1 Samuel 7:9 שְׁמוּאֵ֗ל Then Samuel šə·mū·’êl וַיִּקַּ֣ח took way·yiq·qaḥ אֶחָ֔ד a ’e·ḥāḏ חָלָב֙ suckling ḥā·lāḇ טְלֵ֤ה lamb ṭə·lêh וַיַּעֲלֶה and offered it way·ya·ʿă·lɛh כָּלִ֖יל as a whole kā·lîl עוֹלָ֛ה burnt offering ‘ō·w·lāh לַֽיהוָ֑ה to YHWH . Yah·weh שְׁמוּאֵ֤ל He šə·mū·’êl וַיִּזְעַ֨ק cried out way·yiz·‘aq אֶל־ to ’el- יְהוָה֙ YHWH Yah·weh בְּעַ֣ד on behalf of bə·‘aḏ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל Israel , yiś·rā·’êl יְהוָֽה׃ and YHWH Yah·weh וַֽיַּעֲנֵ֖הוּ answered him . way·ya·‘ă·nê·hū 1 Samuel 7:10 וּפְלִשְׁתִּ֣ים As the Philistines ū·p̄ə·liš·tîm נִגְּשׁ֔וּ drew near nig·gə·šū לַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה to fight lam·mil·ḥā·māh בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל against Israel , bə·yiś·rā·’êl שְׁמוּאֵל֙ Samuel šə·mū·’êl וַיְהִ֤י was way·hî מַעֲלֶ֣ה sacrificing ma·‘ă·leh הָעוֹלָ֔ה the burnt offering . hā·‘ō·w·lāh הַה֤וּא But that ha·hū בַּיּ֨וֹם day bay·yō·wm יְהוָ֣ה׀ YHWH Yah·weh וַיַּרְעֵ֣ם thundered way·yar·‘êm בְּקוֹל־ loudly bə·qō·wl- גָּ֠דוֹל . . . gā·ḏō·wl עַל־ against ‘al- פְּלִשְׁתִּים֙ the Philistines pə·liš·tîm וַיְהֻמֵּ֔ם and threw them into such confusion way·hum·mêm וַיִּנָּגְפ֖וּ that they fled way·yin·nā·ḡə·p̄ū לִפְנֵ֥י before lip̄·nê יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ Israel . yiś·rā·’êl 1 Samuel 7:11 אַנְשֵׁ֤י Then the men ’an·šê יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ of Israel yiś·rā·’êl וַיֵּ֨צְא֜וּ charged out way·yê·ṣə·’ū מִן־ of min- הַמִּצְפָּ֔ה Mizpah ham·miṣ·pāh וַֽיִּרְדְּפ֖וּ and pursued way·yir·də·p̄ū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים the Philistines , pə·liš·tîm וַיַּכּ֕וּם striking them down way·yak·kūm עַד־ vvv ‘aḏ- מִתַּ֖חַת all the way to mit·ta·ḥaṯ לְבֵ֥ית an area below lə·ḇêṯ כָּֽר׃ Beth-car . kār 1 Samuel 7:12 שְׁמוּאֵ֜ל Afterward, Samuel šə·mū·’êl וַיִּקַּ֨ח took way·yiq·qaḥ אַחַ֗ת a ’a·ḥaṯ אֶ֣בֶן stone ’e·ḇen וַיָּ֤שֶׂם and set [it] up way·yā·śem בֵּֽין־ between bên- הַמִּצְפָּה֙ Mizpah ham·miṣ·pāh וּבֵ֣ין . . . ū·ḇên הַשֵּׁ֔ן and Shen . haš·šên וַיִּקְרָ֥א He named way·yiq·rā אֶת־ - ’eṯ- שְׁמָ֖הּ - šə·māh אֶ֣בֶן vvv ’e·ḇen הָעָ֑זֶר it Ebenezer , hā·‘ā·zer וַיֹּאמַ֕ר saying , way·yō·mar הֵ֖נָּה “ Thus hên·nāh עַד־ far ‘aḏ- יְהוָֽה׃ YHWH Yah·weh עֲזָרָ֥נוּ has helped us .” ‘ă·zā·rā·nū 1 Samuel 7:13 הַפְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים So the Philistines hap·pə·liš·tîm וַיִּכָּֽנְעוּ֙ were subdued , way·yik·kā·nə·‘ū וְלֹא־ and they stopped wə·lō- לָב֖וֹא invading lā·ḇō·w בִּגְב֣וּל the territory biḡ·ḇūl יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל of Israel yiś·rā·’êl יָסְפ֣וּ - yā·sə·p̄ū ע֔וֹד - . ‘ō·wḏ יַד־ And the hand yaḏ- יְהוָה֙ of YHWH Yah·weh וַתְּהִ֤י was wat·tə·hî בַּפְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים against the Philistines bap·pə·liš·tîm כֹּ֖ל all kōl יְמֵ֥י the days yə·mê שְׁמוּאֵֽל׃ of Samuel . šə·mū·’êl 1 Samuel 7:14 הֶעָרִ֡ים The cities he·‘ā·rîm
