הַזֹּֽאת׃ this haz·zōṯ הַנְּבָלָ֥ה disgraceful thing ! han·nə·ḇā·lāh 2 Samuel 13:13 אָ֤נָה Where ’ā·nāh וַאֲנִ֗י could I wa·’ă·nî אוֹלִיךְ֙ ever take ’ō·w·lîḵ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- חֶרְפָּתִ֔י my shame ? ḥer·pā·ṯî וְאַתָּ֗ה And you wə·’at·tāh תִּהְיֶ֛ה would be tih·yeh כְּאַחַ֥ד like one kə·’a·ḥaḏ הַנְּבָלִ֖ים of the fools han·nə·ḇā·lîm בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל in Israel ! bə·yiś·rā·’êl וְעַתָּה֙ . . . wə·‘at·tāh נָ֣א Please nā דַּבֶּר־ speak dab·ber- אֶל־ to ’el- הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ the king , ham·me·leḵ כִּ֛י for kî לֹ֥א he will not lō יִמְנָעֵ֖נִי withhold me yim·nā·‘ê·nî מִמֶּֽךָּ׃ from you . ” mim·me·kā 2 Samuel 13:14 וְלֹ֥א But [Amnon] refused wə·lō אָבָ֖ה . . . ’ā·ḇāh לִשְׁמֹ֣עַ to listen to her liš·mō·a‘ בְּקוֹלָ֑הּ . . . , bə·qō·w·lāh וַיֶּחֱזַ֤ק and being stronger way·ye·ḥĕ·zaq מִמֶּ֙נָּה֙ . . . , mim·men·nāh וַיְעַנֶּ֔הָ he violated her way·‘an·ne·hā וַיִּשְׁכַּ֖ב and lay with way·yiš·kaḇ אֹתָֽהּ׃ her . ’ō·ṯāh 2 Samuel 13:15 אַמְנ֗וֹן Then Amnon ’am·nō·wn וַיִּשְׂנָאֶ֣הָ hated [Tamar] way·yiś·nā·’e·hā גְּדוֹלָ֣ה with such intensity gə·ḏō·w·lāh מְאֹ֔ד . . . mə·’ōḏ כִּ֣י that kî שִׂנְאָה֙ his hatred śin·’āh שְׂנֵאָ֔הּ . . . śə·nê·’āh גְדוֹלָ֗ה was greater than ḡə·ḏō·w·lāh הַשִּׂנְאָה֙ . . . haś·śin·’āh אֲשֶׁ֣ר - ’ă·šer מֵאַהֲבָ֖ה the love mê·’a·hă·ḇāh אֲשֶׁ֣ר - ’ă·šer אֲהֵבָ֑הּ he previously had . ’ă·hê·ḇāh ק֥וּמִי “ Get up ! ” qū·mî וַֽיֹּאמֶר־ he said way·yō·mer- לָ֥הּ to her lāh אַמְנ֖וֹן . ’am·nō·wn לֵֽכִי׃ “ Be gone ! ” lê·ḵî 2 Samuel 13:16 אַל־ “ No , ” ’al- אוֹדֹ֞ת . . . ’ō·w·ḏōṯ וַתֹּ֣אמֶר she replied wat·tō·mer ל֗וֹ , lōw לְשַׁלְּחֵ֑נִי “ sending me away lə·šal·lə·ḥê·nî מֵאַחֶ֛רֶת [is worse] than mê·’a·ḥe·reṯ הַזֹּ֔את this haz·zōṯ הַגְּדוֹלָה֙ great hag·gə·ḏō·w·lāh הָרָעָ֤ה wrong hā·rā·‘āh אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- עָשִׂ֥יתָ you have already done ‘ā·śî·ṯā עִמִּ֖י to me ! ” ‘im·mî וְלֹ֥א But he refused wə·lō אָבָ֖ה . . . ’ā·ḇāh לִשְׁמֹ֥עַֽ to listen liš·mō·a‘ לָֽהּ׃ to her . lāh 2 Samuel 13:17 וַיִּקְרָ֗א Instead, he called way·yiq·rā אֶֽת־ - ’eṯ- נַעֲרוֹ֙ to his attendant na·‘ă·rōw מְשָׁ֣רְת֔וֹ . . . mə·šā·rə·ṯōw וַיֹּ֕אמֶר and said , way·yō·mer שִׁלְחוּ־ “ Throw šil·ḥū- נָ֥א . . . nā אֶת־ - ’eṯ- זֹ֛את this [woman] zōṯ מֵעָלַ֖י . . . mê·‘ā·lay הַח֑וּצָה out ha·ḥū·ṣāh וּנְעֹ֥ל and bolt ū·nə·‘ōl הַדֶּ֖לֶת the door had·de·leṯ אַחֲרֶֽיהָ׃ behind her ! ” ’a·ḥă·re·hā 2 Samuel 13:18 מְשָֽׁרְתוֹ֙ So Amnon’s attendant mə·šā·rə·ṯōw וַיֹּצֵ֨א threw way·yō·ṣê אוֹתָ֤הּ her ’ō·w·ṯāh הַח֔וּץ out ha·ḥūṣ
