1 Samuel 18:30 מִדֵּ֣י Every time mid·dê צֵאתָ֗ם . . . ṣê·ṯām פְלִשְׁתִּ֑ים the Philistine p̄ə·liš·tîm וַיְהִ֣י׀ . . . way·hî שָׂרֵ֣י commanders śā·rê וַיֵּצְא֖וּ came out [for battle] , way·yê·ṣə·’ū דָּוִד֙ David dā·wiḏ שָׂכַ֤ל was more successful śā·ḵal מִכֹּל֙ than all mik·kōl שָׁא֔וּל of Saul’s šā·’ūl עַבְדֵ֣י officers , ‘aḇ·ḏê שְׁמ֖וֹ so that his name šə·mōw מְאֹֽד׃ס was highly mə·’ōḏ וַיִּיקַ֥ר esteemed . way·yî·qar 1 Samuel 19:1 שָׁא֗וּל Then Saul šā·’ūl אֶל־ . . . ’el- וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר ordered way·ḏab·bêr בְּנוֹ֙ his son bə·nōw וְאֶל־ . . . wə·’el- יוֹנָתָ֤ן Jonathan yō·w·nā·ṯān כָּל־ and all kāl- עֲבָדָ֔יו his servants ‘ă·ḇā·ḏāw לְהָמִ֖ית to kill lə·hā·mîṯ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- דָּוִ֑ד David . dā·wiḏ וִיהֽוֹנָתָן֙ But Jonathan wî·hō·w·nā·ṯān שָׁא֔וּל - šā·’ūl בֶּן־ - ben- חָפֵ֥ץ delighted ḥā·p̄êṣ מְאֹֽד׃ greatly mə·’ōḏ בְּדָוִ֖ד in David , bə·ḏā·wiḏ 1 Samuel 19:2 יְהוֹנָתָן֙ so he yə·hō·w·nā·ṯān וַיַּגֵּ֤ד warned way·yag·gêḏ לְדָוִ֣ד David , lə·ḏā·wiḏ לֵאמֹ֔ר saying , lê·mōr אָבִ֖י “ My father ’ā·ḇî שָׁא֥וּל Saul šā·’ūl מְבַקֵּ֛שׁ intends mə·ḇaq·qêš לַהֲמִיתֶ֑ךָ to kill you . la·hă·mî·ṯe·ḵā וְעַתָּה֙ . . . wə·‘at·tāh הִשָּֽׁמֶר־ Be on your guard hiš·šā·mer- נָ֣א . . . nā בַבֹּ֔קֶר in the morning ; ḇab·bō·qer וְיָשַׁבְתָּ֥ find wə·yā·šaḇ·tā בַסֵּ֖תֶר a secret place ḇas·sê·ṯer וְנַחְבֵּֽאתָ׃ and hide there . wə·naḥ·bê·ṯā 1 Samuel 19:3 וַאֲנִ֨י I will wa·’ă·nî אֵצֵ֜א go out ’ê·ṣê וְעָמַדְתִּ֣י and stand wə·‘ā·maḏ·tî לְיַד־ beside lə·yaḏ- אָבִ֗י my father ’ā·ḇî בַּשָּׂדֶה֙ in the field baś·śā·ḏeh אֲשֶׁ֣ר where ’ă·šer אַתָּ֣ה you [are] , ’at·tāh שָׁ֔ם . . . šām וַאֲנִ֕י so I wa·’ă·nî אֲדַבֵּ֥ר can ask ’ă·ḏab·bêr בְּךָ֖ about you bə·ḵā אֶל־ - ’el- אָבִ֑י - . ’ā·ḇî וְרָאִ֥יתִי And if I find out wə·rā·’î·ṯî מָ֖ה anything , māh וְהִגַּ֥דְתִּי I will tell wə·hig·gaḏ·tî לָֽךְ׃ס you .” lāḵ 1 Samuel 19:4 יְהוֹנָתָ֤ן Then Jonathan yə·hō·w·nā·ṯān וַיְדַבֵּ֨ר spoke way·ḏab·bêr ט֔וֹב well ṭō·wḇ בְּדָוִד֙ of David bə·ḏā·wiḏ אֶל־ to ’el- אָבִ֑יו his father ’ā·ḇîw שָׁא֖וּל Saul šā·’ūl וַיֹּ֣אמֶר and said way·yō·mer אֵ֠לָיו to him , ’ê·lāw הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ “ The king ham·me·leḵ אַל־ should not ’al- יֶחֱטָ֨א sin ye·ḥĕ·ṭā בְּעַבְדּ֣וֹ against his servant bə·‘aḇ·dōw בְדָוִ֗ד David ; ḇə·ḏā·wiḏ ל֤וֹא he has not lō·w חָטָא֙ sinned ḥā·ṭā לָ֔ךְ against you . lāḵ וְכִ֥י . . . wə·ḵî כִּ֣י In fact , kî מַעֲשָׂ֖יו his actions ma·‘ă·śāw מְאֹֽד׃ [have been] highly mə·’ōḏ טוֹב־ beneficial ṭō·wḇ-
