הוֹשִׁ֥יעָה has saved hō·wō·šî·‘āh לִּֽי׃ me . ’ lî Judges 7:3 נָ֜א Now , nā וְעַתָּ֗ה therefore , wə·‘at·tāh קְרָ֨א proclaim qə·rā בְּאָזְנֵ֤י in the hearing bə·’ā·zə·nê הָעָם֙ of the people : hā·‘ām לֵאמֹ֔ר . . . lê·mōr מִֽי־ ‘ Whoever mî- יָרֵ֣א is fearful yā·rê וְחָרֵ֔ד and trembling wə·ḥā·rêḏ יָשֹׁ֥ב may turn back yā·šōḇ וְיִצְפֹּ֖ר and leave wə·yiṣ·pōr מֵהַ֣ר Mount mê·har הַגִּלְעָ֑ד Gilead . ’” hag·gil·‘āḏ עֶשְׂרִ֤ים So twenty-two ‘eś·rîm וּשְׁנַ֙יִם֙ . . . ū·šə·na·yim אֶ֔לֶף thousand ’e·lep̄ מִן־ - min- הָעָ֗ם [of them] hā·‘ām וַיָּ֣שָׁב turned back , way·yā·šāḇ וַעֲשֶׂ֥רֶת but ten wa·‘ă·śe·reṯ אֲלָפִ֖ים thousand ’ă·lā·p̄îm נִשְׁאָֽרוּ׃ס remained . niš·’ā·rū Judges 7:4 יְהוָ֜ה Then YHWH Yah·weh וַיֹּ֨אמֶר said way·yō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- גִּדְע֗וֹן Gideon , giḏ·‘ō·wn עוֹד֮ “ There are still ‘ō·wḏ רָב֒ too many rāḇ הָעָ֣ם people . hā·‘ām הוֹרֵ֤ד Take them down hō·w·rêḏ אוֹתָם֙ - ’ō·w·ṯām אֶל־ to ’el- הַמַּ֔יִם the water , ham·ma·yim וְאֶצְרְפֶ֥נּוּ and I will sift them wə·’eṣ·rə·p̄en·nū לְךָ֖ for you lə·ḵā שָׁ֑ם there . šām וְהָיָ֡ה . . . wə·hā·yāh אֲשֶׁר֩ If ’ă·šer אֹמַ֨ר I say ’ō·mar אֵלֶ֜יךָ to you , ’ê·le·ḵā זֶ֣ה׀ ‘ This [one] zeh יֵלֵ֣ךְ shall go yê·lêḵ אִתָּ֗ךְ with you , ’ ’it·tāḵ ה֚וּא hū יֵלֵ֣ךְ he shall go yê·lêḵ אִתָּ֔ךְ . . . . ’it·tāḵ וְכֹ֨ל But wə·ḵōl אֲשֶׁר־ if ’ă·šer- אֹמַ֜ר I say ’ō·mar אֵלֶ֗יךָ . . . , ’ê·le·ḵā זֶ֚ה ‘ This [one] zeh לֹא־ shall not lō- יֵלֵ֣ךְ go yê·lêḵ עִמָּ֔ךְ with you , ’ ‘im·māḵ ה֖וּא he hū לֹ֥א shall not lō יֵלֵֽךְ׃ go . ” yê·lêḵ Judges 7:5 הָעָ֖ם So [Gideon] brought the people hā·‘ām וַיּ֥וֹרֶד down way·yō·w·reḏ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אֶל־ to ’el- הַמָּ֑יִםס the water , ham·må̄·yi·ms יְהוָ֜ה and YHWH Yah·weh וַיֹּ֨אמֶר said way·yō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- גִּדְע֗וֹן [him] , giḏ·‘ō·wn תַּצִּ֤יג “ Separate taṣ·ṣîḡ אוֹתוֹ֙ - ’ō·w·ṯōw לְבָ֔ד - lə·ḇāḏ כֹּ֣ל those kōl אֲשֶׁר־ who ’ă·šer- יָלֹק֩ lap yā·lōq הַמַּ֜יִם the water ham·ma·yim בִּלְשׁוֹנ֨וֹ with their tongues bil·šō·w·nōw מִן־ . . . min- כַּאֲשֶׁ֧ר like ka·’ă·šer יָלֹ֣ק . . . yā·lōq הַכֶּ֗לֶב a dog hak·ke·leḇ וְכֹ֛ל from those wə·ḵōl אֲשֶׁר־ who ’ă·šer- יִכְרַ֥ע kneel yiḵ·ra‘ עַל־ . . . ‘al- בִּרְכָּ֖יו . . . bir·kāw לִשְׁתּֽוֹת׃ to drink . ” liš·tō·wṯ Judges 7:6 מִסְפַּ֞ר And the number mis·par הַֽמֲלַקְקִ֤ים of those who lapped [the water] ha·mă·laq·qîm
