בְנֵֽי־ - ḇə·nê- עַמּ֖וֹן - ‘am·mō·wn נִלְחֲמ֥וּ made war nil·ḥă·mū עִם־ with ‘im- יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל [them] , yiś·rā·’êl זִקְנֵ֣י the elders ziq·nê גִלְעָ֔ד of Gilead ḡil·‘āḏ וַיֵּֽלְכוּ֙ went way·yê·lə·ḵū לָקַ֥חַת to get lā·qa·ḥaṯ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יִפְתָּ֖ח Jephthah yip̄·tāḥ מֵאֶ֥רֶץ from the land mê·’e·reṣ טֽוֹב׃ of Tob . ṭō·wḇ Judges 11:6 לְכָ֕ה “ Come , ” lə·ḵāh וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ they said way·yō·mə·rū לְיִפְתָּ֔ח - , lə·yip̄·tāḥ וְהָיִ֥יתָה “ be wə·hā·yî·ṯāh לָּ֖נוּ our lā·nū לְקָצִ֑ין commander , lə·qā·ṣîn וְנִֽלָּחֲמָ֖ה so that we can fight wə·nil·lā·ḥă·māh בִּבְנֵ֥י against the Ammonites biḇ·nê עַמּֽוֹן׃ . . . . ” ‘am·mō·wn Judges 11:7 יִפְתָּח֙ Jephthah yip̄·tāḥ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר replied way·yō·mer לְזִקְנֵ֣י to the elders lə·ziq·nê גִלְעָ֔ד of Gilead , ḡil·‘āḏ אַתֶּם֙ “ Did you ’at·tem הֲלֹ֤א not hă·lō שְׂנֵאתֶ֣ם hate śə·nê·ṯem אוֹתִ֔י me ’ō·w·ṯî וַתְּגָרְשׁ֖וּנִי and expel me wat·tə·ḡā·rə·šū·nî אָבִ֑י from my father’s ’ā·ḇî מִבֵּ֣ית house ? mib·bêṯ וּמַדּ֜וּעַ Why ū·mad·dū·a‘ בָּאתֶ֤ם then have you come bā·ṯem אֵלַי֙ to me ’ê·lay עַ֔תָּה now , ‘at·tāh כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר when ka·’ă·šer צַ֥ר you are in distress ṣar לָכֶֽם׃ . . . ? ” lā·ḵem Judges 11:8 זִקְנֵ֨י They ziq·nê גִלְעָ֜ד . . . ḡil·‘āḏ וַיֹּאמְרוּ֩ answered way·yō·mə·rū יִפְתָּ֗ח Jephthah , yip̄·tāḥ לָכֵן֙ “ This is why lā·ḵên עַתָּה֙ we now ‘at·tāh שַׁ֣בְנוּ turn šaḇ·nū אֵלֶ֔יךָ . . . ’ê·le·ḵā אֶל־ to you , ’el- וְהָלַכְתָּ֣ that you may go wə·hā·laḵ·tā עִמָּ֔נוּ with us , ‘im·mā·nū וְנִלְחַמְתָּ֖ fight wə·nil·ḥam·tā בִּבְנֵ֣י the Ammonites biḇ·nê עַמּ֑וֹן . . . , ‘am·mō·wn וְהָיִ֤יתָ and become wə·hā·yî·ṯā לְרֹ֔אשׁ leader lə·rōš לְכֹ֖ל over all lə·ḵōl לָּ֙נוּ֙ of us lā·nū יֹשְׁבֵ֥י who live yō·šə·ḇê גִלְעָֽד׃ in Gilead . ” ḡil·‘āḏ Judges 11:9 יִפְתָּ֜ח But Jephthah yip̄·tāḥ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר asked way·yō·mer אֶל־ vvv ’el- זִקְנֵ֣י [them] ziq·nê גִלְעָ֗ד . . . , ḡil·‘āḏ אִם־ “ If ’im- אַתֶּ֤ם you ’at·tem אוֹתִי֙ - ’ō·w·ṯî מְשִׁיבִ֨ים take me back mə·šî·ḇîm לְהִלָּחֵם֙ to fight lə·hil·lā·ḥêm בִּבְנֵ֣י the Ammonites biḇ·nê עַמּ֔וֹן . . . ‘am·mō·wn יְהוָ֛ה and YHWH Yah·weh אוֹתָ֖ם - ’ō·w·ṯām וְנָתַ֧ן gives them wə·nā·ṯan לְפָנָ֑י to me , lə·p̄ā·nāy אָנֹכִ֕י will I ’ā·nō·ḵî אֶהְיֶ֥ה really be ’eh·yeh לָכֶ֖ם your lā·ḵem לְרֹֽאשׁ׃ leader ? ” lə·rōš Judges 11:10 זִקְנֵֽי־ And the elders ziq·nê- גִלְעָ֖ד of Gilead ḡil·‘āḏ וַיֹּאמְר֥וּ said way·yō·mə·rū אֶל־ to ’el- יִפְתָּ֑ח Jephthah , yip̄·tāḥ
