יָמִֽים׃ days yā·mîm וְלֹ֥א they were unable wə·lō יָכְל֛וּ . . . yā·ḵə·lū לְהַגִּ֥יד to explain lə·hag·gîḏ הַחִידָ֖ה the riddle . ha·ḥî·ḏāh Judges 14:15 וַיְהִ֣י׀ So way·hî הַשְּׁבִיעִ֗י on the fourth haš·šə·ḇî·‘î בַּיּ֣וֹם day bay·yō·wm וַיֹּאמְר֤וּ they said way·yō·mə·rū שִׁמְשׁוֹן֙ to Samson’s šim·šō·wn לְאֵֽשֶׁת־ wife , lə·’ê·šeṯ- פַּתִּ֣י “ Entice pat·tî אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אִישֵׁ֗ךְ your husband ’î·šêḵ וְיַגֶּד־ to explain wə·yag·geḏ- הַ֣חִידָ֔ה the riddle ha·ḥî·ḏāh לָ֙נוּ֙ to us , lā·nū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- פֶּן־ or pen- נִשְׂרֹ֥ף we will burn niś·rōp̄ אוֹתָ֛ךְ you ’ō·w·ṯāḵ וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- אָבִ֖יךְ and your father’s ’ā·ḇîḵ בֵּ֥ית household bêṯ בָּאֵ֑שׁ to death . bā·’êš קְרָאתֶ֥ם Did you invite us qə·rā·ṯem לָ֖נוּ here lā·nū הֲלֹֽא׃ . . . hă·lō הַלְיָרְשֵׁ֕נוּ to rob us ? ” hal·yā·rə·šê·nū Judges 14:16 שִׁמְשׁ֜וֹן Then Samson’s šim·šō·wn אֵ֨שֶׁת wife ’ê·šeṯ עָלָ֗יו came to him , ‘ā·lāw וַתֵּבְךְּ֩ weeping , wat·tê·ḇək וַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙ and said , wat·tō·mer רַק־ . . . raq- שְׂנֵאתַ֙נִי֙ “ You hate me ! śə·nê·ṯa·nî וְלֹ֣א You do not really wə·lō אֲהַבְתָּ֔נִי love me ! ’ă·haḇ·tā·nî חַ֙דְתָּ֙ You have posed ḥaḏ·tā לִבְנֵ֣י to my people liḇ·nê עַמִּ֔י . . . ‘am·mî וְלִ֖י . . . wə·lî הַֽחִידָ֥ה a riddle , ha·ḥî·ḏāh לֹ֣א but have not lō הִגַּ֑דְתָּה explained it to me . ” hig·gaḏ·tāh הִנֵּ֨ה “ Look , ” hin·nêh וַיֹּ֣אמֶר he said way·yō·mer לָ֗הּ , lāh לֹ֥א “ I have not lō הִגַּ֖דְתִּי even explained hig·gaḏ·tî לְאָבִ֧י it to my father lə·’ā·ḇî וּלְאִמִּ֛י or mother , ū·lə·’im·mî אַגִּֽיד׃ so why should I explain it ’ag·gîḏ וְלָ֥ךְ to you ? ” wə·lāḵ Judges 14:17 וַתֵּ֤בְךְּ She wept wat·tê·ḇək עָלָיו֙ . . . ‘ā·lāw שִׁבְעַ֣ת the whole seven šiḇ·‘aṯ הַיָּמִ֔ים days hay·yā·mîm אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- הָיָ֥ה - hā·yāh לָהֶ֖ם lā·hem הַמִּשְׁתֶּ֑ה of the feast , ham·miš·teh וַיְהִ֣י׀ and finally way·hî הַשְּׁבִיעִ֗י on the seventh haš·šə·ḇî·‘î בַּיּ֣וֹם day , bay·yō·wm כִּ֣י because kî הֱצִיקַ֔תְהוּ she had pressed him so much , hĕ·ṣî·qaṯ·hū וַיַּגֶּד־ he told way·yag·geḏ- לָהּ֙ her [the answer] . lāh וַתַּגֵּ֥ד And in turn she explained wat·tag·gêḏ הַחִידָ֖ה the riddle ha·ḥî·ḏāh לִבְנֵ֥י to her people liḇ·nê עַמָּֽהּ׃ . . . . ‘am·māh Judges 14:18 בְּטֶ֙רֶם֙ Before bə·ṭe·rem יָבֹ֣א sunset yā·ḇō הַחַ֔רְסָה . . . ha·ḥar·sāh הַשְּׁבִיעִ֗י on the seventh haš·šə·ḇî·‘î בַּיּ֣וֹם day , bay·yō·wm אַנְשֵׁ֨י the men ’an·šê הָעִ֜יר of the city hā·‘îr וַיֹּ֣אמְרוּ said way·yō·mə·rū לוֹ֩ to [Samson] : lōw מַה־ “ What mah- מָּת֣וֹק is sweeter mā·ṯō·wq מִדְּבַ֔שׁ than honey ? mid·də·ḇaš וּמֶ֥ה And what [is] ū·meh עַ֖ז stronger ‘az מֵאֲרִ֑י than a lion ? ” mê·’ă·rî
