אֵ֥ין He takes no ’ên חֵ֖פֶץ pleasure ḥê·p̄eṣ בַּכְּסִילִ֑ים in fools . bak·kə·sî·lîm אֵ֥ת - ’êṯ שַׁלֵּֽם׃ Fulfill šal·lêm אֲשֶׁר־ - ’ă·šer- תִּדֹּ֖ר your vow . tid·dōr Ecclesiastes 5:5 ט֖וֹב It is better ṭō·wḇ אֲשֶׁ֣ר - ’ă·šer לֹֽא־ not lō- תִדֹּ֑ר to vow ṯid·dōr מִשֶׁתִּדּ֖וֹר than to make a vow mi·šɛt·tid·dōr וְלֹ֥א and not wə·lō תְשַׁלֵּֽם׃ fulfill it . ṯə·šal·lêm Ecclesiastes 5:6 אַל־ Do not ’al- תִּתֵּ֤ן let tit·tên אֶת־ - ’eṯ- פִּ֙יךָ֙ your mouth pî·ḵā בְּשָׂרֶ֔ךָ {cause} your flesh bə·śā·re·ḵā לַחֲטִ֣יא to sin la·ḥă·ṭî אֶת־ - , ’eṯ- וְאַל־ and do not wə·’al- תֹּאמַר֙ tell tō·mar לִפְנֵ֣י . . . lip̄·nê הַמַּלְאָ֔ךְ the messenger ham·mal·’āḵ כִּ֥י that kî הִ֑יא [your vow] hî שְׁגָגָ֖ה was a mistake . šə·ḡā·ḡāh לָ֣מָּה Why lām·māh הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ should God hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm יִקְצֹ֤ף be angry yiq·ṣōp̄ עַל־ with ‘al- קוֹלֶ֔ךָ your words qō·w·le·ḵā וְחִבֵּ֖ל and destroy wə·ḥib·bêl אֶת־ - ’eṯ- מַעֲשֵׂ֥ה the work ma·‘ă·śêh יָדֶֽיךָ׃ of your hands ? yā·ḏe·ḵā Ecclesiastes 5:7 כִּ֣י For as kî בְרֹ֤ב many ḇə·rōḇ חֲלֹמוֹת֙ dreams ḥă·lō·mō·wṯ וַהֲבָלִ֔ים bring futility , wa·hă·ḇā·lîm הַרְבֵּ֑ה so do many har·bêh וּדְבָרִ֖ים words . ū·ḏə·ḇā·rîm כִּ֥י Therefore , kî אֶת־ - ’eṯ- יְרָֽא׃ fear yə·rā הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים God . hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm Ecclesiastes 5:8 אִם־ If ’im- תִּרְאֶ֣ה you see tir·’eh עֹ֣שֶׁק the oppression ‘ō·šeq רָ֠שׁ of the poor rāš וְגֵ֨זֶל and the denial wə·ḡê·zel מִשְׁפָּ֤ט of justice miš·pāṭ וָצֶ֙דֶק֙ and righteousness wā·ṣe·ḏeq בַמְּדִינָ֔ה in the province , ḇam·mə·ḏî·nāh אַל־ do not ’al- תִּתְמַ֖הּ be astonished tiṯ·mah עַל־ at ‘al- הַחֵ֑פֶץ the matter ; ha·ḥê·p̄eṣ כִּ֣י for kî גָבֹ֜הַּ one official ḡā·ḇō·ah מֵעַ֤ל . . . mê·‘al שֹׁמֵ֔ר is watched by šō·mêr גָּבֹ֙הַ֙ a superior , gå̄·ḇō·ha וּגְבֹהִ֖ים and others higher still ū·ḡə·ḇō·hîm עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ are over them . ‘ă·lê·hem Ecclesiastes 5:9 וְיִתְר֥וֹן The produce wə·yiṯ·rō·wn אֶ֖רֶץ of the earth ’e·reṣ בַּכֹּ֣ל is taken by all ; bak·kōl הִיא . . . hī מֶ֥לֶךְ the king himself me·leḵ נֶעֱבָֽד׃ profits ne·‘ĕ·ḇāḏ לְשָׂדֶ֖ה from the fields . lə·śā·ḏeh Ecclesiastes 5:10 אֹהֵ֥ב He who loves ’ō·hêḇ כֶּ֙סֶף֙ money ke·sep̄ לֹא־ is never lō- יִשְׂבַּ֣ע satisfied yiś·ba‘ כֶּ֔סֶף by money , ke·sep̄ וּמִֽי־ and he who ū·mî- אֹהֵ֥ב loves ’ō·hêḇ בֶּהָמ֖וֹן wealth be·hā·mō·wn לֹ֣א is never lō
