Amos 5:7 הַהֹפְכִ֥ים There are those who turn ha·hō·p̄ə·ḵîm מִשְׁפָּ֑ט justice miš·pāṭ לְלַעֲנָ֖ה into wormwood lə·la·‘ă·nāh הִנִּֽיחוּ׃ and cast hin·nî·ḥū וּצְדָקָ֖ה righteousness ū·ṣə·ḏā·qāh לָאָ֥רֶץ to the ground . lā·’ā·reṣ Amos 5:8 עֹשֵׂ֨ה He who made ‘ō·śêh כִימָ֜ה the Pleiades ḵî·māh וּכְסִ֗יל and Orion , ū·ḵə·sîl וְהֹפֵ֤ךְ who turns wə·hō·p̄êḵ צַלְמָ֔וֶת darkness ṣal·mā·weṯ לַבֹּ֙קֶר֙ into dawn lab·bō·qer הֶחְשִׁ֑יךְ and darkens heḥ·šîḵ וְי֖וֹם day wə·yō·wm לַ֣יְלָה into night , lay·lāh הַקּוֹרֵ֣א who summons haq·qō·w·rê לְמֵֽי־ the waters lə·mê- הַיָּ֗ם of the sea hay·yām וַֽיִּשְׁפְּכֵ֛ם and pours them way·yiš·pə·ḵêm עַל־ over ‘al- פְּנֵ֥י the face pə·nê הָאָ֖רֶץ of the earth — hā·’ā·reṣ יְהוָ֥ה YHWH Yah·weh שְׁמֽוֹ׃ס is His name — šə·mōw Amos 5:9 הַמַּבְלִ֥יג He flashes ham·maḇ·lîḡ שֹׁ֖ד destruction šōḏ עַל־ on ‘al- עָ֑ז the strong , ‘āz וְשֹׁ֖ד so that fury wə·šōḏ יָבֽוֹא׃ comes yā·ḇō·w עַל־ upon ‘al- מִבְצָ֥ר the stronghold . miḇ·ṣār Amos 5:10 שָׂנְא֥וּ There are those who hate śā·nə·’ū מוֹכִ֑יחַ the one who reproves mō·w·ḵî·aḥ בַשַּׁ֖עַר in the gate ḇaš·ša·‘ar יְתָעֵֽבוּ׃ and despise him yə·ṯā·‘ê·ḇū וְדֹבֵ֥ר who speaks wə·ḏō·ḇêr תָּמִ֖ים with integrity . tā·mîm Amos 5:11 לָ֠כֵן Therefore , lā·ḵên יַ֣עַן because ya·‘an בּוֹשַׁסְכֶ֞ם you trample bō·wō·šas·ḵem עַל־ on ‘al- דָּ֗ל the poor dāl תִּקְח֣וּ and exact tiq·ḥū מִמֶּ֔נּוּ from him mim·men·nū וּמַשְׂאַת־ a tax ū·maś·’aṯ- בַּר֙ of grain , bar וְלֹא־ you will never wə·lō- תֵ֣שְׁבוּ live ṯê·šə·ḇū בָ֑ם ḇām בָּתֵּ֥י in the stone houses bāt·tê גָזִ֛ית . . . ḡā·zîṯ בְּנִיתֶ֖ם you have built ; bə·nî·ṯem וְלֹ֥א you will never wə·lō תִשְׁתּ֖וּ drink ṯiš·tū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יֵינָֽם׃ the wine yê·nām חֶ֣מֶד from the lush ḥe·meḏ כַּרְמֵי־ vineyards kar·mê- נְטַעְתֶּ֔ם you have planted . nə·ṭa‘·tem Amos 5:12 כִּ֤י For kî יָדַ֙עְתִּי֙ I know [that] yā·ḏa‘·tî פִּשְׁעֵיכֶ֔ם your transgressions piš·‘ê·ḵem רַבִּ֣ים are many rab·bîm חַטֹּֽאתֵיכֶ֑ם and your sins ḥaṭ·ṭō·ṯê·ḵem וַעֲצֻמִ֖ים are numerous . wa·‘ă·ṣu·mîm צֹרְרֵ֤י You oppress ṣō·rə·rê צַדִּיק֙ the righteous ṣad·dîq לֹ֣קְחֵי by taking lō·qə·ḥê כֹ֔פֶר bribes ; ḵō·p̄er וְאֶבְיוֹנִ֖ים {you deprive} the poor wə·’eḇ·yō·w·nîm הִטּֽוּ׃ of justice hiṭ·ṭū בַּשַּׁ֥עַר in the gate . baš·ša·‘ar Amos 5:13 לָכֵ֗ן Therefore , lā·ḵên הַמַּשְׂכִּ֛יל the prudent ham·maś·kîl יִדֹּ֑ם keep silent yid·dōm הַהִ֖יא in such ha·hî בָּעֵ֥ת times , bā·‘êṯ כִּ֛י for kî עֵ֥ת the days ‘êṯ רָעָ֖ה are evil rā·‘āh הִֽיא׃ . . . . hî
