אַבְרָהָ֑ם of Abraham’s ’aḇ·rā·hām בֶּן־ son ben- יִצְחָ֖ק Isaac . yiṣ·ḥāq אַבְרָהָ֖ם Abraham ’aḇ·rā·hām הוֹלִ֥יד became the father of hō·w·lîḏ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יִצְחָֽק׃ Isaac , yiṣ·ḥāq Genesis 25:20 יִצְחָק֙ and Isaac yiṣ·ḥāq וַיְהִ֤י was way·hî אַרְבָּעִ֣ים forty ’ar·bā·‘îm בֶּן־ years old ben- שָׁנָ֔ה . . . šā·nāh בְּקַחְתּ֣וֹ when he married bə·qaḥ·tōw אֶת־ - ’eṯ- ל֥וֹ lōw לְאִשָּֽׁה׃ lə·’iš·šāh רִבְקָ֗ה Rebekah , riḇ·qāh בַּת־ the daughter baṯ- בְּתוּאֵל֙ of Bethuel bə·ṯū·’êl הָֽאֲרַמִּ֔י the Aramean hā·’ă·ram·mî מִפַּדַּ֖ן vvv mip·pad·dan אֲרָ֑ם from Paddan-aram ’ă·rām אֲח֛וֹת and the sister ’ă·ḥō·wṯ לָבָ֥ן of Laban lā·ḇān הָאֲרַמִּ֖י the Aramean . hā·’ă·ram·mî Genesis 25:21 יִצְחָ֤ק Later, Isaac yiṣ·ḥāq וַיֶּעְתַּ֨ר prayed way·ye‘·tar לַֽיהוָה֙ to YHWH Yah·weh לְנֹ֣כַח on behalf of lə·nō·ḵaḥ אִשְׁתּ֔וֹ his wife , ’iš·tōw כִּ֥י because kî הִ֑וא she hî עֲקָרָ֖ה [was] barren . ‘ă·qā·rāh יְהוָ֔ה And YHWH Yah·weh וַיֵּעָ֤תֶר heard his prayer way·yê·‘ā·ṯer לוֹ֙ , lōw אִשְׁתּֽוֹ׃ and his wife ’iš·tōw רִבְקָ֥ה Rebekah riḇ·qāh וַתַּ֖הַר conceived . wat·ta·har Genesis 25:22 הַבָּנִים֙ But the children hab·bā·nîm בְּקִרְבָּ֔הּ inside her bə·qir·bāh וַיִּתְרֹֽצֲצ֤וּ struggled with each other , way·yiṯ·rō·ṣă·ṣū וַתֹּ֣אמֶר and she said , wat·tō·mer אִם־ . . . ’im- כֵּ֔ן . . . kên לָ֥מָּה “ Why lām·māh זֶּ֖ה is this zeh אָנֹ֑כִי happening to me ? ” ’ā·nō·ḵî וַתֵּ֖לֶךְ So [Rebekah] went wat·tê·leḵ לִדְרֹ֥שׁ to inquire liḏ·rōš אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יְהוָֽה׃ of YHWH , Yah·weh Genesis 25:23 יְהוָ֜ה and [He] Yah·weh לָ֗הּ declared lāh וַיֹּ֨אמֶר to her : way·yō·mer שְׁנֵ֤י “ Two šə·nê גֹיִים nations ḡō·yīm בְּבִטְנֵ֔ךְ are in your womb , bə·ḇiṭ·nêḵ וּשְׁנֵ֣י and two ū·šə·nê לְאֻמִּ֔ים peoples lə·’um·mîm מִמֵּעַ֖יִךְ from within you mim·mê·‘a·yiḵ יִפָּרֵ֑דוּ will be separated ; yip·pā·rê·ḏū וּלְאֹם֙ one people ū·lə·’ōm יֶֽאֱמָ֔ץ will be stronger ye·’ĕ·māṣ מִלְאֹ֣ם than the other , mil·’ōm וְרַ֖ב and the older wə·raḇ יַעֲבֹ֥ד will serve ya·‘ă·ḇōḏ צָעִֽיר׃ the younger . ” ṣā·‘îr Genesis 25:24 יָמֶ֖יהָ When her time yā·me·hā וַיִּמְלְא֥וּ came way·yim·lə·’ū לָלֶ֑דֶת to give birth , lā·le·ḏeṯ וְהִנֵּ֥ה there were indeed wə·hin·nêh תוֹמִ֖ם twins ṯō·w·mim בְּבִטְנָֽהּ׃ in her womb . bə·ḇiṭ·nāh Genesis 25:25 הָרִאשׁוֹן֙ The first hā·ri·šō·wn וַיֵּצֵ֤א one came out way·yê·ṣê אַדְמוֹנִ֔י red , ’aḏ·mō·w·nî כֻּלּ֖וֹ . . . kul·lōw שֵׂעָ֑ר covered with hair śê·‘ār כְּאַדֶּ֣רֶת like a fur coat ; kə·’ad·de·reṯ וַיִּקְרְא֥וּ so they named him way·yiq·rə·’ū שְׁמ֖וֹ . . . šə·mōw
