הַבַּ֔עַל Baal’s hab·ba·‘al מִזְבַּ֣ח altar miz·baḥ נֻתַּץ֙ torn down , nut·taṣ וְהָאֲשֵׁרָ֥ה with the Asherah pole wə·hā·’ă·šê·rāh אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- כֹּרָ֑תָה cut down kō·rā·ṯāh עָלָ֖יו beside it ‘ā·lāw וְאֵת֙ - wə·’êṯ הַשֵּׁנִ֔י and the second haš·šê·nî הַפָּ֣ר bull hap·pār הֹֽעֲלָ֔ה offered up hō·‘ă·lāh עַל־ on ‘al- הַבָּנֽוּי׃ the newly built hab·bā·nui הַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַ altar . ham·miz·bê·aḥ Judges 6:29 מִ֥י “ Who mî עָשָׂ֖ה did ‘ā·śāh הַדָּבָ֣ר . . . had·dā·ḇār הַזֶּ֑ה this ? ” haz·zeh וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ they said way·yō·mə·rū אֶל־ to ’el- אִ֣ישׁ one ’îš רֵעֵ֔הוּ another . rê·‘ê·hū וַֽיִּדְרְשׁוּ֙ And after they had investigated thoroughly way·yiḏ·rə·šū וַיְבַקְשׁ֔וּ . . . , way·ḇaq·šū וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ they were told , way·yō·mə·rū גִּדְעוֹן֙ “ Gideon giḏ·‘ō·wn בֶּן־ son ben- יוֹאָ֔שׁ of Joash yō·w·’āš עָשָׂ֖ה did ‘ā·śāh הַדָּבָ֥ר . . . had·dā·ḇār הַזֶּֽה׃ it . ” haz·zeh Judges 6:30 אַנְשֵׁ֤י Then the men ’an·šê הָעִיר֙ of the city hā·‘îr וַיֹּ֨אמְר֜וּ said way·yō·mə·rū אֶל־ to ’el- יוֹאָ֔שׁ Joash , yō·w·’āš הוֹצֵ֥א “ Bring out hō·w·ṣê אֶת־ - ’eṯ- בִּנְךָ֖ your son . bin·ḵā וְיָמֹ֑ת He must die , wə·yā·mōṯ כִּ֤י because kî נָתַץ֙ he has torn down nā·ṯaṣ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַבַּ֔עַל Baal’s hab·ba·‘al וְכִ֥י . . . wə·ḵî מִזְבַּ֣ח altar miz·baḥ כָרַ֖ת and cut down ḵā·raṯ הָאֲשֵׁרָ֥ה the Asherah pole hā·’ă·šê·rāh אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- עָלָֽיו׃ beside it . ” ‘ā·lāw Judges 6:31 יוֹאָ֡שׁ But Joash yō·w·’āš וַיֹּ֣אמֶר said way·yō·mer לְכֹל֩ to all lə·ḵōl אֲשֶׁר־ who ’ă·šer- עָמְד֨וּ stood ‘ā·mə·ḏū עָלָ֜יו against him , ‘ā·lāw הַאַתֶּ֣ם׀ “ Are you ha·’at·tem תְּרִיב֣וּן contending tə·rî·ḇūn לַבַּ֗עַל for Baal ? lab·ba·‘al אִם־ ’im- אַתֶּם֙ Are you ’at·tem תּוֹשִׁיע֣וּן trying to save him ? tō·wō·šî·‘ūn אוֹת֔וֹ - ’ō·w·ṯōw אֲשֶׁ֨ר Whoever ’ă·šer יָרִ֥יב pleads his case yā·rîḇ ל֛וֹ . . . lōw יוּמַ֖ת will be put to death yū·maṯ עַד־ by ‘aḏ- הַבֹּ֑קֶר morning ! hab·bō·qer אִם־ If ’im- הוּא֙ [Baal] hū אֱלֹהִ֥ים is a god , ’ĕ·lō·hîm יָ֣רֶב let him contend yā·reḇ ל֔וֹ for himself lōw כִּ֥י with kî נָתַ֖ץ the one who has torn down nā·ṯaṣ אֶֽת־ - ’eṯ- מִזְבְּחֽוֹ׃ his altar . ” miz·bə·ḥōw Judges 6:32 בַיּוֹם־ So on that day ḇay·yō·wm- הַה֖וּא . . . ha·hū וַיִּקְרָא־ Gideon was called way·yiq·rā- ל֥וֹ . . . lōw יְרֻבַּ֣עַל Jerubbaal , yə·rub·ba·‘al לֵאמֹ֑ר that is to say , lê·mōr הַבַּ֔עַל “ Let Baal hab·ba·‘al יָ֤רֶב contend yā·reḇ בּוֹ֙ with him , ” bōw כִּ֥י because kî
