בַּיָּם֙ the sea bay·yām וַֽיַּבְּשֵׁ֔הוּ and dries it up ; way·yab·bə·šê·hū וְכָל־ He makes all wə·ḵāl הַנְּהָר֖וֹת the rivers han·nə·hā·rō·wṯ הֶֽחֱרִ֑יב run dry . he·ḥĕ·rîḇ בָּשָׁן֙ Bashan bā·šān וְכַרְמֶ֔ל and Carmel wə·ḵar·mel אֻמְלַ֤ל wither , ’um·lal וּפֶ֥רַח and the flower ū·p̄e·raḥ לְבָנ֖וֹן of Lebanon lə·ḇā·nō·wn אֻמְלָֽל׃ wilts . ’um·lāl Nahum 1:5 הָרִים֙ The mountains hā·rîm רָעֲשׁ֣וּ quake rā·‘ă·šū מִמֶּ֔נּוּ before Him , mim·men·nū וְהַגְּבָע֖וֹת and the hills wə·hag·gə·ḇā·‘ō·wṯ הִתְמֹגָ֑גוּ melt away ; hiṯ·mō·ḡā·ḡū הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ the earth hā·’ā·reṣ וַתִּשָּׂ֤א trembles wat·tiś·śā מִפָּנָ֔יו at His presence — mip·pā·nāw וְתֵבֵ֖ל the world wə·ṯê·ḇêl וְכָל־ and all wə·ḵāl יֹ֥שְׁבֵי its dwellers yō·šə·ḇê בָֽהּ׃ . . . . ḇāh Nahum 1:6 מִ֣י Who mî לִפְנֵ֤י can withstand lip̄·nê יַֽעֲמ֔וֹד . . . ya·‘ă·mō·wḏ זַעְמוֹ֙ His indignation ? za‘·mōw וּמִ֥י Who ū·mî יָק֖וּם can endure yā·qūm בַּחֲר֣וֹן His burning anger ba·ḥă·rō·wn אַפּ֑וֹ . . . ? ’ap·pōw חֲמָתוֹ֙ His wrath ḥă·mā·ṯōw נִתְּכָ֣ה is poured out nit·tə·ḵāh כָאֵ֔שׁ like fire ; ḵā·’êš וְהַצֻּרִ֖ים even rocks wə·haṣ·ṣu·rîm נִתְּצ֥וּ are shattered nit·tə·ṣū מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃ before Him . mim·men·nū Nahum 1:7 יְהוָ֔ה YHWH Yah·weh ט֣וֹב is good , ṭō·wḇ לְמָע֖וֹז a stronghold lə·mā·‘ō·wz בְּי֣וֹם in the day bə·yō·wm צָרָ֑ה of distress ; ṣā·rāh וְיֹדֵ֖עַ He cares for wə·yō·ḏê·a‘ חֹ֥סֵי those who trust ḥō·sê בֽוֹ׃ in Him . ḇōw Nahum 1:8 עֹבֵ֔ר But with an overwhelming ‘ō·ḇêr וּבְשֶׁ֣טֶף flood ū·ḇə·še·ṭep̄ יַעֲשֶׂ֣ה He will make ya·‘ă·śeh כָּלָ֖ה an end kā·lāh מְקוֹמָ֑הּ [of Nineveh] mə·qō·w·māh יְרַדֶּף־ and pursue yə·rad·dep̄- וְאֹיְבָ֖יו His enemies wə·’ō·yə·ḇāw חֹֽשֶׁךְ׃ into darkness . ḥō·šeḵ Nahum 1:9 מַה־ Whatever mah- תְּחַשְּׁבוּן֙ you plot tə·ḥaš·šə·ḇūn אֶל־ against ’el- יְהוָ֔ה YHWH , Yah·weh ה֣וּא He hū עֹשֶׂ֑ה will bring ‘ō·śeh כָּלָ֖ה to an end . kā·lāh צָרָֽה׃ Affliction ṣā·rāh לֹֽא־ will not lō- תָק֥וּם rise up ṯā·qūm פַּעֲמַ֖יִם a second time . pa·‘ă·ma·yim Nahum 1:10 כִּ֚י For kî סְבֻכִ֔ים they will be entangled sə·ḇu·ḵîm עַד־ as with ‘aḏ- סִירִ֣ים thorns sî·rîm אֻ֨כְּל֔וּ and consumed ’uk·kə·lū וּכְסָבְאָ֖ם like the drink ū·ḵə·sā·ḇə·’ām סְבוּאִ֑ים of a drunkard — sə·ḇū·’îm כְּקַ֥שׁ like stubble kə·qaš מָלֵֽא׃ that is fully mā·lê יָבֵ֖שׁ dry . yā·ḇêš Nahum 1:11 מִמֵּ֣ךְ From you, [O Nineveh] , mim·mêḵ יָצָ֔א comes forth yā·ṣā חֹשֵׁ֥ב a plotter ḥō·šêḇ רָעָ֑ה of evil rā·‘āh עַל־ against ‘al-
