כִּֽי־ because kî- הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ the king’s ham·me·leḵ דְבַר־ business ḏə·ḇar- הָיָ֥ה was hā·yāh נָחֽוּץ׃ס urgent . ” nā·ḥūṣ 1 Samuel 21:9 הַכֹּהֵ֗ן The priest hak·kō·hên וַיֹּ֣אמֶר replied , way·yō·mer חֶרֶב֩ “ The sword ḥe·reḇ גָּלְיָ֨ת of Goliath gā·lə·yāṯ הַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֜י the Philistine , hap·pə·liš·tî אֲשֶׁר־ whom ’ă·šer- הִכִּ֣יתָ׀ you killed hik·kî·ṯā בְּעֵ֣מֶק in the Valley bə·‘ê·meq הָאֵלָ֗ה of Elah , hā·’ê·lāh הִנֵּה־ is here ; hin·nêh- הִ֞יא it [is] hî לוּטָ֣ה wrapped lū·ṭāh בַשִּׂמְלָה֮ in a cloth ḇaś·śim·lāh אַחֲרֵ֣י behind ’a·ḥă·rê הָאֵפוֹד֒ the ephod . hā·’ê·p̄ō·wḏ אִם־ If ’im- אֹתָ֤הּ you want , ’ō·ṯāh תִּֽקַּח־ you may take it tiq·qaḥ- לְךָ֙ . . . lə·ḵā קָ֔ח . . . . qāḥ כִּ֣י For kî אֵ֥ין [there is] no ’ên אַחֶ֛רֶת other ’a·ḥe·reṯ זוּלָתָ֖הּ but this one zū·lā·ṯāh בָּזֶ֑ה . . . . ” bā·zeh דָּוִ֛ד And David dā·wiḏ וַיֹּ֧אמֶר said , way·yō·mer אֵ֥ין “ [There is] none ’ên כָּמ֖וֹהָ like it ; kā·mō·w·hā תְּנֶ֥נָּה give it tə·nen·nāh לִּֽי׃ to me . ” lî 1 Samuel 21:10 הַה֖וּא That ha·hū בַּיּוֹם־ day bay·yō·wm- דָּוִ֔ד David dā·wiḏ וַיָּ֣קָם vvv way·yā·qām וַיִּבְרַ֥ח fled way·yiḇ·raḥ מִפְּנֵ֣י from mip·pə·nê שָׁא֑וּל Saul šā·’ūl וַיָּבֹ֕א and went way·yā·ḇō אֶל־ to ’el- אָכִ֖ישׁ Achish ’ā·ḵîš מֶ֥לֶךְ king of me·leḵ גַּֽת׃ Gath . gaṯ 1 Samuel 21:11 עַבְדֵ֤י But the servants ‘aḇ·ḏê אָכִישׁ֙ of Achish ’ā·ḵîš וַיֹּ֨אמְר֜וּ said way·yō·mə·rū אֵלָ֔יו to him , ’ê·lāw זֶ֥ה “ [Is] this zeh הֲלוֹא־ not hă·lō·w- דָוִ֖ד David , ḏā·wiḏ מֶ֣לֶךְ the king me·leḵ הָאָ֑רֶץ of the land ? hā·’ā·reṣ הֲל֣וֹא Did they not hă·lō·w יַעֲנ֤וּ sing ya·‘ă·nū לָזֶ֗ה about him lā·zeh בַמְּחֹלוֹת֙ in their dances , ḇam·mə·ḥō·lō·wṯ לֵאמֹ֔ר saying : lê·mōr שָׁאוּל֙ ‘ Saul šā·’ūl הִכָּ֤ה has slain hik·kāh בְּאַלְפּוֹ [his] thousands , bə·ʾal·pō וְדָוִ֖ד and David wə·ḏā·wiḏ בְּרִבְבֹתוֹ׃ [his] tens of thousands ’ ?” bə·ri·ḇə·ḇō·ṯō 1 Samuel 21:12 דָּוִ֛ד Now David dā·wiḏ וַיָּ֧שֶׂם took way·yā·śem אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָאֵ֖לֶּה these hā·’êl·leh הַדְּבָרִ֥ים words had·də·ḇā·rîm בִּלְבָב֑וֹ to heart bil·ḇā·ḇōw מְאֹ֔ד and was very much mə·’ōḏ וַיִּרָ֣א afraid way·yi·rā מִפְּנֵ֖י of mip·pə·nê אָכִ֥ישׁ Achish ’ā·ḵîš מֶֽלֶךְ־ the king me·leḵ- גַּֽת׃ of Gath . gaṯ 1 Samuel 21:13 וַיְשַׁנּ֤וֹ So he changed way·šan·nōw אֶת־ - ’eṯ- טַעְמוֹ֙ his behavior ṭa‘·mōw בְּעֵ֣ינֵיהֶ֔ם before them bə·‘ê·nê·hem וַיִּתְהֹלֵ֖ל and feigned madness way·yiṯ·hō·lêl בְּיָדָ֑ם in their hands ; bə·yā·ḏām
