Amos 5:1 שִׁמְע֞וּ Hear šim·‘ū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- הַזֶּ֗ה this haz·zeh הַדָּבָ֣ר word , had·dā·ḇār בֵּ֥ית O house bêṯ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ of Israel , yiś·rā·’êl אֲשֶׁ֨ר this ’ă·šer קִינָ֖ה lamentation qî·nāh אָנֹכִ֜י I ’ā·nō·ḵî נֹשֵׂ֧א take up nō·śê עֲלֵיכֶ֛ם against you : ‘ă·lê·ḵem Amos 5:2 נָֽפְלָה֙ “ Fallen is nā·p̄ə·lāh בְּתוּלַ֖ת Virgin bə·ṯū·laṯ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל Israel , yiś·rā·’êl לֹֽא־ never lō- ק֔וּם to rise qūm תוֹסִ֣יף again . ṯō·w·sîp̄ נִטְּשָׁ֥ה She lies abandoned niṭ·ṭə·šāh עַל־ on ‘al- אַדְמָתָ֖הּ her land , ’aḏ·mā·ṯāh אֵ֥ין with no ’ên מְקִימָֽהּ׃ one to raise her up . ” mə·qî·māh Amos 5:3 כִּ֣י This is what kî כֹ֤ה . . . ḵōh אֲדֹנָ֣י the Lord ’ă·ḏō·nāy יְהוִ֔ה YHWH Yah·weh אָמַר֙ says : ’ā·mar הָעִ֛יר “ The city hā·‘îr הַיֹּצֵ֥את that marches out hay·yō·ṣêṯ אֶ֖לֶף a thousand strong ’e·lep̄ מֵאָ֑ה will only see a hundred mê·’āh תַּשְׁאִ֣יר return , taš·’îr וְהַיּוֹצֵ֥את and the one that marches out wə·hay·yō·w·ṣêṯ מֵאָ֛ה a hundred strong mê·’āh עֲשָׂרָ֖ה will have but ten ‘ă·śā·rāh תַּשְׁאִ֥יר left taš·’îr לְבֵ֥ית in the house lə·ḇêṯ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ס of Israel . ” yiś·rā·’êl Amos 5:4 כִּ֣י For kî כֹ֥ה this is what ḵōh יְהוָ֖ה YHWH Yah·weh אָמַ֛ר says ’ā·mar לְבֵ֣ית to the house lə·ḇêṯ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל of Israel : yiś·rā·’êl דִּרְשׁ֖וּנִי “ Seek Me dir·šū·nî וִֽחְיֽוּ׃ and live ! wiḥ·yū Amos 5:5 וְאַֽל־ Do not wə·’al- תִּדְרְשׁוּ֙ seek tiḏ·rə·šū בֵּֽית־ vvv bêṯ- אֵ֔ל Bethel ’êl תָבֹ֔אוּ or go ṯā·ḇō·’ū וְהַגִּלְגָּל֙ to Gilgal ; wə·hag·gil·gāl לֹ֣א do not lō תַעֲבֹ֑רוּ journey ṯa·‘ă·ḇō·rū וּבְאֵ֥ר vvv ū·ḇə·’êr שֶׁ֖בַע to Beersheba , še·ḇa‘ לֹ֣א . . . lō כִּ֤י for kî הַגִּלְגָּל֙ Gilgal hag·gil·gāl גָּלֹ֣ה will surely gā·lōh יִגְלֶ֔ה go into exile , yiḡ·leh וּבֵֽית־ vvv ū·ḇêṯ- אֵ֖ל and Bethel ’êl יִהְיֶ֥ה will come yih·yeh לְאָֽוֶן׃ to nothing . lə·’ā·wen Amos 5:6 דִּרְשׁ֥וּ Seek dir·šū אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יְהוָ֖ה YHWH Yah·weh וִֽחְי֑וּ and live , wiḥ·yū פֶּן־ or pen- יִצְלַ֤ח He will sweep yiṣ·laḥ כָּאֵשׁ֙ like fire kā·’êš בֵּ֣ית through the house bêṯ יוֹסֵ֔ף of Joseph ; yō·w·sêp̄ וְאָכְלָ֥ה it will devour everything , wə·’ā·ḵə·lāh וְאֵין־ with no one wə·’ên- לְבֵֽית־ vvv lə·ḇêṯ- אֵֽל׃ at Bethel ’êl מְכַבֶּ֖ה to extinguish it . mə·ḵab·beh
