Judges 9:46 וַֽיִּשְׁמְע֔וּ On hearing of this , way·yiš·mə·‘ū כָּֽל־ all kāl- בַּעֲלֵ֖י the leaders ba·‘ă·lê מִֽגְדַּל־ in the tower miḡ·dal- שְׁכֶ֑ם of Shechem šə·ḵem וַיָּבֹ֣אוּ entered way·yā·ḇō·’ū אֶל־ . . . ’el- צְרִ֔יחַ the inner chamber ṣə·rî·aḥ בֵּ֖ית of the temple bêṯ אֵ֥ל . . . ’êl בְּרִֽית׃ of El-berith . bə·rîṯ Judges 9:47 לַאֲבִימֶ֑לֶךְ And when Abimelech la·’ă·ḇî·me·leḵ וַיֻּגַּ֖ד was told way·yug·gaḏ כִּ֣י that kî כָּֽל־ all kāl- בַּעֲלֵ֖י the leaders ba·‘ă·lê מִֽגְדַּל־ in the tower miḡ·dal- שְׁכֶֽם׃ of Shechem šə·ḵem הִֽתְקַבְּצ֔וּ were gathered there , hiṯ·qab·bə·ṣū Judges 9:48 אֲבִימֶ֜לֶךְ he ’ă·ḇî·me·leḵ וְכָל־ and all wə·ḵāl הָעָ֣ם his men hā·‘ām אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- אִתּוֹ֒ - ’it·tōw וַיַּ֨עַל went up way·ya·‘al הַר־ to Mount har- צַלְמ֗וֹן Zalmon . ṣal·mō·wn הוּא֮ . . . hū אֲבִימֶ֨לֶךְ Abimelech ’ă·ḇî·me·leḵ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיִּקַּח֩ took way·yiq·qaḥ הַקַּרְדֻּמּ֜וֹת his axe haq·qar·dum·mō·wṯ בְּיָד֗וֹ in his hand bə·yā·ḏōw וַיִּכְרֹת֙ and cut way·yiḵ·rōṯ שׂוֹכַ֣ת a branch śō·w·ḵaṯ עֵצִ֔ים from the trees , ‘ê·ṣîm וַיִּ֨שָּׂאֶ֔הָ which he lifted way·yiś·śā·’e·hā וַיָּ֖שֶׂם way·yā·śem עַל־ to ‘al- שִׁכְמ֑וֹ his shoulder , šiḵ·mōw וַיֹּ֜אמֶר saying way·yō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- הָעָ֣ם his men hā·‘ām אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- עִמּ֗וֹ - , ‘im·mōw מַהֲר֖וּ “ Hurry ma·hă·rū עָשִׂ֔יתִי and do ‘ā·śî·ṯî מָ֤ה what māh רְאִיתֶם֙ you have seen me rə·’î·ṯem עֲשׂ֥וּ do ‘ă·śū כָמֽוֹנִי׃ . . . . ” ḵā·mō·w·nî Judges 9:49 כָּל־ So each kāl- אִ֣ישׁ man ’îš הָעָ֜ם - hā·‘ām גַם־ also ḡam- וַיִּכְרְת֨וּ cut way·yiḵ·rə·ṯū שׂוֹכֹ֗ה his own branch śō·w·ḵōh וַיֵּ֨לְכ֜וּ and followed way·yê·lə·ḵū אַחֲרֵ֤י . . . ’a·ḥă·rê אֲבִימֶ֙לֶךְ֙ Abimelech . ’ă·ḇî·me·leḵ וַיָּשִׂ֣ימוּ Then they piled [the branches] way·yā·śî·mū עַֽל־ against ‘al- הַצְּרִ֔יחַ the inner chamber haṣ·ṣə·rî·aḥ וַיַּצִּ֧יתוּ and set way·yaṣ·ṣî·ṯū אֶֽת־ - ’eṯ- הַצְּרִ֖יחַ [it] haṣ·ṣə·rî·aḥ בָּאֵ֑שׁ on fire bā·’êš עֲלֵיהֶ֛ם above them , ‘ă·lê·hem וַיָּמֻ֜תוּ killing way·yā·mu·ṯū גַּ֣ם . . . gam כָּל־ everyone kāl- אַנְשֵׁ֧י . . . ’an·šê מִֽגְדַּל־ in the tower miḡ·dal- שְׁכֶ֛ם of Shechem , šə·ḵem כְּאֶ֖לֶף about a thousand kə·’e·lep̄ אִ֥ישׁ men ’îš וְאִשָּֽׁה׃פ and women . wə·’iš·šāh Judges 9:50 אֲבִימֶ֖לֶךְ Then Abimelech ’ă·ḇî·me·leḵ וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ went way·yê·leḵ אֶל־ to ’el- תֵּבֵ֑ץ Thebez , tê·ḇêṣ וַיִּ֥חַן encamped way·yi·ḥan בְּתֵבֵ֖ץ against it , bə·ṯê·ḇêṣ וַֽיִּלְכְּדָֽהּ׃ and captured it . way·yil·kə·ḏāh Judges 9:51 הָיָ֣ה But there was hā·yāh
