בְּאֵ֑רָה [they went on] to Beer , bə·’ê·rāh הִ֣וא . . . hî הַבְּאֵ֗ר the well hab·bə·’êr אֲשֶׁ֨ר where ’ă·šer יְהוָה֙ YHWH Yah·weh אָמַ֤ר said ’ā·mar לְמֹשֶׁ֔ה to Moses , lə·mō·šeh אֱסֹף֙ “ Gather ’ĕ·sōp̄ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הָעָ֔ם the people hā·‘ām וְאֶתְּנָ֥ה so that I may give wə·’et·tə·nāh לָהֶ֖ם them lā·hem מָֽיִם׃ס water . ” mā·yim Numbers 21:17 אָ֚ז Then ’āz יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל Israel yiś·rā·’êl אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יָשִׁ֣יר sang yā·šîr הַזֹּ֑את this haz·zōṯ הַשִּׁירָ֖ה song : haš·šî·rāh עֲלִ֥י “ Spring up , ‘ă·lî בְאֵ֖ר O well , ḇə·’êr עֱנוּ־ all of you sing ‘ĕ·nū- לָֽהּ׃ to it ! lāh Numbers 21:18 שָׂרִ֗ים The princes śā·rîm חֲפָר֣וּהָ dug ḥă·p̄ā·rū·hā בְּאֵ֞ר the well ; bə·’êr נְדִיבֵ֣י the nobles nə·ḏî·ḇê הָעָ֔ם of the people hā·‘ām כָּר֙וּהָ֙ hollowed it out kā·rū·hā בִּמְחֹקֵ֖ק with their scepters bim·ḥō·qêq בְּמִשְׁעֲנֹתָ֑ם and with their staffs . ” bə·miš·‘ă·nō·ṯām וּמִמִּדְבָּ֖ר From the wilderness [the Israelites went on] ū·mim·miḏ·bār מַתָּנָֽה׃ to Mattanah , mat·tā·nāh Numbers 21:19 וּמִמַּתָּנָ֖ה and from Mattanah ū·mim·mat·tā·nāh נַחֲלִיאֵ֑ל to Nahaliel , na·ḥă·lî·’êl וּמִנַּחֲלִיאֵ֖ל and from Nahaliel ū·min·na·ḥă·lî·’êl בָּמֽוֹת׃ to Bamoth , bā·mō·wṯ Numbers 21:20 וּמִבָּמ֗וֹת and from Bamoth ū·mib·bā·mō·wṯ הַגַּיְא֙ to the valley hag·gay אֲשֶׁר֙ - ’ă·šer בִּשְׂדֵ֣ה [in] biś·ḏêh מוֹאָ֔ב Moab mō·w·’āḇ רֹ֖אשׁ where the top rōš הַפִּסְגָּ֑ה of Pisgah hap·pis·gāh וְנִשְׁקָ֖פָה overlooks wə·niš·qā·p̄āh עַל־ . . . ‘al- פְּנֵ֥י . . . pə·nê הַיְשִׁימֹֽן׃פ the wasteland . hay·šî·mōn Numbers 21:21 יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ Then Israel yiś·rā·’êl וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח sent way·yiš·laḥ מַלְאָכִ֔ים messengers mal·’ā·ḵîm אֶל־ to ’el- סִיחֹ֥ן Sihon sî·ḥōn מֶֽלֶךְ־ king me·leḵ- הָאֱמֹרִ֖י of the Amorites , hā·’ĕ·mō·rî לֵאמֹֽר׃ saying , lê·mōr Numbers 21:22 אֶעְבְּרָ֣ה “ Let us pass ’e‘·bə·rāh בְאַרְצֶ֗ךָ through your land . ḇə·’ar·ṣe·ḵā לֹ֤א We will not lō נִטֶּה֙ cut through niṭ·ṭeh בְּשָׂדֶ֣ה any field bə·śā·ḏeh וּבְכֶ֔רֶם or vineyard , ū·ḇə·ḵe·rem לֹ֥א [or] lō נִשְׁתֶּ֖ה drink niš·teh מֵ֣י water mê בְאֵ֑ר from any well . ḇə·’êr נֵלֵ֔ךְ We will stay on nê·lêḵ הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ the King’s ham·me·leḵ בְּדֶ֤רֶךְ Highway bə·ḏe·reḵ עַ֥ד until ‘aḏ אֲשֶֽׁר־ - ’ă·šer- נַעֲבֹ֖ר we have passed through na·‘ă·ḇōr גְּבֻלֶֽךָ׃ your territory . ” gə·ḇu·le·ḵā Numbers 21:23 סִיחֹ֣ן But Sihon sî·ḥōn אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וְלֹא־ would not wə·lō- נָתַ֨ן let nā·ṯan יִשְׂרָאֵל֮ Israel yiś·rā·’êl עֲבֹ֣ר pass ‘ă·ḇōr
