בָרַ֥ח had fled ḇā·raḥ גַּ֑ת to Gath , gaṯ וְלֹֽא־ he no wə·lō- יוֹסַף longer yō·sap̄ ע֖וֹד . . . ‘ō·wḏ לְבַקְשֽׁוֹ׃ס searched for him . lə·ḇaq·šōw 1 Samuel 27:5 דָּוִ֜ד Then David dā·wiḏ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר said way·yō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- אָכִ֗ישׁ Achish , ’ā·ḵîš אִם־ “ If ’im- נָא֩ . . . nā מָצָ֨אתִי I have found mā·ṣā·ṯî חֵ֤ן favor ḥên בְּעֵינֶ֙יךָ֙ in your eyes , bə·‘ê·ne·ḵā יִתְּנוּ־ let me be assigned yit·tə·nū- לִ֣י . . . lî מָק֗וֹם a place mā·qō·wm בְּאַחַ֛ת in one bə·’a·ḥaṯ הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה of the outlying haś·śā·ḏeh עָרֵ֥י towns , ‘ā·rê וְאֵ֣שְׁבָה so I can live wə·’ê·šə·ḇāh שָּׁ֑ם there . šām וְלָ֨מָּה For why wə·lām·māh עַבְדְּךָ֛ should your servant ‘aḇ·də·ḵā יֵשֵׁ֧ב live yê·šêḇ הַמַּמְלָכָ֖ה in the royal ham·mam·lā·ḵāh בְּעִ֥יר city bə·‘îr עִמָּֽךְ׃ with you ?” ‘im·māḵ 1 Samuel 27:6 הַה֖וּא That ha·hū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- בַּיּ֥וֹם day bay·yō·wm אָכִ֛ישׁ Achish ’ā·ḵîš וַיִּתֶּן־ gave way·yit·ten- ל֥וֹ him lōw צִֽקְלָ֑ג Ziklag , ṣiq·lāḡ לָכֵ֞ן and lā·ḵên עַ֖ד to ‘aḏ הַזֶּֽה׃פ this haz·zeh הַיּ֥וֹם day hay·yō·wm צִֽקְלַג֙ [it] ṣiq·laḡ הָיְתָ֤ה still belongs to hā·yə·ṯāh לְמַלְכֵ֣י the kings lə·mal·ḵê יְהוּדָ֔ה of Judah . yə·hū·ḏāh 1 Samuel 27:7 הַיָּמִ֔ים And the time hay·yā·mîm אֲשֶׁר־ that ’ă·šer- דָּוִ֖ד David dā·wiḏ יָשַׁ֥ב lived yā·šaḇ פְלִשְׁתִּ֑ים in Philistine p̄ə·liš·tîm בִּשְׂדֵ֣ה territory biś·ḏêh וַֽיְהִי֙ amounted to way·hî מִסְפַּ֣ר . . . mis·par יָמִ֖ים a year yā·mîm וְאַרְבָּעָ֥ה and four wə·’ar·bā·‘āh חֳדָשִֽׁים׃ months . ḥo·ḏā·šîm 1 Samuel 27:8 דָּוִד֙ Now David dā·wiḏ וַֽאֲנָשָׁ֔יו and his men wa·’ă·nā·šāw וַיַּ֤עַל went up way·ya·‘al וַֽיִּפְשְׁט֛וּ and raided way·yip̄·šə·ṭū אֶל־ . . . ’el- הַגְּשׁוּרִ֥י the Geshurites , hag·gə·šū·rî וְהַגִּרְזִי the Girzites , wə·hag·gir·zī וְהָעֲמָלֵקִ֑י and the Amalekites . wə·hā·‘ă·mā·lê·qî כִּ֣י ( From kî מֵֽעוֹלָ֔ם ancient times mê·‘ō·w·lām בּוֹאֲךָ֥ . . . bō·w·’ă·ḵā הֵ֜נָּה these people hên·nāh יֹשְׁב֤וֹת had inhabited yō·šə·ḇō·wṯ הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ the land hā·’ā·reṣ אֲשֶׁ֣ר - ’ă·šer שׁ֖וּרָה extending to Shur šū·rāh וְעַד־ and wə·‘aḏ- אֶ֥רֶץ - ’e·reṣ מִצְרָֽיִם׃ Egypt . ) miṣ·rā·yim 1 Samuel 27:9 דָוִד֙ Whenever David ḏā·wiḏ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וְהִכָּ֤ה attacked wə·hik·kāh הָאָ֔רֶץ a territory , hā·’ā·reṣ וְלֹ֥א he did not wə·lō יְחַיֶּ֖ה leave yə·ḥay·yeh אִ֣ישׁ a man ’îš וְאִשָּׁ֑ה or woman {alive} , wə·’iš·šāh וְלָקַח֩ but he took wə·lā·qaḥ צֹ֨אן the flocks ṣōn וּבָקָ֜ר and herds , ū·ḇā·qār
