Genesis 26:4 זַרְעֲךָ֙ I will make your descendants zar·‘ă·ḵā וְהִרְבֵּיתִ֤י as numerous wə·hir·bê·ṯî אֶֽת־ - ’eṯ- כְּכוֹכְבֵ֣י as the stars kə·ḵō·wḵ·ḇê הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם in the sky , haš·šā·ma·yim וְנָתַתִּ֣י and I will give wə·nā·ṯat·tî לְזַרְעֲךָ֔ [them] lə·zar·‘ă·ḵā אֵ֥ת - ’êṯ כָּל־ all kāl- הָאֵ֑ל these hā·’êl הָאֲרָצֹ֖ת lands , hā·’ă·rā·ṣōṯ בְזַרְעֲךָ֔ and through your offspring ḇə·zar·‘ă·ḵā כֹּ֖ל all kōl גּוֹיֵ֥י nations gō·w·yê הָאָֽרֶץ׃ of the earth hā·’ā·reṣ וְהִתְבָּרֲכ֣וּ will be blessed , wə·hiṯ·bā·ră·ḵū Genesis 26:5 עֵ֕קֶב because ‘ê·qeḇ אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- אַבְרָהָ֖ם Abraham ’aḇ·rā·hām שָׁמַ֥ע listened šā·ma‘ בְּקֹלִ֑י to My voice bə·qō·lî וַיִּשְׁמֹר֙ and kept way·yiš·mōr מִשְׁמַרְתִּ֔י My charge , miš·mar·tî מִצְוֺתַ֖י My commandments , miṣ·wō·ṯay חֻקּוֹתַ֥י My statutes , ḥuq·qō·w·ṯay וְתוֹרֹתָֽי׃ and My laws . ” wə·ṯō·w·rō·ṯāy Genesis 26:6 יִצְחָ֖ק So Isaac yiṣ·ḥāq וַיֵּ֥שֶׁב settled way·yê·šeḇ בִּגְרָֽר׃ in Gerar . biḡ·rār Genesis 26:7 אַנְשֵׁ֤י But when the men ’an·šê הַמָּקוֹם֙ of that place ham·mā·qō·wm וַֽיִּשְׁאֲל֞וּ asked way·yiš·’ă·lū לְאִשְׁתּ֔וֹ about his wife , lə·’iš·tōw וַיֹּ֖אמֶר he said , way·yō·mer הִ֑וא “ She hî אֲחֹ֣תִי is my sister . ” ’ă·ḥō·ṯî כִּ֤י For kî יָרֵא֙ he was afraid yā·rê לֵאמֹ֣ר to say , lê·mōr אִשְׁתִּ֔י “ [She is] my wife , ” ’iš·tî פֶּן־ since he thought to himself , pen- אַנְשֵׁ֤י “ The men ’an·šê הַמָּקוֹם֙ of this place ham·mā·qō·wm יַֽהַרְגֻ֜נִי will kill me ya·har·ḡu·nî עַל־ on account of ‘al- רִבְקָ֔ה Rebekah , riḇ·qāh כִּֽי־ because kî- הִֽיא׃ she hî טוֹבַ֥ת is so beautiful ṭō·w·ḇaṯ מַרְאֶ֖ה . . . . ” mar·’eh Genesis 26:8 וַיְהִ֗י - way·hî כִּ֣י When kî אָֽרְכוּ־ . . . ’ā·rə·ḵū- ל֥וֹ [Isaac] lōw שָׁם֙ had been there šām הַיָּמִ֔ים a long time , hay·yā·mîm אֲבִימֶ֙לֶךְ֙ Abimelech ’ă·ḇî·me·leḵ מֶ֣לֶךְ king me·leḵ פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים of the Philistines pə·liš·tîm וַיַּשְׁקֵ֗ף looked down way·yaš·qêp̄ בְּעַ֖ד from bə·‘aḏ הַֽחַלּ֑וֹן the window ha·ḥal·lō·wn וַיַּ֗רְא and was surprised to see way·yar וְהִנֵּ֤ה . . . wə·hin·nêh יִצְחָק֙ Isaac yiṣ·ḥāq מְצַחֵ֔ק caressing mə·ṣa·ḥêq אֵ֖ת . . . ’êṯ אִשְׁתּֽוֹ׃ his wife ’iš·tōw רִבְקָ֥ה Rebekah . riḇ·qāh Genesis 26:9 אֲבִימֶ֜לֶךְ Abimelech ’ă·ḇî·me·leḵ וַיִּקְרָ֨א sent for way·yiq·rā לְיִצְחָ֗ק Isaac lə·yiṣ·ḥāq וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ and said , way·yō·mer הִ֔וא “ So she hî אַ֣ךְ is really ’aḵ הִנֵּ֤ה . . . hin·nêh אִשְׁתְּךָ֙ your wife ! ’iš·tə·ḵā וְאֵ֥יךְ How wə·’êḵ אָמַ֖רְתָּ could you say , ’ā·mar·tā הִ֑וא ‘ She hî אֲחֹ֣תִי is my sister ’? ” ’ă·ḥō·ṯî יִצְחָ֔ק Isaac yiṣ·ḥāq וַיֹּ֤אמֶר replied , way·yō·mer אֵלָיו֙ . . . ’ê·lāw
