מִבְּנ֥וֹת woman , ” mib·bə·nō·wṯ Genesis 28:7 יַעֲקֹ֔ב and that Jacob ya·‘ă·qōḇ וַיִּשְׁמַ֣ע had obeyed way·yiš·ma‘ אֶל־ . . . ’el- אָבִ֖יו his father ’ā·ḇîw וְאֶל־ . . . wə·’el- אִמּ֑וֹ and mother ’im·mōw וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ and gone way·yê·leḵ פַּדֶּ֥נָֽה vvv pad·de·nāh אֲרָֽם׃ to Paddan-aram . ’ă·rām Genesis 28:8 עֵשָׂ֔ו And ‘ê·śāw וַיַּ֣רְא seeing way·yar כִּ֥י that kî אָבִֽיו׃ his father ’ā·ḇîw יִצְחָ֥ק Isaac yiṣ·ḥāq רָע֖וֹת disapproved of rā·‘ō·wṯ בְּעֵינֵ֖י . . . bə·‘ê·nê כְּנָ֑עַן the Canaanite kə·nā·‘an בְּנ֣וֹת women , bə·nō·wṯ Genesis 28:9 עֵשָׂ֖ו Esau ‘ê·śāw וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ went way·yê·leḵ אֶל־ to ’el- יִשְׁמָעֵ֑אל Ishmael yiš·mā·‘êl וַיִּקַּ֡ח and married way·yiq·qaḥ אֶֽת־ - ’eṯ- מָחֲלַ֣ת׀ Mahalath , mā·ḥă·laṯ אֲח֧וֹת the sister ’ă·ḥō·wṯ נְבָי֛וֹת of Nebaioth nə·ḇā·yō·wṯ בַּת־ [and] daughter baṯ- אַבְרָהָ֜ם of Abraham’s ’aḇ·rā·hām בֶּן־ son ben- יִשְׁמָעֵ֨אל Ishmael , yiš·mā·‘êl עַל־ in addition to ‘al- לְאִשָּֽׁה׃ס the wives lə·’iš·šāh נָשָׁ֖יו . . . nā·šāw ל֥וֹ he already had . lōw Genesis 28:10 יַעֲקֹ֖ב Meanwhile Jacob ya·‘ă·qōḇ וַיֵּצֵ֥א left way·yê·ṣê מִבְּאֵ֣ר mib·bə·’êr שָׁ֑בַע Beersheba šā·ḇa‘ וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ and set out for way·yê·leḵ חָרָֽנָה׃ Haran . ḥā·rā·nāh Genesis 28:11 וַיִּפְגַּ֨ע On reaching way·yip̄·ga‘ בַּמָּק֜וֹם a certain place , bam·mā·qō·wm וַיָּ֤לֶן he spent the night way·yā·len שָׁם֙ there šām כִּי־ because kî- הַשֶּׁ֔מֶשׁ the sun haš·še·meš בָ֣א had set . ḇā וַיִּקַּח֙ And taking way·yiq·qaḥ מֵאַבְנֵ֣י one of the stones mê·’aḇ·nê הַמָּק֔וֹם from that place , ham·mā·qō·wm וַיָּ֖שֶׂם he put way·yā·śem מְרַֽאֲשֹׁתָ֑יו it under his head mə·ra·’ă·šō·ṯāw וַיִּשְׁכַּ֖ב and lay down way·yiš·kaḇ הַהֽוּא׃ vvv ha·hū בַּמָּק֥וֹם to sleep . bam·mā·qō·wm Genesis 28:12 וַֽיַּחֲלֹ֗ם And [Jacob] had a dream way·ya·ḥă·lōm וְהִנֵּ֤ה about wə·hin·nêh סֻלָּם֙ a ladder sul·lām מֻצָּ֣ב that rested muṣ·ṣāḇ אַ֔רְצָה on the earth ’ar·ṣāh וְרֹאשׁ֖וֹ with its top wə·rō·šōw מַגִּ֣יעַ reaching mag·gî·a‘ הַשָּׁמָ֑יְמָה up to heaven , haš·šā·mā·yə·māh וְהִנֵּה֙ . . . wə·hin·nêh אֱלֹהִ֔ים and God’s ’ĕ·lō·hîm מַלְאֲכֵ֣י angels mal·’ă·ḵê עֹלִ֥ים were going up ‘ō·lîm וְיֹרְדִ֖ים and down wə·yō·rə·ḏîm בּֽוֹ׃ [the ladder] . bōw Genesis 28:13 וְהִנֵּ֨ה And there wə·hin·nêh עָלָיו֮ at the top ‘ā·lāw יְהוָ֜ה YHWH Yah·weh נִצָּ֣ב was standing niṣ·ṣāḇ וַיֹּאמַר֒ and saying , way·yō·mar אֲנִ֣י “ I ’ă·nî יְהוָ֗ה am YHWH , Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵי֙ the God ’ĕ·lō·hê
