Jonah 1:16 הָאֲנָשִׁ֛ים Then the men hā·’ă·nā·šîm יִרְאָ֥ה . . . yir·’āh וַיִּֽירְא֧וּ feared way·yî·rə·’ū יְהוָ֑ה YHWH Yah·weh גְדוֹלָ֖ה greatly , ḡə·ḏō·w·lāh אֶת־ - ’eṯ- וַיִּֽזְבְּחוּ־ and they offered way·yiz·bə·ḥū- זֶ֙בַח֙ a sacrifice ze·ḇaḥ לַֽיהוָ֔ה to YHWH Yah·weh וַֽיִּדְּר֖וּ and made way·yid·də·rū נְדָרִֽים׃ vows [to Him] . nə·ḏā·rîm Jonah 1:17 יְהוָה֙ Now YHWH Yah·weh וַיְמַ֤ן had appointed way·man גָּד֔וֹל a great gā·ḏō·wl דָּ֣ג fish dāḡ לִבְלֹ֖עַ to swallow liḇ·lō·a‘ אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יוֹנָ֑ה Jonah , yō·w·nāh יוֹנָה֙ and Jonah yō·w·nāh וַיְהִ֤י spent way·hî שְׁלֹשָׁ֥ה three šə·lō·šāh יָמִ֖ים days yā·mîm וּשְׁלֹשָׁ֥ה and three ū·šə·lō·šāh לֵילֽוֹת׃ nights lê·lō·wṯ בִּמְעֵ֣י in the belly bim·‘ê הַדָּ֔ג of the fish . had·dāḡ Jonah 2:1 מִמְּעֵ֖י From inside mim·mə·‘ê הַדָּגָֽה׃ the fish , had·dā·ḡāh יוֹנָ֔ה Jonah yō·w·nāh וַיִּתְפַּלֵּ֣ל prayed way·yiṯ·pal·lêl אֶל־ to ’el- יְהוָ֖ה YHWH Yah·weh אֱלֹהָ֑יו his God , ’ĕ·lō·hāw Jonah 2:2 וַיֹּ֗אמֶר saying : way·yō·mer מִצָּ֥רָה “ In my distress miṣ·ṣā·rāh לִ֛י lî קָ֠רָאתִי I called qā·rā·ṯî אֶל־ to ’el- יְהוָ֖ה YHWH , Yah·weh וַֽיַּעֲנֵ֑נִי and He answered me . way·ya·‘ă·nê·nî מִבֶּ֧טֶן From the belly mib·be·ṭen שְׁא֛וֹל of Sheol šə·’ō·wl שִׁוַּ֖עְתִּי I called for help , šiw·wa‘·tî שָׁמַ֥עְתָּ [and] You heard šā·ma‘·tā קוֹלִֽי׃ my voice . qō·w·lî Jonah 2:3 וַתַּשְׁלִיכֵ֤נִי For You cast me wat·taš·lî·ḵê·nî מְצוּלָה֙ into the deep , mə·ṣū·lāh בִּלְבַ֣ב into the heart bil·ḇaḇ יַמִּ֔ים of the seas , yam·mîm וְנָהָ֖ר and the current wə·nā·hār יְסֹבְבֵ֑נִי swirled about me ; yə·sō·ḇə·ḇê·nî כָּל־ all kāl- מִשְׁבָּרֶ֥יךָ Your breakers miš·bā·re·ḵā וְגַלֶּ֖יךָ and waves wə·ḡal·le·ḵā עָבָֽרוּ׃ swept ‘ā·ḇā·rū עָלַ֥י over me . ‘ā·lay Jonah 2:4 וַאֲנִ֣י At this, I wa·’ă·nî אָמַ֔רְתִּי said , ’ā·mar·tî נִגְרַ֖שְׁתִּי ‘ I have been banished niḡ·raš·tî מִנֶּ֣גֶד from min·ne·ḡeḏ עֵינֶ֑יךָ Your sight ; ‘ê·ne·ḵā אַ֚ךְ yet ’aḵ לְהַבִּ֔יט I will look lə·hab·bîṭ אוֹסִ֣יף once more ’ō·w·sîp̄ אֶל־ toward ’el- קָדְשֶֽׁךָ׃ Your holy qāḏ·še·ḵā הֵיכַ֖ל temple . ’ hê·ḵal Jonah 2:5 מַ֙יִם֙ The waters ma·yim אֲפָפ֤וּנִי engulfed me ’ă·p̄ā·p̄ū·nî עַד־ to take ‘aḏ- נֶ֔פֶשׁ my life ; ne·p̄eš תְּה֖וֹם the watery depths tə·hō·wm יְסֹבְבֵ֑נִי closed around me ; yə·sō·ḇə·ḇê·nî ס֖וּף the seaweed sūp̄ חָב֥וּשׁ wrapped ḥā·ḇūš לְרֹאשִֽׁי׃ around my head . lə·rō·šî Jonah 2:6 לְקִצְבֵ֤י To the roots lə·qiṣ·ḇê הָרִים֙ of the mountains hā·rîm יָרַ֔דְתִּי I descended ; yā·raḏ·tî
