שָׁ֙מָּה֙ [the Jordan] šām·māh לְרִשְׁתָּ֔הּ to possess lə·riš·tāh אֶ֥רֶץ is a land ’e·reṣ הָרִ֖ים of mountains hā·rîm וּבְקָעֹ֑ת and valleys ū·ḇə·qā·‘ōṯ תִּשְׁתֶּה־ that drinks in tiš·teh- מָּֽיִם׃ . . . mā·yim לִמְטַ֥ר the rain lim·ṭar הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם from heaven . haš·šā·ma·yim Deuteronomy 11:12 אֶ֕רֶץ It is a land ’e·reṣ אֲשֶׁר־ for which ’ă·šer- יְהוָ֥ה YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ your God ’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā דֹּרֵ֣שׁ cares ; dō·rêš אֹתָ֑הּ - ’ō·ṯāh עֵינֵ֨י the eyes ‘ê·nê יְהוָ֤ה of YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהֶ֙יךָ֙ your God ’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā תָּמִ֗יד are always tā·mîḏ בָּ֔הּ on it , bāh מֵֽרֵשִׁית֙ from the beginning mê·rê·šîṯ וְעַ֖ד to wə·‘aḏ אַחֲרִ֥ית the end ’a·ḥă·rîṯ שָׁנָֽה׃ס . . . šā·nāh הַשָּׁנָ֔ה of the year . haš·šā·nāh Deuteronomy 11:13 וְהָיָ֗ה So wə·hā·yāh אִם־ if ’im- שָׁמֹ֤עַ you carefully obey šā·mō·a‘ תִּשְׁמְעוּ֙ . . . tiš·mə·‘ū אֶל־ . . . ’el- מִצְוֺתַ֔י the commandments miṣ·wō·ṯay אֲשֶׁ֧ר - ’ă·šer אָנֹכִ֛י I ’ā·nō·ḵî מְצַוֶּ֥ה am giving you today mə·ṣaw·weh אֶתְכֶ֖ם - ’eṯ·ḵem הַיּ֑וֹם - , hay·yō·wm לְאַהֲבָ֞ה to love lə·’a·hă·ḇāh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יְהוָ֤ה YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶם֙ your God ’ĕ·lō·hê·ḵem וּלְעָבְד֔וֹ and to serve Him ū·lə·‘ā·ḇə·ḏōw בְּכָל־ with all bə·ḵāl לְבַבְכֶ֖ם your heart lə·ḇaḇ·ḵem וּבְכָל־ and with all ū·ḇə·ḵāl נַפְשְׁכֶֽם׃ your soul , nap̄·šə·ḵem Deuteronomy 11:14 וְנָתַתִּ֧י then I will provide wə·nā·ṯat·tî מְטַֽר־ rain mə·ṭar- אַרְצְכֶ֛ם for your land ’ar·ṣə·ḵem בְּעִתּ֖וֹ in season , bə·‘it·tōw יוֹרֶ֣ה the autumn and spring rains yō·w·reh וּמַלְק֑וֹשׁ . . . , ū·mal·qō·wōš וְאָסַפְתָּ֣ that you may gather wə·’ā·sap̄·tā דְגָנֶ֔ךָ your grain , ḏə·ḡā·ne·ḵā וְתִֽירֹשְׁךָ֖ new wine , wə·ṯî·rō·šə·ḵā וְיִצְהָרֶֽךָ׃ and oil . wə·yiṣ·hā·re·ḵā Deuteronomy 11:15 וְנָתַתִּ֛י And I will provide wə·nā·ṯat·tî עֵ֥שֶׂב grass ‘ê·śeḇ בְּשָׂדְךָ֖ in the fields bə·śā·ḏə·ḵā לִבְהֶמְתֶּ֑ךָ for your livestock , liḇ·hem·te·ḵā וְאָכַלְתָּ֖ and you will eat wə·’ā·ḵal·tā וְשָׂבָֽעְתָּ׃ and be satisfied . wə·śā·ḇā·‘ə·tā Deuteronomy 11:16 הִשָּֽׁמְר֣וּ But be careful hiš·šā·mə·rū לָכֶ֔ם lā·ḵem פֶּ֥ן that you are not pen יִפְתֶּ֖ה enticed yip̄·teh לְבַבְכֶ֑ם . . . lə·ḇaḇ·ḵem וְסַרְתֶּ֗ם to turn aside wə·sar·tem וַעֲבַדְתֶּם֙ to worship wa·‘ă·ḇaḏ·tem וְהִשְׁתַּחֲוִיתֶ֖ם and bow down wə·hiš·ta·ḥă·wî·ṯem לָהֶֽם׃ lā·hem אֲחֵרִ֔ים to other ’ă·ḥê·rîm אֱלֹהִ֣ים gods , ’ĕ·lō·hîm Deuteronomy 11:17 אַף־ or the anger ’ap̄- יְהוָ֜ה of YHWH Yah·weh וְחָרָ֨ה will be kindled wə·ḥā·rāh בָּכֶ֗ם against you . bā·ḵem וְעָצַ֤ר He will shut wə·‘ā·ṣar אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙ the heavens haš·šā·ma·yim יִהְיֶ֣ה so that there will be yih·yeh וְלֹֽא־ no wə·lō- מָטָ֔ר rain , mā·ṭār
