וַיֵּ֙רֶד֙ went down way·yê·reḏ אֶל־ to ’el- מִדְבַּר־ the Wilderness miḏ·bar- זִ֔יף of Ziph zîp̄ לְבַקֵּ֥שׁ to search for lə·ḇaq·qêš אֶת־ - ’eṯ- דָּוִ֖ד David dā·wiḏ בְּמִדְבַּר־ there bə·miḏ·bar- זִֽיף׃ . . . . zîp̄ 1 Samuel 26:3 שָׁא֜וּל Saul šā·’ūl וַיִּ֨חַן camped way·yi·ḥan עַל־ beside ‘al- הַדָּ֑רֶךְ the road had·dā·reḵ בְּגִבְעַ֣ת at the hill bə·ḡiḇ·‘aṯ הַחֲכִילָ֗ה of Hachilah ha·ḥă·ḵî·lāh אֲשֶׁ֛ר - ’ă·šer עַל־ opposite ‘al- פְּנֵ֥י . . . pə·nê הַיְשִׁימֹ֖ן Jeshimon , hay·šî·mōn וְדָוִד֙ but David wə·ḏā·wiḏ יֹשֵׁ֣ב was living yō·šêḇ בַּמִּדְבָּ֔ר in the wilderness . bam·miḏ·bār וַיַּ֕רְא When he realized way·yar כִּ֣י that kî שָׁא֛וּל Saul šā·’ūl בָ֥א had followed ḇā אַחֲרָ֖יו him ’a·ḥă·rāw הַמִּדְבָּֽרָה׃ there , ham·miḏ·bā·rāh 1 Samuel 26:4 דָּוִ֖ד David dā·wiḏ וַיִּשְׁלַ֥ח sent out way·yiš·laḥ מְרַגְּלִ֑ים spies mə·rag·gə·lîm וַיֵּ֕דַע to verify way·yê·ḏa‘ אֶל־ . . . ’el- נָכֽוֹן׃ . . . nā·ḵō·wn כִּֽי־ that kî- שָׁא֖וּל Saul šā·’ūl בָ֥א had arrived . ḇā 1 Samuel 26:5 דָּוִ֗ד Then David dā·wiḏ וַיָּ֣קָם set out way·yā·qām וַיָּבֹא֮ and went way·yā·ḇō אֶֽל־ to ’el- הַמָּקוֹם֮ the place ham·mā·qō·wm אֲשֶׁ֣ר where ’ă·šer שָׁאוּל֒ Saul šā·’ūl חָנָה־ had camped . ḥā·nāh- שָׁ֣ם . . . šām דָּוִ֗ד He dā·wiḏ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיַּ֣רְא saw way·yar הַמָּקוֹם֙ the place ham·mā·qō·wm אֲשֶׁ֣ר where ’ă·šer שָׁא֔וּל Saul šā·’ūl וְאַבְנֵ֥ר and Abner wə·’aḇ·nêr בֶּן־ son ben- נֵ֖ר of Ner , nêr שַׂר־ the general śar- צְבָא֑וֹ of his army , ṣə·ḇā·’ōw שָֽׁכַב־ had lain down šā·ḵaḇ- שָׁ֣ם . . . . šām וְשָׁאוּל֙ Saul wə·šā·’ūl שֹׁכֵ֣ב was lying šō·ḵêḇ בַּמַּעְגָּ֔ל inside the inner circle of the camp , bam·ma‘·gāl וְהָעָ֖ם with the troops wə·hā·‘ām חֹנִ֥ים camped ḥō·nîm סְבִיבֹתוֹ׃ around him . sə·ḇī·ḇō·ṯō 1 Samuel 26:6 דָּוִ֜ד And David dā·wiḏ וַיַּ֨עַן asked way·ya·‘an וַיֹּ֣אמֶר׀ way·yō·mer אֶל־ ’el- אֲחִימֶ֣לֶךְ Ahimelech ’ă·ḥî·me·leḵ הַחִתִּ֗י the Hittite ha·ḥit·tî וְאֶל־ and wə·’el- אֲבִישַׁ֨י Abishai ’ă·ḇî·šay בֶּן־ son ben- צְרוּיָ֜ה of Zeruiah , ṣə·rū·yāh יוֹאָב֙ Joab’s yō·w·’āḇ אֲחִ֤י brother , ’ă·ḥî לֵאמֹ֔ר . . . lê·mōr מִֽי־ “ Who mî- יֵרֵ֥ד will go down yê·rêḏ אִתִּ֛י with me ’it·tî אֶל־ to ’el- שָׁא֖וּל Saul šā·’ūl אֶל־ in ’el- הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֑ה the camp ?” ham·ma·ḥă·neh אֲנִ֖י “ I will ’ă·nî אֵרֵ֥ד go ’ê·rêḏ עִמָּֽךְ׃ with you , ” ‘im·māḵ
