בָּאִים֙ were entering bā·’îm בְּת֣וֹךְ . . . bə·ṯō·wḵ הָעִ֔יר it , hā·‘îr וְהִנֵּ֤ה there was wə·hin·nêh שְׁמוּאֵל֙ Samuel šə·mū·’êl יֹצֵ֣א coming yō·ṣê לִקְרָאתָ֔ם toward them liq·rā·ṯām לַעֲל֖וֹת on his way up la·‘ă·lō·wṯ הַבָּמָֽה׃ס to the high place . hab·bā·māh 1 Samuel 9:15 י֣וֹם Now on the day yō·wm אֶחָ֔ד . . . ’e·ḥāḏ לִפְנֵ֥י before lip̄·nê שָׁא֖וּל Saul’s šā·’ūl לֵאמֹֽר׃ . . . lê·mōr בֽוֹא־ arrival , ḇō·w- וַֽיהוָ֔ה YHWH Yah·weh גָּלָ֖ה had revealed gā·lāh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אֹ֣זֶן - ’ō·zen שְׁמוּאֵ֑ל to Samuel , šə·mū·’êl 1 Samuel 9:16 כָּעֵ֣ת׀ “ At this time kā·‘êṯ מָחָ֡ר tomorrow mā·ḥār אֶשְׁלַח֩ I will send ’eš·laḥ אֵלֶ֨יךָ you ’ê·le·ḵā אִ֜ישׁ a man ’îš מֵאֶ֣רֶץ from the land mê·’e·reṣ בִּנְיָמִ֗ן of Benjamin , bin·yā·min וּמְשַׁחְתּ֤וֹ and you are to anoint him ū·mə·šaḥ·tōw לְנָגִיד֙ leader lə·nā·ḡîḏ עַל־ over ‘al- עַמִּ֣י My people ‘am·mî יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל Israel ; yiś·rā·’êl וְהוֹשִׁ֥יעַ he will save wə·hō·wō·šî·a‘ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- עַמִּ֖י them ‘am·mî מִיַּ֣ד from the hand mî·yaḏ פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים of the Philistines . pə·liš·tîm כִּ֤י For kî רָאִ֙יתִי֙ I have looked upon rā·’î·ṯî אֶת־ - ’eṯ- עַמִּ֔י My people , ‘am·mî כִּ֛י because kî צַעֲקָת֖וֹ their cry ṣa·‘ă·qā·ṯōw בָּ֥אָה has come bā·’āh אֵלָֽי׃ to Me .” ’ê·lāy 1 Samuel 9:17 וּשְׁמוּאֵ֖ל When Samuel ū·šə·mū·’êl רָאָ֣ה saw rā·’āh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- שָׁא֑וּל Saul , šā·’ūl וַיהוָ֣ה YHWH Yah·weh עָנָ֔הוּ told him , ‘ā·nā·hū הִנֵּ֤ה “ Here hin·nêh הָאִישׁ֙ is the man hā·’îš אֲשֶׁ֣ר of whom ’ă·šer אָמַ֣רְתִּי I spoke ’ā·mar·tî אֵלֶ֔יךָ . . . ; ’ê·le·ḵā זֶ֖ה he zeh יַעְצֹ֥ר shall rule ya‘·ṣōr בְּעַמִּֽי׃ over My people .” bə·‘am·mî 1 Samuel 9:18 שָׁא֛וּל Saul šā·’ūl אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיִּגַּ֥שׁ approached way·yig·gaš שְׁמוּאֵ֖ל Samuel šə·mū·’êl בְּת֣וֹךְ in bə·ṯō·wḵ הַשָּׁ֑עַר the gateway haš·šā·‘ar וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ and asked , way·yō·mer נָּ֣א “ Would you please nā הַגִּֽידָה־ tell hag·gî·ḏāh- לִ֔י me lî אֵי־ where ’ê- זֶ֖ה - zeh הָרֹאֶֽה׃ the seer’s hā·rō·’eh בֵּ֥ית house [is] ? ” bêṯ 1 Samuel 9:19 אָנֹכִ֣י “ I ’ā·nō·ḵî הָרֹאֶ֔ה am the seer , ” hā·rō·’eh שְׁמוּאֵ֜ל Samuel šə·mū·’êl אֶת־ - ’eṯ- שָׁא֗וּל - šā·’ūl וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ . . . way·yō·mer וַיַּ֨עַן replied . way·ya·‘an עֲלֵ֤ה “ Go up ‘ă·lêh לְפָנַי֙ before me lə·p̄ā·nay הַבָּמָ֔ה to the high place , hab·bā·māh וַאֲכַלְתֶּ֥ם for you shall eat wa·’ă·ḵal·tem עִמִּ֖י with me ‘im·mî
