Judges 9:40 אֲבִימֶ֔לֶךְ but Abimelech ’ă·ḇî·me·leḵ וַיִּרְדְּפֵ֣הוּ pursued him , way·yir·də·p̄ê·hū וַיָּ֖נָס and Gaal fled way·yā·nās מִפָּנָ֑יו before him . mip·pā·nāw רַבִּ֖ים And many [Shechemites] rab·bîm וַֽיִּפְּל֛וּ fell way·yip·pə·lū חֲלָלִ֥ים wounded ḥă·lā·lîm עַד־ all the way ‘aḏ- פֶּ֥תַח to the entrance pe·ṯaḥ הַשָּֽׁעַר׃ of the gate . haš·šā·‘ar Judges 9:41 אֲבִימֶ֖לֶךְ Abimelech ’ă·ḇî·me·leḵ וַיֵּ֥שֶׁב stayed way·yê·šeḇ בָּארוּמָ֑ה in Arumah , bā·rū·māh זְבֻ֛ל and Zebul zə·ḇul אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיְגָ֧רֶשׁ drove way·ḡā·reš גַּ֥עַל Gaal ga·‘al וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- אֶחָ֖יו and his brothers ’e·ḥāw מִשֶּׁ֥בֶת out of miš·še·ḇeṯ בִּשְׁכֶֽם׃ Shechem . biš·ḵem Judges 9:42 וַֽיְהִי֙ - way·hî מִֽמָּחֳרָ֔ת The next day mim·mā·ḥo·rāṯ הָעָ֖ם the people [of Shechem] hā·‘ām וַיֵּצֵ֥א went out way·yê·ṣê הַשָּׂדֶ֑ה into the fields , haś·śā·ḏeh וַיַּגִּ֖דוּ and this was reported way·yag·gi·ḏū לַאֲבִימֶֽלֶךְ׃ to Abimelech . la·’ă·ḇî·me·leḵ Judges 9:43 וַיִּקַּ֣ח So he took way·yiq·qaḥ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָעָ֗ם his men , hā·‘ām וַֽיֶּחֱצֵם֙ divided them way·ye·ḥĕ·ṣêm לִשְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה into three liš·lō·šāh רָאשִׁ֔ים companies , rā·šîm וַיֶּאֱרֹ֖ב and lay in wait way·ye·’ĕ·rōḇ בַּשָּׂדֶ֑ה in the fields . baś·śā·ḏeh וַיַּ֗רְא When he saw way·yar וְהִנֵּ֤ה . . . wə·hin·nêh הָעָם֙ the people hā·‘ām יֹצֵ֣א coming out yō·ṣê מִן־ of min- הָעִ֔יר the city , hā·‘îr וַיָּ֥קָם he rose up way·yā·qām עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם against them ‘ă·lê·hem וַיַּכֵּֽם׃ and attacked them . way·yak·kêm Judges 9:44 וַאֲבִימֶ֗לֶךְ Then Abimelech wa·’ă·ḇî·me·leḵ וְהָרָאשִׁים֙ and the companies wə·hā·rā·šîm אֲשֶׁ֣ר - ’ă·šer עִמּ֔וֹ with him ‘im·mōw פָּשְׁט֕וּ rushed forward pā·šə·ṭū וַיַּ֣עַמְד֔וּ and took their stand way·ya·‘am·ḏū פֶּ֖תַח at the entrance pe·ṯaḥ הָעִ֑יר of the city hā·‘îr שַׁ֣עַר gate . ša·‘ar וּשְׁנֵ֣י The other two ū·šə·nê הָֽרָאשִׁ֗ים companies hā·rā·šîm פָּֽשְׁט֛וּ rushed pā·šə·ṭū עַֽל־ against ‘al- כָּל־ all kāl- אֲשֶׁ֥ר who [were] ’ă·šer בַּשָּׂדֶ֖ה in the fields baś·śā·ḏeh וַיַּכּֽוּם׃ and struck them down . way·yak·kūm Judges 9:45 כֹּ֚ל And all kōl הַה֔וּא that ha·hū הַיּ֣וֹם day hay·yō·wm וַאֲבִימֶ֜לֶךְ Abimelech wa·’ă·ḇî·me·leḵ נִלְחָ֣ם fought nil·ḥām בָּעִ֗יר against the city bā·‘îr וַיִּלְכֹּד֙ until he had captured it way·yil·kōḏ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָעִ֔יר - hā·‘îr וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- הָרָ֑ג and killed hā·rāḡ הָעָ֥ם its people hā·‘ām אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- בָּ֖הּ - . bāh וַיִּתֹּץ֙ Then he demolished way·yit·tōṣ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָעִ֔יר the city hā·‘îr וַיִּזְרָעֶ֖הָ and sowed way·yiz·rā·‘e·hā מֶֽלַח׃פ it with salt . me·laḥ
