לְךָ֥ to you . lə·ḵā 1 Samuel 19:5 וַיָּשֶׂם֩ He took way·yā·śem אֶת־ - ’eṯ- נַפְשׁ֨וֹ his life nap̄·šōw בְכַפּ֜וֹ in his hands ḇə·ḵap·pōw וַיַּ֣ךְ when he struck down way·yaḵ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֗י the Philistine , hap·pə·liš·tî יְהוָ֜ה and YHWH Yah·weh וַיַּ֨עַשׂ worked way·ya·‘aś גְדוֹלָה֙ a great ḡə·ḏō·w·lāh תְּשׁוּעָ֤ה salvation tə·šū·‘āh לְכָל־ for all lə·ḵāl יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל Israel . yiś·rā·’êl רָאִ֖יתָ You saw rā·’î·ṯā וַתִּשְׂמָ֑ח it and rejoiced , wat·tiś·māḥ וְלָ֤מָּה so why wə·lām·māh תֶֽחֱטָא֙ would you sin ṯe·ḥĕ·ṭā נָקִ֔י against innocent nā·qî בְּדָ֣ם blood bə·ḏām לְהָמִ֥ית by killing lə·hā·mîṯ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- דָּוִ֖ד David dā·wiḏ חִנָּֽם׃ for no reason ?” ḥin·nām 1 Samuel 19:6 שָׁא֖וּל Saul šā·’ūl וַיִּשְׁמַ֥ע listened way·yiš·ma‘ בְּק֣וֹל to the voice bə·qō·wl יְהוֹנָתָ֑ן of Jonathan yə·hō·w·nā·ṯān וַיִּשָּׁבַ֣ע and swore an oath way·yiš·šā·ḇa‘ שָׁא֔וּל . . . : šā·’ūl יְהוָ֖ה “ As surely as YHWH Yah·weh חַי־ lives , ḥay- אִם־ David will not ’im- יוּמָֽת׃ be put to death .” yū·māṯ 1 Samuel 19:7 יְהוֹנָתָן֙ So Jonathan yə·hō·w·nā·ṯān וַיִּקְרָ֤א summoned way·yiq·rā לְדָוִ֔ד David lə·ḏā·wiḏ וַיַּגֶּד־ and told way·yag·geḏ- לוֹ֙ him lōw כָּל־ all kāl- הָאֵ֑לֶּה these hā·’êl·leh הַדְּבָרִ֖ים things . had·də·ḇā·rîm יְה֣וֹנָתָ֔ן Then Jonathan yə·hō·w·nā·ṯān אֵ֥ת - ’êṯ וַיָּבֵ֨א brought way·yā·ḇê יְהוֹנָתָ֤ן . . . yə·hō·w·nā·ṯān אֶת־ - ’eṯ- דָּוִד֙ David dā·wiḏ אֶל־ to ’el- שָׁא֔וּל Saul šā·’ūl וַיְהִ֥י to serve way·hî לְפָנָ֖יו him lə·p̄ā·nāw כְּאֶתְמ֥וֹל as he had before kə·’eṯ·mō·wl שִׁלְשֽׁוֹם׃ס . . . . šil·šō·wm 1 Samuel 19:8 הַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה When war ham·mil·ḥā·māh לִֽהְי֑וֹת broke out lih·yō·wṯ וַתּ֥וֹסֶף again , wat·tō·w·sep̄ דָוִ֜ד David ḏā·wiḏ וַיֵּצֵ֨א went out way·yê·ṣê וַיִּלָּ֣חֶם and fought way·yil·lā·ḥem בַּפְּלִשְׁתִּ֗ים the Philistines bap·pə·liš·tîm וַיַּ֤ךְ and struck way·yaḵ בָּהֶם֙ them bā·hem גְדוֹלָ֔ה with such a mighty ḡə·ḏō·w·lāh מַכָּ֣ה blow mak·kāh וַיָּנֻ֖סוּ that they fled way·yā·nu·sū מִפָּנָֽיו׃ before him . mip·pā·nāw 1 Samuel 19:9 וְהוּא֙ But as Saul wə·hū יוֹשֵׁ֔ב was sitting yō·wō·šêḇ בְּבֵית֣וֹ in his house bə·ḇê·ṯōw וַחֲנִית֖וֹ with his spear wa·ḥă·nî·ṯōw בְּיָד֑וֹ in his hand , bə·yā·ḏōw ר֨וּחַ a spirit rū·aḥ רָעָה֙ of distress rā·‘āh יְהוָ֤ה׀ from YHWH Yah·weh וַתְּהִי֩ came wat·tə·hî אֶל־ upon ’el- שָׁא֔וּל him . šā·’ūl וְדָוִ֖ד While David wə·ḏā·wiḏ מְנַגֵּ֥ן was playing the harp mə·nag·gên בְּיָֽד׃ . . . , bə·yāḏ 1 Samuel 19:10 שָׁא֜וּל Saul šā·’ūl
