אֶל־ to ’el- נָתָ֔ן Nathan , nā·ṯān חָטָ֖אתִי “ I have sinned ḥā·ṭā·ṯî לַֽיהוָ֑הס against YHWH . ” lay·h·wå̄·hs יְהוָ֛ה “ YHWH Yah·weh הֶעֱבִ֥יר has taken away he·‘ĕ·ḇîr חַטָּאתְךָ֖ your sin , ” ḥaṭ·ṭā·ṯə·ḵā נָתָ֜ן Nathan nā·ṯān וַיֹּ֨אמֶר replied way·yō·mer אֶל־ - ’el- דָּוִ֗ד - . dā·wiḏ גַּם־ - gam- לֹ֥א “ You will not lō תָמֽוּת׃ die . ṯā·mūṯ 2 Samuel 12:14 אֶ֗פֶס Nevertheless , ’e·p̄es כִּֽי־ because kî- הַזֶּ֑ה by haz·zeh גַּ֗ם - gam בַּדָּבָ֖ר this deed bad·dā·ḇār נִאַ֙צְתָּ֙ you have shown ni·’aṣ·tā נִאֵ֤ץ utter contempt ni·’êṣ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אֹיְבֵ֣י for [the word] ’ō·yə·ḇê יְהוָ֔ה of YHWH , Yah·weh הַבֵּ֛ן the son hab·bên הַיִּלּ֥וֹד born hay·yil·lō·wḏ לְךָ֖ to you lə·ḵā מ֥וֹת will surely mō·wṯ יָמֽוּת׃ die . ” yā·mūṯ 2 Samuel 12:15 נָתָ֖ן After Nathan nā·ṯān אֶל־ . . . ’el- וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ had gone way·yê·leḵ בֵּית֑וֹ home , bê·ṯōw יְהוָ֗ה YHWH Yah·weh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיִּגֹּ֣ף struck way·yig·gōp̄ הַיֶּ֜לֶד the child hay·ye·leḏ אֲשֶׁ֨ר that ’ă·šer אוּרִיָּ֛ה Uriah’s ’ū·rî·yāh אֵֽשֶׁת־ wife ’ê·šeṯ- יָלְדָ֧ה had borne yā·lə·ḏāh לְדָוִ֖ד to David , lə·ḏā·wiḏ וַיֵּאָנַֽשׁ׃ and he became ill . way·yê·’ā·naš 2 Samuel 12:16 דָּוִ֛ד David dā·wiḏ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיְבַקֵּ֥שׁ pleaded way·ḇaq·qêš הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים with God hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm בְּעַ֣ד for bə·‘aḏ הַנָּ֑עַר the boy . han·nā·‘ar דָּוִד֙ He dā·wiḏ וַיָּ֤צָם fasted way·yā·ṣām צ֔וֹם . . . ṣō·wm וּבָ֥א and went into his house ū·ḇā וְלָ֖ן and spent the night wə·lān וְשָׁכַ֥ב lying [in sackcloth] wə·šā·ḵaḇ אָֽרְצָה׃ on the ground . ’ā·rə·ṣāh 2 Samuel 12:17 זִקְנֵ֤י The elders ziq·nê בֵיתוֹ֙ of his household ḇê·ṯōw וַיָּקֻ֜מוּ stood way·yā·qu·mū עָלָ֔יו beside him ‘ā·lāw לַהֲקִימ֖וֹ to help him up la·hă·qî·mōw מִן־ from min- הָאָ֑רֶץ the ground , hā·’ā·reṣ וְלֹ֣א but he was unwilling wə·lō אָבָ֔ה . . . ’ā·ḇāh וְלֹֽא־ and would not wə·lō- בָרָ֥א eat ḇā·rā אִתָּ֖ם anything with them ’it·tām לָֽחֶם׃ . . . . lā·ḥem 2 Samuel 12:18 וַיְהִ֛י way·hî הַשְּׁבִיעִ֖י On the seventh haš·šə·ḇî·‘î בַּיּ֥וֹם day bay·yō·wm הַיָּ֑לֶד the child hay·yā·leḏ וַיָּ֣מָת died . way·yā·māṯ דָוִ֜ד But David’s ḏā·wiḏ עַבְדֵ֨י servants ‘aḇ·ḏê וַיִּֽרְאוּ֩ were afraid way·yir·’ū לְהַגִּ֥יד to tell lə·hag·gîḏ ל֣וֹ׀ him lōw כִּי־ that kî- הַיֶּ֗לֶד the child hay·ye·leḏ מֵ֣ת was dead , mêṯ כִּ֤י for kî אָֽמְרוּ֙ they said , ’ā·mə·rū הִנֵּה֩ “ Look , hin·nêh
