1 Samuel 31:6 שָׁא֡וּל So Saul , šā·’ūl וּשְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת his three ū·šə·lō·šeṯ בָּנָיו֩ sons , bā·nāw וְנֹשֵׂ֨א his armor-bearer wə·nō·śê כֵלָ֜יו . . . , ḵê·lāw גַּ֧ם and gam כָּל־ all kāl- אֲנָשָׁ֛יו his men ’ă·nā·šāw וַיָּ֣מָת died way·yā·māṯ יַחְדָּֽו׃ together yaḥ·dāw הַה֖וּא that same ha·hū בַּיּ֥וֹם day . bay·yō·wm 1 Samuel 31:7 אַנְשֵֽׁי־ When the Israelites ’an·šê- יִ֠שְׂרָאֵל . . . yiś·rā·’êl אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- בְּעֵ֨בֶר along bə·‘ê·ḇer הָעֵ֜מֶק the valley hā·‘ê·meq וַאֲשֶׁ֣ר׀ - wa·’ă·šer בְּעֵ֣בֶר and those on the other side bə·‘ê·ḇer הַיַּרְדֵּ֗ן of the Jordan hay·yar·dên וַיִּרְא֣וּ saw way·yir·’ū כִּֽי־ that kî- אַנְשֵׁ֣י the army ’an·šê יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of Israel yiś·rā·’êl נָ֙סוּ֙ had fled nā·sū וְכִי־ and that wə·ḵî- שָׁא֣וּל Saul šā·’ūl וּבָנָ֑יו and his sons ū·ḇā·nāw מֵ֖תוּ had died , mê·ṯū וַיַּעַזְב֤וּ they abandoned way·ya·‘az·ḇū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הֶֽעָרִים֙ their cities he·‘ā·rîm וַיָּנֻ֔סוּ and ran away . way·yā·nu·sū פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים So the Philistines p̄ə·liš·tîm וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ came way·yā·ḇō·’ū וַיֵּֽשְׁב֖וּ and occupied way·yê·šə·ḇū בָּהֶֽן׃ס [their cities] . bā·hen 1 Samuel 31:8 וַֽיְהִי֙ - way·hî מִֽמָּחֳרָ֔ת The next day , mim·mā·ḥo·rāṯ פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים when the Philistines p̄ə·liš·tîm וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ came way·yā·ḇō·’ū לְפַשֵּׁ֖ט to strip lə·p̄aš·šêṭ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַחֲלָלִ֑ים the dead , ha·ḥă·lā·lîm וַֽיִּמְצְא֤וּ they found way·yim·ṣə·’ū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- שָׁאוּל֙ Saul šā·’ūl וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- שְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת and his three šə·lō·šeṯ בָּנָ֔יו sons bā·nāw נֹפְלִ֖ים fallen nō·p̄ə·lîm בְּהַ֥ר on Mount bə·har הַגִּלְבֹּֽעַ׃ Gilboa . hag·gil·bō·a‘ 1 Samuel 31:9 וַֽיִּכְרְתוּ֙ They cut off way·yiḵ·rə·ṯū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- רֹאשׁ֔וֹ Saul’s head , rō·šōw וַיַּפְשִׁ֖יטוּ stripped off way·yap̄·šî·ṭū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- כֵּלָ֑יו his armor , kê·lāw וַיְשַׁלְּח֨וּ and sent way·šal·lə·ḥū בְאֶֽרֶץ־ messengers throughout the land ḇə·’e·reṣ- פְּלִשְׁתִּ֜ים of the Philistines pə·liš·tîm סָבִ֗יב . . . sā·ḇîḇ לְבַשֵּׂ֛ר to proclaim the news lə·ḇaś·śêr בֵּ֥ית in the temples bêṯ עֲצַבֵּיהֶ֖ם of their idols ‘ă·ṣab·bê·hem וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- הָעָֽם׃ and among their people . hā·‘ām 1 Samuel 31:10 וַיָּשִׂ֙מוּ֙ They put way·yā·śi·mū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- כֵּלָ֔יו his armor kê·lāw בֵּ֖ית in the temple bêṯ עַשְׁתָּר֑וֹת of the Ashtoreths ‘aš·tā·rō·wṯ וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- תָּקְע֔וּ and hung tā·qə·‘ū גְּוִיָּתוֹ֙ his body gə·wî·yā·ṯōw בְּחוֹמַ֖ת on the wall bə·ḥō·w·maṯ בֵּ֥ית vvv bêṯ שָֽׁן׃ of Beth-shan . šān 1 Samuel 31:11 יֹשְׁבֵ֖י When the people yō·šə·ḇê יָבֵ֣ישׁ of Jabesh-gilead yā·ḇêš גִּלְעָ֑ד . . . gil·‘āḏ
