הָאָֽרֶץ׃ the land ! hā·’ā·reṣ Judges 18:10 כְּבֹאֲכֶ֞ם When you enter , kə·ḇō·’ă·ḵem תָּבֹ֣אוּ׀ you will come tā·ḇō·’ū אֶל־ to ’el- בֹּטֵ֗חַ an unsuspecting bō·ṭê·aḥ עַ֣ם people ‘am רַחֲבַ֣ת and a spacious ra·ḥă·ḇaṯ יָדַ֔יִם . . . yā·ḏa·yim וְהָאָ֙רֶץ֙ land , wə·hā·’ā·reṣ כִּֽי־ for kî- אֱלֹהִ֖ים God ’ĕ·lō·hîm נְתָנָ֥הּ has delivered it nə·ṯā·nāh בְּיֶדְכֶ֑ם into your hand . bə·yeḏ·ḵem מָקוֹם֙ It is a place mā·qō·wm אֲשֶׁ֣ר where ’ă·šer אֵֽין־ nothing ’ên- שָׁ֣ם . . . šām כָּל־ . . . kāl- דָּבָ֖ר . . . dā·ḇār אֲשֶׁ֥ר - ’ă·šer בָּאָֽרֶץ׃ on earth bā·’ā·reṣ מַחְס֔וֹר is lacking . ” maḥ·sō·wr Judges 18:11 שֵֽׁשׁ־ So six šêš- מֵא֣וֹת hundred mê·’ō·wṯ אִ֔ישׁ . . . ’îš הַדָּנִ֔י Danites had·dā·nî וַיִּסְע֤וּ departed way·yis·‘ū מִשָּׁם֙ from miš·šām מִמִּשְׁפַּ֣חַת . . . mim·miš·pa·ḥaṯ מִצָּרְעָ֖ה Zorah miṣ·ṣā·rə·‘āh וּמֵאֶשְׁתָּאֹ֑ל and Eshtaol , ū·mê·’eš·tā·’ōl חָג֖וּר armed ḥā·ḡūr כְּלֵ֥י with weapons kə·lê מִלְחָמָֽה׃ of war . mil·ḥā·māh Judges 18:12 וַֽיַּעֲל֗וּ They went up way·ya·‘ă·lū וַֽיַּחֲנ֛וּ and camped way·ya·ḥă·nū בְּקִרְיַ֥ת vvv bə·qir·yaṯ יְעָרִ֖ים at Kiriath-jearim yə·‘ā·rîm בִּֽיהוּדָ֑ה in Judah . bî·hū·ḏāh עַל־ That is why ‘al- כֵּ֡ן . . . kên הַה֜וּא the ha·hū לַמָּק֨וֹם place lam·mā·qō·wm אַחֲרֵ֖י west ’a·ḥă·rê קִרְיַ֥ת vvv qir·yaṯ יְעָרִֽים׃ of Kiriath-jearim yə·‘ā·rîm קָרְאוּ֩ is called qā·rə·’ū מַחֲנֵה־ vvv ma·ḥă·nêh- דָ֗ן Mahaneh-dan ḏān עַ֚ד to ‘aḏ הַזֶּ֔ה this haz·zeh הִנֵּ֕ה . . . hin·nêh הַיּ֣וֹם day . hay·yō·wm Judges 18:13 מִשָּׁ֖ם And from there miš·šām וַיַּעַבְר֥וּ they traveled way·ya·‘aḇ·rū הַר־ to the hill country har- אֶפְרָ֑יִם of Ephraim ’ep̄·rā·yim וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ and came way·yā·ḇō·’ū עַד־ to ‘aḏ- מִיכָֽה׃ Micah’s mî·ḵāh בֵּ֥ית house . bêṯ Judges 18:14 וַֽיַּעֲנ֞וּ - way·ya·‘ă·nū חֲמֵ֣שֶׁת Then the five ḥă·mê·šeṯ הָאֲנָשִׁ֗ים men hā·’ă·nā·šîm הַהֹלְכִים֮ who had gone ha·hō·lə·ḵîm לְרַגֵּל֮ to spy out lə·rag·gêl אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָאָ֣רֶץ the land hā·’ā·reṣ לַיִשׁ֒ of Laish la·yiš וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ said way·yō·mə·rū אֶל־ to ’el- אֲחֵיהֶ֔ם their brothers , ’ă·ḥê·hem הַיְדַעְתֶּ֗ם “ Did you know hay·ḏa‘·tem כִּ֠י that kî הָאֵ֙לֶּה֙ one of these hā·’êl·leh בַּבָּתִּ֤ים houses bab·bāt·tîm יֵ֣שׁ has yêš אֵפ֣וֹד an ephod , ’ê·p̄ō·wḏ וּתְרָפִ֔ים household gods , ū·ṯə·rā·p̄îm וּפֶ֖סֶל a graven image , ū·p̄e·sel וּמַסֵּכָ֑ה and a molten idol ? ū·mas·sê·ḵāh וְעַתָּ֖ה Now wə·‘at·tāh דְּע֥וּ think about də·‘ū מַֽה־ what mah- תַּעֲשֽׂוּ׃ you should do . ” ta·‘ă·śū
