אֶת־ - ’eṯ- אֱלֹהֵ֣י the gods ’ĕ·lō·hê הָאֱמֹרִ֔י of the Amorites hā·’ĕ·mō·rî אֲשֶׁ֥ר in whose ’ă·šer בְּאַרְצָ֑ם land bə·’ar·ṣām אַתֶּ֖ם you ’at·tem יֹשְׁבִ֣ים are living . yō·šə·ḇîm וְאָנֹכִ֣י As for me wə·’ā·nō·ḵî וּבֵיתִ֔י and my house , ū·ḇê·ṯî נַעֲבֹ֖ד we will serve na·‘ă·ḇōḏ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יְהוָֽה׃פ YHWH ! ” Yah·weh Joshua 24:16 הָעָם֙ The people hā·‘ām וַיֹּ֔אמֶר . . . way·yō·mer וַיַּ֤עַן replied , way·ya·‘an חָלִ֣ילָה “ Far be it ḥā·lî·lāh לָּ֔נוּ from us lā·nū מֵעֲזֹ֖ב to forsake mê·‘ă·zōḇ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יְהוָ֑ה YHWH Yah·weh לַעֲבֹ֖ד to serve la·‘ă·ḇōḏ אֲחֵרִֽים׃ other ’ă·ḥê·rîm אֱלֹהִ֥ים gods ! ’ĕ·lō·hîm Joshua 24:17 כִּ֚י For kî יְהוָ֣ה YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ our God ’ĕ·lō·hê·nū הוּא֩ . . . hū הַמַּעֲלֶ֨ה brought ham·ma·‘ă·leh אֹתָ֧נוּ us ’ō·ṯā·nū וְאֶת־ and wə·’eṯ- אֲבוֹתֵ֛ינוּ our fathers ’ă·ḇō·w·ṯê·nū מֵאֶ֥רֶץ out of the land mê·’e·reṣ מִצְרַ֖יִם of Egypt , miṣ·ra·yim מִבֵּ֣ית out of the house mib·bêṯ עֲבָדִ֑ים of slavery , ‘ă·ḇā·ḏîm וַאֲשֶׁ֧ר and wa·’ă·šer עָשָׂ֣ה performed ‘ā·śāh הָאֵ֔לֶּה these hā·’êl·leh הַגְּדֹלוֹת֙ great hag·gə·ḏō·lō·wṯ הָאֹת֤וֹת signs hā·’ō·ṯō·wṯ לְעֵינֵ֗ינוּ before our eyes . lə·‘ê·nê·nū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַֽיִּשְׁמְרֵ֗נוּ He also protected us way·yiš·mə·rê·nū בְּכָל־ throughout bə·ḵāl הַדֶּ֙רֶךְ֙ our journey had·de·reḵ אֲשֶׁ֣ר ’ă·šer הָלַ֣כְנוּ hā·laḵ·nū בָ֔הּ ḇāh וּבְכֹל֙ and among all ū·ḇə·ḵōl הָֽעַמִּ֔ים the nations hā·‘am·mîm אֲשֶׁ֥ר through which ’ă·šer עָבַ֖רְנוּ we traveled ‘ā·ḇar·nū בְּקִרְבָּֽם׃ . . . . bə·qir·bām Joshua 24:18 יְהוָ֜ה And YHWH Yah·weh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיְגָ֨רֶשׁ drove out way·ḡā·reš מִפָּנֵ֑ינוּ before us mip·pā·nê·nū כָּל־ all kāl- הָעַמִּ֗ים the nations , hā·‘am·mîm וְאֶת־ - wə·’eṯ- הָאֱמֹרִ֛י including the Amorites hā·’ĕ·mō·rî יֹשֵׁ֥ב who lived yō·šêḇ הָאָ֖רֶץ in the land . hā·’ā·reṣ אֲנַ֙חְנוּ֙ We ’ă·naḥ·nū גַּם־ too gam- נַעֲבֹ֣ד will serve na·‘ă·ḇōḏ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יְהוָ֔ה YHWH , Yah·weh כִּי־ because kî- ה֖וּא He hū אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃ס is our God ! ” ’ĕ·lō·hê·nū Joshua 24:19 יְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַ But Joshua yə·hō·wō·šu·a‘ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר said way·yō·mer אֶל־ to ’el- הָעָ֗ם the people , hā·‘ām לֹ֤א “ You are not lō תֽוּכְלוּ֙ able ṯū·ḵə·lū לַעֲבֹ֣ד to serve la·‘ă·ḇōḏ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יְהוָ֔ה YHWH , Yah·weh כִּֽי־ for kî- ה֑וּא He hū קְדֹשִׁ֖ים is a holy qə·ḏō·šîm אֱלֹהִ֥ים God ; ’ĕ·lō·hîm ה֔וּא He hū קַנּ֣וֹא is a jealous qan·nō·w אֵֽל־ God ; ’êl- לֹֽא־ He will not lō-
