֙ death , lə·mā·weṯ שָּׁ֣ם׀ there will šām עַבְדֶּֽךָ׃ your servant ‘aḇ·de·ḵā יִהְיֶ֥ה be ! ” yih·yeh 2 Samuel 15:22 וַעֲבֹ֑ר “ March on then , ” wa·‘ă·ḇōr וַיֹּ֧אמֶר said way·yō·mer דָּוִ֛ד David dā·wiḏ אֶל־ to ’el- אִתַּ֖י Ittai . ’it·tay לֵ֣ךְ . . . lêḵ אִתַּ֤י So Ittai ’it·tay הַגִּתִּי֙ the Gittite hag·git·tî וַֽיַּעֲבֹ֞ר marched past way·ya·‘ă·ḇōr וְכָל־ with all wə·ḵāl אֲנָשָׁ֔יו his men ’ă·nā·šāw וְכָל־ and all wə·ḵāl הַטַּ֖ף the little ones haṭ·ṭap̄ אֲשֶׁ֥ר who [were] ’ă·šer אִתּֽוֹ׃ with him . ’it·tōw 2 Samuel 15:23 וְכָל־ Everyone wə·ḵāl הָאָ֗רֶץ in the countryside hā·’ā·reṣ בּוֹכִים֙ was weeping bō·w·ḵîm ק֣וֹל loudly qō·wl גָּד֔וֹל . . . gā·ḏō·wl וְכָל־ as all wə·ḵāl הָעָ֖ם the people hā·‘ām עֹֽבְרִ֑ים passed by . ‘ō·ḇə·rîm וְהַמֶּ֗לֶךְ And as the king wə·ham·me·leḵ עֹבֵר֙ crossed ‘ō·ḇêr קִדְר֔וֹן the Kidron qiḏ·rō·wn בְּנַ֣חַל Valley , bə·na·ḥal וְכָל־ all wə·ḵāl הָעָם֙ the people hā·‘ām עֹבְרִ֔ים also passed ‘ō·ḇə·rîm עַל־ toward ‘al- פְּנֵי־ pə·nê- דֶ֖רֶךְ the way ḏe·reḵ אֶת־ of ’eṯ- הַמִּדְבָּֽר׃ the wilderness . ham·miḏ·bār 2 Samuel 15:24 צָד֜וֹק Zadok ṣā·ḏō·wq גַם־ was also ḡam- וְהִנֵּ֨ה there , wə·hin·nêh וְכָֽל־ and all wə·ḵāl הַלְוִיִּ֣ם the Levites hal·wî·yim אִתּ֗וֹ with him ’it·tōw נֹֽשְׂאִים֙ were carrying nō·śə·’îm אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אֲרוֹן֙ the ark ’ă·rō·wn בְּרִ֣ית of the covenant bə·rîṯ הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים of God . hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm וַיַּצִּ֙קוּ֙ And they set down way·yaṣ·ṣi·qū אֲר֣וֹן the ark ’ă·rō·wn הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים of God hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm אֶת־ - , ’eṯ- אֶבְיָתָ֑ר and Abiathar ’eḇ·yā·ṯār וַיַּ֖עַל offered sacrifices way·ya·‘al עַד־ until ‘aḏ- הָעָ֖ם the people hā·‘ām
