גַּם־ both gam- אַתֶּ֥ם you ’at·tem גַּֽם־ and gam- מַלְכְּכֶ֖ם your king mal·kə·ḵem תִּסָּפֽוּ׃פ will be swept away .” tis·sā·p̄ū 1 Samuel 13:1 שָׁא֣וּל Saul šā·’ūl בֶּן־ was [thirty] ben- שָׁנָ֖ה years old šā·nāh בְּמָלְכ֑וֹ when he became king , bə·mā·lə·ḵōw מָלַ֖ךְ and he reigned mā·laḵ עַל־ over ‘al- יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ Israel yiś·rā·’êl וּשְׁתֵּ֣י [forty-]two ū·šə·tê שָׁנִ֔ים years . šā·nîm 1 Samuel 13:2 שָׁא֜וּל [He] šā·’ūl וַיִּבְחַר־ chose way·yiḇ·ḥar- ל֨וֹ for himself lōw שְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת three šə·lō·šeṯ אֲלָפִים֮ thousand [men] ’ă·lā·p̄îm מִיִּשְׂרָאֵל֒ of Israel : mî·yiś·rā·’êl אַלְפַּ֗יִם Two thousand ’al·pa·yim וַיִּהְי֨וּ were way·yih·yū עִם־ with ‘im- שָׁא֜וּל Saul šā·’ūl בְּמִכְמָשׂ֙ at Michmash bə·miḵ·māś וּבְהַ֣ר and in the hill country ū·ḇə·har בֵּֽית־ vvv bêṯ- אֵ֔ל of Bethel , ’êl וְאֶ֗לֶף and a thousand wə·’e·lep̄ הָיוּ֙ were hā·yū עִם־ with ‘im- י֣וֹנָתָ֔ן Jonathan yō·w·nā·ṯān בְּגִבְעַ֖ת in Gibeah bə·ḡiḇ·‘aṯ בִּנְיָמִ֑ין of Benjamin . bin·yā·mîn וְיֶ֣תֶר And the rest wə·ye·ṯer הָעָ֔ם of the troops hā·‘ām שִׁלַּ֖ח he sent away , šil·laḥ אִ֥ישׁ each ’îš לְאֹהָלָֽיו׃ to his own [home] . lə·’ō·hā·lāw 1 Samuel 13:3 יוֹנָתָ֗ן Then Jonathan yō·w·nā·ṯān אֵ֣ת - ’êṯ וַיַּ֣ךְ attacked way·yaḵ פְּלִשְׁתִּים֙ the Philistine pə·liš·tîm נְצִ֤יב outpost nə·ṣîḇ אֲשֶׁ֣ר ’ă·šer בְּגֶ֔בַע at Geba , bə·ḡe·ḇa‘ פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים and the Philistines pə·liš·tîm וַֽיִּשְׁמְע֖וּ heard [about it] . way·yiš·mə·‘ū וְשָׁאוּל֩ So Saul wə·šā·’ūl תָּקַ֨ע blew tā·qa‘ בַּשּׁוֹפָ֤ר the ram’s horn baš·šō·w·p̄ār בְּכָל־ throughout bə·ḵāl הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ the land , hā·’ā·reṣ לֵאמֹ֔ר saying , lê·mōr הָעִבְרִֽים׃ “ Let the Hebrews hā·‘iḇ·rîm יִשְׁמְע֖וּ hear !” yiš·mə·‘ū 1 Samuel 13:4 וְכָל־ And all wə·ḵāl יִשְׂרָאֵ֞ל Israel yiś·rā·’êl שָׁמְע֣וּ heard šā·mə·‘ū לֵאמֹ֗ר the news : lê·mōr שָׁאוּל֙ “ Saul šā·’ūl אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הִכָּ֤ה has attacked hik·kāh נְצִ֣יב an outpost nə·ṣîḇ פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים of the Philistines , pə·liš·tîm וְגַם־ and now wə·ḡam- יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל Israel yiś·rā·’êl נִבְאַשׁ has become a stench niḇ·’aš בַּפְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים to the Philistines ! ” bap·pə·liš·tîm הָעָ֛ם Then the people hā·‘ām אַחֲרֵ֥י . . . ’a·ḥă·rê וַיִּצָּעֲק֥וּ were summoned way·yiṣ·ṣā·‘ă·qū שָׁא֖וּל to join Saul šā·’ūl הַגִּלְגָּֽל׃ at Gilgal . hag·gil·gāl 1 Samuel 13:5 וּפְלִשְׁתִּ֞ים Now the Philistines ū·p̄ə·liš·tîm נֶאֶסְפ֣וּ׀ assembled ne·’es·p̄ū לְהִלָּחֵ֣ם to fight lə·hil·lā·ḥêm עִם־ against ‘im- יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל Israel yiś·rā·’êl שְׁלֹשִׁ֨ים with three šə·lō·šîm אֶ֤לֶף thousand ’e·lep̄ רֶ֙כֶב֙ chariots , re·ḵeḇ וְשֵׁ֤שֶׁת six wə·šê·šeṯ אֲלָפִים֙ thousand ’ă·lā·p̄îm פָּרָשִׁ֔ים horsemen , pā·rā·šîm
