אֲשֶׁ֣ר - ’ă·šer אֵדַ֔ע I learn ’ê·ḏa‘ מַה־ what mah- אֱלֹהִֽים׃ God ’ĕ·lō·hîm יַּֽעֲשֶׂה־ will do ya·‘ă·śeh- לִּ֖י for me .” lî 1 Samuel 22:4 וַיַּנְחֵ֕ם So he left them way·yan·ḥêm אֶת־ in ’eṯ- פְּנֵ֖י the care pə·nê מֶ֣לֶךְ of the king me·leḵ מוֹאָ֑ב of Moab , mō·w·’āḇ וַיֵּשְׁב֣וּ and they stayed way·yê·šə·ḇū עִמּ֔וֹ with him ‘im·mōw כָּל־ the whole kāl- יְמֵ֥י time yə·mê דָּוִ֖ד David dā·wiḏ הֱיוֹת־ was hĕ·yō·wṯ- בַּמְּצוּדָֽה׃ס in the stronghold . bam·mə·ṣū·ḏāh 1 Samuel 22:5 הַנָּבִ֜יא Then the prophet han·nā·ḇî גָּ֨ד Gad gāḏ וַיֹּאמֶר֩ said way·yō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- דָּוִ֗ד David , dā·wiḏ לֹ֤א “ Do not lō תֵשֵׁב֙ stay ṯê·šêḇ בַּמְּצוּדָ֔ה in the stronghold . bam·mə·ṣū·ḏāh לֵ֥ךְ Depart lêḵ וּבָֽאתָ־ and go ū·ḇā·ṯā- לְּךָ֖ into lə·ḵā אֶ֣רֶץ the land ’e·reṣ יְהוּדָ֑ה of Judah . ” yə·hū·ḏāh דָּוִ֔ד So David dā·wiḏ וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ left way·yê·leḵ וַיָּבֹ֖א and went way·yā·ḇō יַ֥עַר to the forest ya·‘ar חָֽרֶת׃ס of Hereth . ḥā·reṯ 1 Samuel 22:6 שָׁא֔וּל Soon Saul šā·’ūl וַיִּשְׁמַ֣ע learned way·yiš·ma‘ כִּ֚י that kî דָּוִ֔ד David dā·wiḏ וַאֲנָשִׁ֖ים . . . wa·’ă·nā·šîm אֲשֶׁ֣ר and his men ’ă·šer אִתּ֑וֹ . . . ’it·tōw נוֹדַ֣ע had been discovered . nō·w·ḏa‘ וְשָׁאוּל֩ At that time Saul wə·šā·’ūl בַּגִּבְעָ֜ה was in Gibeah , bag·giḇ·‘āh יוֹשֵׁ֨ב sitting yō·wō·šêḇ תַּֽחַת־ under ta·ḥaṯ- הָאֶ֤שֶׁל the tamarisk tree hā·’e·šel בָּֽרָמָה֙ on the hill at Gibeah , bā·rā·māh וַחֲנִית֣וֹ with his spear wa·ḥă·nî·ṯōw בְיָד֔וֹ in hand ḇə·yā·ḏōw וְכָל־ and all wə·ḵāl עֲבָדָ֖יו his servants ‘ă·ḇā·ḏāw נִצָּבִ֥ים standing niṣ·ṣā·ḇîm עָלָֽיו׃ around him . ‘ā·lāw 1 Samuel 22:7 שָׁא֗וּל Then Saul šā·’ūl וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said way·yō·mer לַֽעֲבָדָיו֙ to his servants , la·‘ă·ḇā·ḏāw הַנִּצָּבִ֣ים . . . han·niṣ·ṣā·ḇîm עָלָ֔יו . . . ‘ā·lāw שִׁמְעוּ־ “ Listen , šim·‘ū- נָ֖א . . . nā בְּנֵ֣י men bə·nê יְמִינִ֑י of Benjamin ! yə·mî·nî גַּם־ . . . gam- בֶּן־ Is the son ben- יִשַׁי֙ of Jesse yi·šay יִתֵּ֤ן giving yit·tên לְכֻלְּכֶ֗ם all lə·ḵul·lə·ḵem שָׂד֣וֹת of you fields śā·ḏō·wṯ וּכְרָמִ֔ים and vineyards ū·ḵə·rā·mîm יָשִׂ֔ים [and] making yā·śîm לְכֻלְּכֶ֣ם you lə·ḵul·lə·ḵem שָׂרֵ֥י commanders śā·rê אֲלָפִ֖ים of thousands ’ă·lā·p̄îm וְשָׂרֵ֥י [or] wə·śā·rê מֵאֽוֹת׃ hundreds ? mê·’ō·wṯ 1 Samuel 22:8 כִּי֩ Is that kî כֻּלְּכֶ֜ם why all kul·lə·ḵem קְשַׁרְתֶּ֨ם of you have conspired qə·šar·tem עָלַ֗י against me ? ‘ā·lay וְאֵין־ Not one [of you] wə·’ên- גֹּלֶ֤ה told gō·leh אֶת־ me ’eṯ-
